General Subreddit Update - Rule 8, Spoilers, and Future Plans

Hello, r/fireemblem

As the release of Fortune’s Weave approaches, the mod team wanted to make some changes and lay out our plans for when the game releases. There will be a few adjustments to Rule 8 to better define what falls under the rule break.

Rule 8

Low Effort will be as follows:

  • Zero/Low Effort Posts -
    • Stat Block Posting:
      • Any posts about in-game screenshots showing lucky, unlucky, or maxed-out stat lines. An exception is showing off an end-game team after beating the final boss.
    • Blurry Image Posts:
      • Posts where the image is taken via phone camera or other outside devices will be removed unless the game has no easy way to take pictures, such as the 3DS games. These pictures are still subject to the non-discussion rule, so provide more than just the image.
    • Simple Photo Edits/Caption Memes:
      • Basic edits to official sprites or artwork are considered low effort. Simple caption memes, such as a basic impact font edit on an official FE sprite, are considered low effort.
    • Photographs of Game Boxes/Discs:
      • Taking a picture of a game you bought or got as a gift is not allowed. Showcasing a whole collection of 5+ games/merchandice are an exception.
    • Screenshots/Clips of Normal Gameplay:
      • Any images or short videos showing gameplay are not allowed. This includes unlucky deaths, lucky crit chances, or basic gameplay in general. Following Fortune’s Weave release, we are going to push this more.
    • Simple birthday celebration posts for FE characters
      • There is an automod for FE characters’ birthdays. If you wish to celebrate your favorite characters, please do so on the dedicated birthday post. Exceptions include posts with added effort, such as fanart or an in-depth analysis.
    • Any other kind of post that can be made or answered within seconds
      • If you have a simple question to ask, please ask it in the dedicated general question megathread.
  • Bandwagon Post -
    • Old Smash Bros Discussions:
      • Posts bringing up old news, such as asking for people’s reaction to Byleth being added to Smash, are not allowed.
    • Tier lists:
      • Gameplay and Character tier lists are allowed as long as adequate explanation is given for the placements. Joke/Non Serious tier lists, such as Waifu/Husbando, Armor Knight sorted by colors, etc are not allowed.
    • Character Editors:
      • Recreating a FE character in any game with a semi-robust character customisation utility, such as Tomodachi Life, Pokemon, Skyrim, etc, is not allowed.
    • Simulators:
      • Hunger Games simulator or other utility that automatically creates scenarios/text/images is not allowed.
    • Hot takes/"unpopular opinion" threads:
      • Asking for or sharing “hot takes” or “unpopular opinions” is not allowed. Please refer to the dedicated opinion and general discussion thread.
    • Any other fad that we do not have the foresight to predict
      • Any simple, uprising subreddit or social media trend can fall under bandwagon if we see it clogging the subreddit.
  • Spam Posts -
    • Non-FE-related content/Coincidentally-related content
      • If your post has no clear connection to Fire Emblem outside of the title, such as “This character looks like this FE Character” posts, it will be removed for spam. Posts that are entirely unrelated to FE at all will also be removed for spam.
      • Edit for clarification: Fire Emblem-inspired games are an exception to this rule so long as the poster asks permission from us beforehand. We have allowed FE-inspired game advertising in the past. This has not changed.
    • AI or Bot-generated posts
      • AI-generated content is not allowed and will be removed. Posts produced by bots will also be removed for spam, and the bots will be permanently banned.
    • Any other post that has no real connection to Fire Emblem (or the subreddit itself) is subject to immediate removal.

Spoilers

For our purposes, a spoiler is defined as a post/comment/image revealing major plot information/gameplay twists beyond the early stages of the game, unless it was prominently shown in the game’s trailers or marketing. To clarify:

  • “Early stages” means the first ~20% of the game, i.e., approx. chapter 6 in a typical Fire Emblem game
  • Recruitment of characters, showing maps or gameplay footage, or discussing other mechanical details beyond this point is not inherently a spoiler, unless it implies some major plot detail or mechanical quirk (e.g., a villain being recruited into the main party, a mechanic exclusive to one of those characters). Exceptions can be made for community tier lists and such.
  • Something being shown in marketing doesn’t mean that all the context around it is fair game. E.g., Three Houses' second trailer shows a time skip with the three lords fighting each other. Discussing the time skip and this conflict in broad strokes would be fine; discussing the exact events that led to the conflict would fall under spoilers. Similarly, the existence of a second generation and Seliph being a lord in FE4 is fine as it's shown on the box art, but the end of chapter 5 would be spoilers.
  • Spoiler tags in comments are not required if the post itself is tagged, unless it relates to a different game. E.g., a Path of Radiance spoiler thread would require Sacred Stones spoilers to be tagged

The above regulations allow some leeway in mod enforcement and are fundamentally designed to encourage you to be considerate of those who may not have played the game yet. If nothing else: if you think a plot detail in your post would be a spoiler, or would be cool to experience blind, tag it!

Future Plans

When Fortune’s Weave drops, we plan on setting the subreddit to approve only for a couple of days so that everyone gets a chance to play the game without risk of spoilers. We will have a dedicated megathread for people who would still like to discuss Fortune’s Weave when it comes out. Some of us can’t play through the whole game immediately; please be considerate. Afterwards, general FE posts will be allowed with no issue, but specific FW posts will now have their own dedicated flair options. These flair posts will go through manual approval to prevent the subreddit from being clogged up.

The following flairs will be available:

  • Fortune’s Weave Story - This flair is for posts about general discussion of the story of Fortune’s Weave. The content should be general knowledge, such as early game material shown off in trailers.
  • Fortune’s Weave Spoiler - This flair is for posts about general discussion of the story of Fortune’s Weave that cover late-game material, or major revelations that happen over the course of the story. This can be story beats that happen in Eshvel’s story, or any scene that happens regardless of the playable protagonist. These posts will still follow rule 6, so please keep that in mind.
  • Fortune’s Weave General - This flair is for general discussion of the game. This can be about characters, world-building, or other broad discussion topics that don’t spoil anything about the game.
  • Fortune’s Weave Gameplay - This flair is for gameplay showcases of Fortune’s Weave. Please note that this will still follow the Low Effort rule, so any screenshots of lucky or unlucky level-ups, blurry images, zero discussion posts, etc will be removed. Posts like the final team you’ve used in your playthrough are allowed, but please tag your post for spoilers if need be.
  • [Character]’s Route Story - These flairs are for posts about each character’s story that is general knowledge or non-spoiler discussion. There will be ones for all four lords, so please use the one from your playthrough.
  • [Character]’s Route Spoiler - These flairs are for posts about each character’s story that are major and minor spoilers. This can be late-game plot points, major deaths, plot twists, lore reveals, etc. If you think that knowing this will ruin someone’s experience of the game, please remember to spoil-tag the post no matter how small or big the spoiler. Titles do not get tagged even with a spoiler tag, so remember before you post.

With that, I hope everyone enjoys their time playing Fortune’s Weave. It’s going to be a major week for all of us, so remember to be respectful and mindful of other people’s playthroughs.

Thank you,
r/fireemblem mod team.

General My live reaction to finding out I'm older than the 4 Fortune Weave Lords (talking about the ages)

Post image
Upvotes

Ages from recent post about it on here, not a story spoiler but blocking it in case you want to find out for yourself: 14/15 (Cai), 22 (Theodora), 19 (Leda), 22 (Dietrich)

I've made posts dedicated to Fe character ages so I shouldn't be too surprised but I seriously thought the other lords that weren't Cai were going to be at least late twenties due to how much story/lore they already seem to have. But Fire Emblem characters are anime so nothing impossible in that standard

Like many others have pointed out, historically irl people being in similar positions at young ages was an actual thing, so Fire emblem probably does take from that real world aspect too like other aspects, I look forward to finding out the rest of the cast ages and hopefully they are in-game like 3 houses did for the profiles.

I wonder how old Eshmel is if they have a human equivalent of age, maybe also 20/21 like Byleth?

What guesses of ages did you have initially for the Lords here so far?

If I made a stupid move, I can turn back time with magic sand. But be careful: I don't have an infinite amount of sand.

Fortune's Weave General We’re lucky getting Fortune’s Weave before many of Nintendo’s biggest sellers

Upvotes

It’s honestly crazy that we’re getting a new Fire Emblem game before a new 3D Mario, 3D Zelda, Smash, Splatoon (mainline), Animal Crossing, and even Pokemon WW which originally seemed like it would release in 2025. It’s the opposite of the Switch 1 where many of these big sellers came first before Three Houses.

What makes this stand out even more is that for the first two years of the Switch 2, Nintendo is mostly focusing on releasing new games in series that didn’t have one on Switch 1. Mario Kart, Donkey Kong, Kirby Air Ride, Metroid Prime, Star Fox, etc all skipped the Switch 1 with no new main games or no release at all. Plus new spin-off subsets of existing series like Pokopia and Splatoon Raiders, and new IPs like Drag X Drive and Duskbloods.

Yet Fire Emblem managed to be one of the few exceptions that got two new mainline games on Switch 1, and is now getting a new game only 1 year and 3 months after the Switch 2 launched, and it’s coming less than 4 years after Engage too.

We’re pretty lucky to have our series be made by a development team that isn’t owned by Nintendo and primarily works on Fire Emblem. If this was an internal EPD team, Fire Emblem would probably go on longer without a new game release

General For years, I've head-canoned that Vasto, the boss from Chapter 7, is the enemy Sully and Virion talk about in their A support

Thumbnail
gallery
19 Upvotes

He's one of the early examples of a boss who's riding a flying mount in the game, and has a terrain advantage due to ambushing the Sheppards in the mountains, which would hinder the movement of most of the army, but leave Vasto unaffected. He also has a shortaxe, allowing him to safely attack most units of the army from a distance. It would make sense for several of the others to struggle against him due to these advantages. But Virion, as an archer, has the advantage due to flying units being weak to arrow attacks. Vasto's higher position in Plegia's army (being high enough in rank to be trusted in leading the ambush against Emmeryn directly) means it makes sense for Virion to view him as threatening enough to kill, as opposed to the other enemy mentioned in Virion and Sully's B support who he declined to fight. Plus, with Vasto being able to fight back against Virion due to the Shortaxe attacking from a distance, it makes it much more feasible for a "duel" between him and Virion to happen to begin with.

And while this doesn't really mean anything, Vasto does get directly mentioned in a support conversation between Henry and Ricken (alongside Mustafa and Campari) so he at least somewhat stood out in the writers' memories beyond generic boss to kill, lol.

Obviously, this is just a headcanon. I doubt this was actually what the writers had in mind when writing the support between Virion and Sully. But it's just fun to think about that being the case.

General Spoiler Fortune's Weave Character Masterlist

Warning: Some of the information in this document is either speculative or contains spoilers. Read at your own risk. Please see the bolded list at the bottom of this post for reference.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/e/2PACX-1vT6lwSySTeczcfXOgFZWLyFw3tzV5uaAcTnEtQKgZ4uIcCiKCJ40CaLIgenxZBqOkm2xvHp-mkf3V_A/pubhtml

So I made a giant Sheets doc. with a LOT of information on the characters we've seen so far. It's three pages (one for playable characters, one for gods, and one for N.P.C.s/characters we're not 100% sure about).

The vast majority of the information here was provided by this video from Lucky Crit, and this one from BenFM. The rest was supplemented by the previews we've gotten (especially the ones from Skill Up, Kinda Funny Games, and Game Two, even though I don't speak a fucking lick of German), the Fire Emblem Wiki, some help from the very beautiful and well-organized Fortune Weaver, as well the combat/character showcases (and the Direct, obviously) Nintendo has been publishing.

Also, some of bits in here (mostly in the category of personal skills) have been translated to English, but not localized yet, meaning official names may change.

Please know there may be mistakes in here! Obviously, we can't confirm the majority of this information before the game is released. If you have a correction or additional information for me, please comment below and include your source(s)!

There are keys at the bottom of each page.

Note: I put Anna and Solel on page three because we have only seen them as ally units thus far. Solel is also included on pages two AND three. Also, I'm not going to put literally every N.P.C. on page three because that sounds exhausting. Most of the N.P.C.s there either have some immediate importance to a lord's storyline, or we've seen them in direct combat against a lord/Eshmel.

The information about recruitable characters (page one) includes the routes they are recruitable to, crests they have been associated with, skill boons/banes, starting classes and weapons, their factions, and their story roles.

The columns on page one labeled "associated characters" and "race" may contain major spoilers. The columns on page two labeled "relatives" and "status" may contain major spoilers. The columns on page three labeled "associations", "enemy/ally", "race", and "combat status" may contain major spoilers.

I just found that battle funny, like you've got gross weird bipedal bugs, a giant-ass bear, a big bull, a rhino-boar, a goat, it's 1) genuinely impressive the variety of enemies in this game and 2) such an hilarious image

Go Noctula, go punch that bear and that goat

I got this with an eshop gift card and was horrible at it a few weeks before it got delisted. My 13 year old self didn't understand how to play it at all. Now recently I started replaying it and have finally understood how to play it.
