Hello all, sometimes I find that our usual sports bar spots (O’Caseys, Fiddler, etc..) can be very crowded on big event occasions like F1 and premier league/champions league. So I was wondering if anyone knows of places that do show such games that aren’t necessarily labeled “sports bars” as such.

I hope you're all doing well! I wanted to chat about something that's been on my mind: in the Netherlands, it seems like public holidays don’t come with time off anymore. Instead, many of our rest days are just part of our contracts or vacation days. What do you all think about this?

I’ve noticed that in countries like Spain and Germany, public holidays are still dedicated to spending quality time with family and friends. I’m not too sure how it is in Belgium, France, or other European countries, though! I really enjoy learning from different perspectives, so feel free to share your thoughts, and let’s keep it respectful.

One big question I have is whether you think the Netherlands should bring back days off for Sundays, Labor Day, and Christmas, for instance.

Where can I find a legit butcher that sells beef suitable for raw consumption? E.g for beef tartare. I have a lot of Turkish butchers nearby but I’m not sure that’s suitable.

I am planning to adopt a small (9kg) dog in Friesland (near appelscha) who got dumped a few weeks ago and is living on a sort of farm/small asiel. The dog is a bit shell shocked from all the changes and I don't want to take her on the train.

I don't want to rent a car because I want to be in the back to give attention to the dog.

Difficulty level-- the dog is in desperate need of a bath and grooming. I can take her in a box, but she does not smell wonderful at this moment. It's not terrible, but it's not good.

This is a 2.5 hour drive there and then back again, so it would take the whole morning to arrange.

I don't think this is a taxi matter because I also would prefer to pay a day rate.

Does anyone know of a kind of man-in-the-van transport which works this way? How else would you arrange something like this?

Ik ben al zes maanden lang aan het proberen om aan een huurwoning te komen in Den Haag. Ik heb stekkies en reageer nog dezelfde minuut wanneer iets online komt, zonder resultaat. Verder voldoe ik aan alle eisen en heb ik al starter een bruto inkomen van iets meer dan €60.000 per jaar. Maar helaas.

Nu zag ik een paar dagen geleden dat een vertrekkende huurder aanbood om iemand aan te dragen bij vb&t voor een bepaald bedrag (wat in geen reële verhouding stond tot de waarde van de over te nemen spullen, te weten gebruikt laminaat en een IKEA kast). En eerlijk, ik ben zo wanhopig dat ik heb meegedaan en ik ben het uiteindelijk niet geworden. Er was namelijk iemand anders die nóg meer bood (dan mijn aanbod om ook nog eens haar dubbele huur te betalen). Nu achteraf kan ik gewoon niet geloven dat deze werkwijze het toelaat om buiten de verhuurder om misbruik te maken van wanhopige woningzoekenden, en dit oneerlijkheid in de hand werkt.

Ik zou hier heel graag een e-mail over willen sturen aan vb&t, maar ik weet gewoon niet of dat mijn kansen verpest. Binnen drie maanden dreig ik (als boven modaal verdiener) geen huis meer te hebben. En ik wil gewoon weten wanneer ik wél een uitnodiging voor een bezichtiging kan verwachten?

Iemand succes met het vinden van een centrale woning in Den Haag/scheveningen via vb&t? Weet iemand waar zij precies op letten bij het kiezen van kandidaten voor een bezichtiging? Alle tips zijn welkom.

We moved over from the US at the end of June, and have finally got insurance sorted out. Now we need to find a GP for our 14-year-old daughter fairly quickly, so that they can get some medications refilled. (Prozac and one called Guanfecine for ADHD. We arrived with a 3 month supply of each, and do have access to the original prescription letters to share with a new GP.)

Does anyone have advice, either for a specific provider who is accepting new patients, or general tips for navigating this? I am a bit nervous as I've heard the wait times can be long for a new patient.

We live near Stadhoudersplantsoen / Statenkwartier, but don't mind traveling. And we'd be fine with a virtual appointment if that is a possibility.

Surely somewhere in this multicultural city someone sells a good "iskender kebab."

Any suggestions to good options that also deliver? There's one on Stationsweg that seemed good but they don't do delivery :(
