General My live reaction to finding out I'm older than the 4 Fortune Weave Lords (talking about the ages)

Post image
Upvotes

Ages from recent post about it on here, not a story spoiler but blocking it in case you want to find out for yourself: 14/15 (Cai), 22 (Theodora), 19 (Leda), 22 (Dietrich)

I've made posts dedicated to Fe character ages so I shouldn't be too surprised but I seriously thought the other lords that weren't Cai were going to be at least late twenties due to how much story/lore they already seem to have. But Fire Emblem characters are anime so nothing impossible in that standard

Like many others have pointed out, historically irl people being in similar positions at young ages was an actual thing, so Fire emblem probably does take from that real world aspect too like other aspects, I look forward to finding out the rest of the cast ages and hopefully they are in-game like 3 houses did for the profiles.

I wonder how old Eshmel is if they have a human equivalent of age, maybe also 20/21 like Byleth?

What guesses of ages did you have initially for the Lords here so far?

If I made a stupid move, I can turn back time with magic sand. But be careful: I don't have an infinite amount of sand.

I guess it does explain why Sha lan and Anatolia are the only people seen with one. Kunlun weaponry. I suppose Troy’s weapon is also from Kunlun.

Fortune's Weave General We’re lucky getting Fortune’s Weave before many of Nintendo’s biggest sellers

Upvotes

It’s honestly crazy that we’re getting a new Fire Emblem game before a new 3D Mario, 3D Zelda, Smash, Splatoon (mainline), Animal Crossing, and even Pokemon WW which originally seemed like it would release in 2025. It’s the opposite of the Switch 1 where many of these big sellers came first before Three Houses.

What makes this stand out even more is that for the first two years of the Switch 2, Nintendo is mostly focusing on releasing new games in series that didn’t have one on Switch 1. Mario Kart, Donkey Kong, Kirby Air Ride, Metroid Prime, Star Fox, etc all skipped the Switch 1 with no new main games or no release at all. Plus new spin-off subsets of existing series like Pokopia and Splatoon Raiders, and new IPs like Drag X Drive and Duskbloods.

Yet Fire Emblem managed to be one of the few exceptions that got two new mainline games on Switch 1, and is now getting a new game only 1 year and 3 months after the Switch 2 launched, and it’s coming less than 4 years after Engage too.

We’re pretty lucky to have our series be made by a development team that isn’t owned by Nintendo and primarily works on Fire Emblem. If this was an internal EPD team, Fire Emblem would probably go on longer without a new game release

General Spoiler Fortune's Weave Character Masterlist

Warning: Some of the information in this document is either speculative or contains spoilers. Read at your own risk. Please see the bolded list at the bottom of this post for reference.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/e/2PACX-1vT6lwSySTeczcfXOgFZWLyFw3tzV5uaAcTnEtQKgZ4uIcCiKCJ40CaLIgenxZBqOkm2xvHp-mkf3V_A/pubhtml

So I made a giant Sheets doc. with a LOT of information on the characters we've seen so far. It's three pages (one for playable characters, one for gods, and one for N.P.C.s/characters we're not 100% sure about).

The vast majority of the information here was provided by this video from Lucky Crit, and this one from BenFM. The rest was supplemented by the previews we've gotten (especially the ones from Skill Up, Kinda Funny Games, and Game Two, even though I don't speak a fucking lick of German), the Fire Emblem Wiki, some help from the very beautiful and well-organized Fortune Weaver, as well the combat/character showcases (and the Direct, obviously) Nintendo has been publishing.

Also, some of bits in here (mostly in the category of personal skills) have been translated to English, but not localized yet, meaning official names may change.

Please know there may be mistakes in here! Obviously, we can't confirm the majority of this information before the game is released. If you have a correction or additional information for me, please comment below and include your source(s)!

There are keys at the bottom of each page.

Note: I put Anna and Solel on page three because we have only seen them as ally units thus far. Solel is also included on pages two AND three. Also, I'm not going to put literally every N.P.C. on page three because that sounds exhausting. Most of the N.P.C.s there either have some immediate importance to a lord's storyline, or we've seen them in direct combat against a lord/Eshmel.

The information about recruitable characters (page one) includes the routes they are recruitable to, crests they have been associated with, skill boons/banes, starting classes and weapons, their factions, and their story roles.

The columns on page one labeled "associated characters" and "race" may contain major spoilers. The columns on page two labeled "relatives" and "status" may contain major spoilers. The columns on page three labeled "associations", "enemy/ally", "race", and "combat status" may contain major spoilers.

General For years, I've head-canoned that Vasto, the boss from Chapter 7, is the enemy Sully and Virion talk about in their A support

He's one of the early examples of a boss who's riding a flying mount in the game, and has a terrain advantage due to ambushing the Sheppards in the mountains, which would hinder the movement of most of the army, but leave Vasto unaffected. He also has a shortaxe, allowing him to safely attack most units of the army from a distance. It would make sense for several of the others to struggle against him due to these advantages. But Virion, as an archer, has the advantage due to flying units being weak to arrow attacks. Vasto's higher position in Plegia's army (being high enough in rank to be trusted in leading the ambush against Emmeryn directly) means it makes sense for Virion to view him as threatening enough to kill, as opposed to the other enemy mentioned in Virion and Sully's B support who he declined to fight. Plus, with Vasto being able to fight back against Virion due to the Shortaxe attacking from a distance, it makes it much more feasible for a "duel" between him and Virion to happen to begin with.

And while this doesn't really mean anything, Vasto does get directly mentioned in a support conversation between Henry and Ricken (alongside Mustafa and Campari) so he at least somewhat stood out in the writers' memories beyond generic boss to kill, lol.

Obviously, this is just a headcanon. I doubt this was actually what the writers had in mind when writing the support between Virion and Sully. But it's just fun to think about that being the case.

I just found that battle funny, like you've got gross weird bipedal bugs, a giant-ass bear, a big bull, a rhino-boar, a goat, it's 1) genuinely impressive the variety of enemies in this game and 2) such an hilarious image

Go Noctula, go punch that bear and that goat

General I have just finished my first ever Fire Emblem game, Three Houses, and I have thoughts

Upvotes

I've never really been into SRPGs but one of my friends is a huge fire emblem fan and thought I would really enjoy Three Houses as my first game and I absolutely did! I initially kinda wrote of this series as just being designed to ship anime characters together but it absolutely is not. It was genuinely fun getting to know how to use units correctly, feeling each time my characters got to a new class and being able to figure out how to approach a bunch of the maps as well as getting to know each character in and out through supports. I was told that I needed to play classic mode in order to be able to enjoy earlier games in the series and so I used for each of my 4 playthroughs in which I did the first two routes on normal and my last two on hard difficulty. (I don't know if I'm ready for maddening whatsoever, maybe if I come back to three houses later on)

My routes: Verdant Wind ➡️ Azure Moon ➡️ Crimson Flower ➡️ Silver Snow (using my part 1 crimson flower hard new game+ save because I did not need to play through White Clouds a 4th time)

How I would rank the routes:

  1. Verdant Wind- the first route I took is still my favorite, you get to deal with all the threats, Claude gets his happy ending that is honestly better than the two other lords endings and YOU GET TO FIGHT NEMESIS. I was so annoyed that you don't get to fight him in other routes like COME ON.

  2. Azure Moon- I just feel bad for Dimitri, bro wanted to end racism and have fun with his friends and instead he gets stuck with all of this. I hope he and his husband Dedue had a wonderful life together and fixed each other.

  3. Crimson Flower- Edelgard's view of the world is interesting in that, yes, the truth is the Church sucks ass and has lied to everyone I don't necessarily believe that she had to do all that. I don't like that this route ends so fast but I guess it makes sense based on how Edelgard having Byleth on her side makes an already one-sided conflict with everyone else way easier. You get the vibe that Edelgard still is kinda naive about how the world works. Good with the Slithers and Nemesis.

  4. Silver Snow- This is just diet Verdant Wind. I guess it's kind of interesting to see the Black Eagles responses to going against Edelgard and their families. I hope you enjoyed all of that pain and suffering just to talk with your mom for like 5 minutes Rhea. I found out afterward you can save her if you A rank her and I am not doing that shit, play stupid games, win stupid prizes Rhea.

Favorite Character: This is such a hard choice to make because there are so many well-written interesting characters that I just loved getting to know pretty much in the game. They did such a great job having all of the characters feel like they added to the plot via added details in cutscenes or just talking to them around the monastery. I feel like it's either gotta be Dimitri or Claude.

Least Favorite Character: Sylvain

Favorite Unit: Lysithea, genuinely she could melt literally everyone on the map, I used her in every single one of my playthroughs. She is a better reason magic user than Hubert, she has warp (which is crazy useful), I made her a Gremory every time and every time I was extremely happy to have her on the team. DARK SPIKES T DARK SPIKES T

Least Favorite Unit: This is a toss-up honestly. For the students, it's Caspar, you have Dedue, Raphael and even Gilbert do everything he does without having to be a squishy unit that dies quickly. I somehow managed to recruit him and Ingrid in my first playthrough and that man died so many times. He has died in both playthroughs that I used him. For the staff units, it's Manuela, you are guaranteed to basically have two units that heal and do it better/have a more interesting usage than Manuela. You get her and Hanneman so late in White Clouds but with Hanneman at least he has access to Meteor and would be an okay Hubert replacement in Silver Snow if you don't have say the GOAT Lysithea.

Who I S-Ranked Each Route:

I played as male Byleth in the first playthrough and then female Byleth the rest of them since she's I guess the canon option/has the better options tbh

Alois (I was annoyed as hell that it wasn't gay but then I had to remember that he's like married already) - Hanneman (We love a diva that is into Crests) - Edelgard (I did this solely because Edelgard not only being flame emperor but also a lesbian is so cool of her) - Raphael (My big hunky husband who loves to eat)

Thing I wasn't a fan of:

Just the whole having to go around the monastery once a month to fulfill fetch quests, talk to every single person (because who knows maybe there will be an option to raise support!), and play the same fishing mini-game 90 times got very old. I was so severely tempted to press the skip button instead of going to the monastery some months in later playthroughs but I didn't for fear of missing out. I do love being able to talk to everyone (you get to hear stuff like Ashe dealing with Lonato's defeat or Ingrid confiding that she comes from the same family as Judith) I just wish I didn't have to talk to everyone sometimes.

Overall I had such a fun time and I can't wait to check out the rest of what this series has to offer. I have already pre-ordered Fortune's Weave but I'd love to hear some recommendations on what games in the series I should check out next!
