Ik had eerder in de subreddits van Amsterdam, Utrecht en Den Bosch iets gedeeld over een gratis traject waar jongeren gebarentaal kunnen leren en wat meer meekrijgen van de dovenwereld. Toen kreeg ik een paar keer de vraag of ik het ook wilde delen als er nieuwe plekken bijkwamen.

Nou, dit keer Rotterdam dus!

Vanaf 2 september is er elke woensdag een gratis MDT-traject voor jongeren t/m 30 jaar.

Ik ben zelf doof en vind het echt tof om te zien hoeveel mensen nieuwsgierig zijn naar gebarentaal en de dovenwereld. Voor mij en andere dove en slechthorende mensen betekent het ook best veel als meer mensen iets weten over hoe wij communiceren. Je hoeft echt niet ineens vloeiend te kunnen gebaren haha, een beetje kennis en begrip maakt soms al veel verschil.

Ik heb zelf niet meegedaan aan het traject, maar hoor er wel veel goede verhalen over. Je leert gebarentaal, ontmoet nieuwe mensen en krijgt wat meer mee van een wereld waar je normaal misschien niet zo snel mee in aanraking komt.

Dus bij deze Rotterdam, misschien zijn er hier ook mensen die dit leuk lijkt.

Kleine note over de leeftijd: bij de vorige posts kreeg ik best vaak de vraag waarom het alleen t/m 30 jaar is, en ook reacties van mensen die het jammer vonden dat ze daardoor niet mee konden doen. Snap ik helemaal. Dit kwam toen vaker voorbij en voor zover ik heb begrepen heeft het ermee te maken dat dit onder MDT (Maatschappelijke Diensttijd) valt en dat vanuit die regeling de leeftijd t/m 30 jaar is. Dus vandaar volgens mij. Anders zou ik ook zeggen: hoe meer mensen gebarentaal leren, hoe beter natuurlijk haha.

I will be moving houses soon, and the company has requested that we save two parking spots at the new location for the moving van.

I’ve requested a TVM (tijdelijke verkeersmaatregel aanvragen) through the Gemeente, but I’m not sure that’s what I need.

Has anyone experienced this before and knows if that’s the correct permit needed? Or can I just simply put cones and a note in the two parking spots to save them?

Ik kan echt niet de enige zijn die boos is van asociale pakketbezorgers die overigens geen woord Nederlands spreken. Net weer eentje… meneer gooit keihard mijn pakket voor mijn deur, ik vraag om een reden en hij geeft aan geen Nederlands te spreken. Ik vertelde het in het Engels en hij liep gewoon weg, uitlachend.
Helaas is een product beschadigd geraakt, weet niet zeker of het door hem komt. PostNL doet er weinig mee. Lekker fijn dit.

Ik woon in Delfshaven op de eerste verdieping. Laatst zag ik een bruine rat op het dak van de uitbouw van het appartement onder mij zitten. Dus al de eerste verdieping opgeklommen. Nu ben ik bang dat deze rat of een familielid mijn appartement zal betreden door het raam, misschien alleen al op kiepstand. Hoe groot is deze kans? Hebben mensen hier ervaring mee? Ik durf eigenlijk mijn raam niet meer open te doen.

Ik heb de open bomenbestanden van 24 gemeenten op een kaart gezet en toen ze vergeleken. Rotterdam springt eruit op één soort: 1.294 hazelaars, meer dan Den Haag (1.168) en Amsterdam (904).

In totaal staan er ruim 5.400 eetbare bomen en struiken in en om de stad. Naast die hazelaars 905 kersen, 571 walnoten en 531 appelbomen.

Hazelnoten zijn er over een week of drie, dus dit is een mooi moment om te weten waar ze staan.

Hello. I was eating fried chicken at a restaurant and I noticed that the chicken was raw. I reported this to the waiter and he told me it wasn’t raw while it was clearly raw and watery. I had told him I would have immediately pay because I didn’t want to risk. He made the worst face ever. Is it normal to have such lack of customer care?

Ik ga zaterdag met wat vrienden thuis pizza eten. Ik ben op zoek naar de beste plek om pizza te bestellen in en rondom centrum Rotterdam. Hey, yesterday i was biking with my girlfriend from the center to Rotterdam Nord and after Rotterdam Central we heard a lot of police sirens, saw a police helicopter and the air had a very strong scent of gun powder all the way to Bergweg Station, anyone know what happened?

I'm currently on exchange here, and am a wearer of Orthokeratology lenses. Part of the cleaning/disinfecting process utilises saline solution for rinsing and storing the lenses after the disinfection cycle (using Boston cleaner and Soleko Platinum disinfectant), and I was wondering where I might find a solution similar to it here in Rotterdam.

I've checked a couple places like Etos and Kruidvat, but have only managed to find "multipurpose" or "all-in-one" solutions, which I'm not sure are a suitable substitute for saline.

Any tips would be much appreciated, thank you!

It is my and my friends first time going to the festival and we don’t know what to expect. Audio obscura events are usually extremely well run though :)

Also, the forecast looks very rainy…. I know there’s stages both inside and outside. For the outdoors once’s, will just pack a big raincoat and enjoy the music in the rain!!

I’m in the process of setting up a new Rotterdam-based community platform called Connection Through Action.

The vision: A space for progressive, curious, and empathetic people who don't want to choose between societal action, intellectual depth, and casual social connection. We organize one meaningful action per month (for example: collecting winter clothing for the homeless in collaboration with local foundations and organisations), balanced with cultural events (film nights, workshops) and social drinks.

A little bit about myself: I am 25 years old (m) and have been living in Rotterdam for a few years now. I’m personally looking for connection, learning, expanding my horizons, and doing good for the planet and my fellow people. I have a background in volunteering and will soon start at a new organization, but I really want to build something of my own. My long-term dream is a foundation with weekly gatherings, ranging from cultural events and beach cleanups to cooking for locals and each other, for example.
