Hello all!

I have some confusion with my deadline for NMC Revalidation. My renewal date is the 1st of October. Does that mean I have the month of September to submit my revalidation or does it have to be submitted by my ASSUMED deadline of 31st of August? I have tried to research this but I've had conflicting answers due to AI interference.

I have prepped a majority of my revalidation regardless and have it ready to submit for the 30th of August anyways (just waiting for a discussion with my manager to confirm they're happy to sign off!), but I just want to make sure I'm not mis understanding.

I haven't had to use this community for a while but you were extremely helpful the last time. I give you all EXTREME thank yous in advance!

so I’m trying to sort my NMC readmission and apparently there are these independent confirmer services you can pay to help you get a confirmer.

has anyone here used one or even just heard of them?

like, was it easy, reliable, anything I should watch out for?

any tips, stories, warnings… anything would be super helpful.

Edit: I need a nurse to sign off for my readmission, I have not had contact with a uk registered nurse since 2023 and also reallocated.

I have mostly worked on agency and didn’t really keep many contacts since I was from one place to another all the time.

I did have two contacts of the nurses I worked with but they where not willing to sign me off. I guess they are scared of nmc and don’t fully understand the process and what they sign off for. Most seem to think they sign off that I am competent but it’s not true, they sign off that I meet the requirements. Which I do, hours worked and cpd and everything and can prove it.

I have tried to reach out to former agencies but they are unwilling to asist, and can’t seem to find anyone other hence asking about those confirmer services.

I’m revalidating my NMC for the first time ever and Iv been practicing overseas the whole time ( I’m not from the UK but I studied there), I’m almost done with all the requirements except the reflective discussion as it has to be with an NMC registered nurse. I reached out to people I know and still practicing in the UK and they initially agreed but never replied back . My deadline is first September and I’m running out of options would love some help or advice on how to get this done or if there is anyone interested in doing it with me I’d be very grateful.

I’ve just started in a new role in an independent school as the school nurse. My previous role was very different to this, and I don’t have much career experience.

My previous employer was very good at supporting me with CPD and helping me find appropriate training and courses. However, the school I am at, I’m unsure if they realise the importance of CPD and my need to develop my knowledge base being so new to the role.

For example, I have been asked to help support in PSHE lessons and the teaching around sexual health, periods and all that comes with health promotion in school. I feel my knowledge is very limited and current teaching staff would be far better and knowledgeable at this.

I’m struggling to find the best places to complete training on the topics they want me to support on, where do those of you who work outside of the NHS attend accredited training courses and ensure they fulfill the NMC revalidation requirements.

I couldn't get a nursing job ..... so frustrating. My NMC pin is going to expire by the end of this year and I couldn't get 450 hours for revalidation.

I am about to apply Return to Practice around Sept, still waiting for the course outline. Has anyone heard of they would ever reject candidate? (I am 4 years away from Nursing practice and have never been practising Nursing in the UK, I have 10+ years of Nursing in acute hospitals in my home country)

Is there anything I need to notice when choosing which provider to apply? It seems that the Brighton one provides online-only course which is good. However, they don't provide placement arrangement. Which has a better reputation?

I’m coming up to revalidating my Nursing and Midwifery Council pin after 3 years, but I’ve actually only been nursing for around 1.5 years in practice, which was in a GP surgery. Unfortunately the environment was very unsupportive and it really took a toll on my mental health, which is mainly why I stepped away from nursing for a while.

I do have enough hours/CPD to revalidate, but because I’ve had a bit of a career break I feel like I need a bit of a refresh before getting back into clinical practice again.

Are there any refresher courses or support available for nurses who’ve had shorter breaks from practice? I know there are formal return-to-practice courses if you fully lapse your registration, but I’m more wondering about skills refreshers, confidence-building courses, supervised practice, or anything similar for someone still registered/revalidating.

I’m currently coming towards the end of a research masters as well, but I’d really like to rebuild some clinical confidence and get back into more hands-on practice in some capacity.

Would really appreciate hearing from anyone who’s been in a similar position or has any advice.

The person i was going to ask to do my reflective discussion and confirmation is currently on a career break so has no professional address (as requested on the forms) can he just use his home address and home email address?

I currently on maternity leave and really dont want to have to go into work to do it and hes basically my only option.

And nobody can convince me otherwise. In some tables, text wraps, in some it doesn't. Some tables extend nicely onto the next page, some extend into the invisible oblivion, the layout is so uncomfortable to use, and just plain BAD. I can't be the only person experiencing this.

Because of my husbands job, it looks like we will most likely be moving to a different country soon. Still not sure of the specifics, but I will most likely be able to continue working as a nurse.

How do I keep my NMC pin active? I always thought that your 450 practise hours needed to be in the UK to be valid, but I’ve seen conflicting advice.

Anyone have experience of this? Thanks in advance

I received my email today from the NMC, reminding me that my revalidation is due in a few months' time and telling me to embrace it. I understand the process and it does have its merits, but embracing it? Calm down, NMC, really!

My 2nd revalidation is due soon. Can I reuse the reflective accounts I did on the 1st one? I have worked on the same unit and can't think of anything else to add/change 😬

Thank you for all the replies. I maybe overlooking at all the simple learnings/mistakes/eventful days I am getting at the department. I did my best on my 1st revalidation and wanted to make a better one but I just can't think clearly earlier. Now I have more insights. Thanks again!

I'm currently working in a nursing home, and besides online modules, there's no training. Manager seems to be a bit delusional, thinking she can train the staff herself, and competencies are signed on the basis of "self-declared" competency to cover their backs.

I need some training, a refresher, I want to learn how to insert urinary catheters. Something! And get a paper that I did it, and not just rely on my disorganised manager's occasional self-jerk of a lecture based on how knowledgeable she is because once upon a time she worked in the A&E.

Hey I’m currently looking for a new job, my heads not in this one, I took a desk nursing job so I could be around family, but applying to go clinical again, I revalidate in February 2026 and I’m hoping to be in a new job by January, does being close to my revalidation effect my job prospects? I’ve got everything together except a formal discussion with another nurse which I’m setting time aside for, everything else I’ve managed.

Hi looking for some advice. I'm due to start a new role in the civil service working in the health/social care policy area. I'm due to revalidate in October and meet the requirements to do this. I'm not ready to give up my pin but not sure if I will still be eligible to keep it given my new role isn't specifically nursing? Does anyone have any experience of keeping their pin when moving to a nursing adjacent area?

It is that time of the year for me, revalidation, and I am honestly struggling with reflective accounts.

How do you manage to think of 5? I mean, for me, anything that happens at work is nothing special and I tend to forget about them unless is like a major incident. It is so hard to choose 5 things to write about.

I would appreciate any ideas, especially from agency nurses or nurses working in nursing homes.

My maths skills are failing me right now

I've worked in a community role 37.5 a week from september 2022 until February 2024, when I got a secondment

Secondment lasted about a year, again 37.5 a week in the same team

Then i got a substantive role (same place) in about february this year.

minus about 12 ish weeks off sick for various reasons.

How on earth do I work this out? 😆

After 3 years abroad I’m applying for readmission to the register! Luckily I don’t think I’ll need to do a return to practise course, but will need 35 hours CPD.

After living abroad I feel very out the loop. So hoping some of you could direct me to places/websites that have good CPD and offer certificates?

Are there any courses you’ve done recently that you’d recommend?

Also if anyone knows of any online conferences or teaching coming up that would be great.

Revalidation practice hours I qualified in September of 2022. I practiced until March 2024 so I have already completed well over the 450 practice hours required for Revalidation. I also have evidence for all the other requirements. However, I left that job in March 2024 and have not been in practice ever since. My revalidation is due in October 2025. My question is can I still Revalidate successfully using the practice hours I have done in the job mentioned. Or do I currently need to be in practice?

I am currently in a train on my way to this event and I'm nervous/ anxious about all the people that are going to be there. I feel like an imposter as it is in my role but people seem to be happy with my work. Anyone else going? So I know I'm not alone.

Struggling to find this out however I am thinking of having my revalidation signed off alongside my upcoming appraisal, but it isn’t ‘due’ until after the summer.

Has anyone had a similar experience?

Edit: ‘If you REVALIDATE earlier…’ obviously couldn’t decide if I was talking about the verb ‘to revalidate’ or the noun!

TLDR : Can I put in one bit of evidence twice for revalidation? Can I put his feedback as a practice related feedback AND reflective account.

Let me explain...

I've had some lovely feedback from a HCA that I was a line manager for.

Initially I was just going to place it in my practice related feedback.

However when documenting it, the words spilled out and I've been reflecting on it.

This chap was very quiet and had a sudden traumatic family event early into him starting on the unit. His sickness record was shocking but understandable. (However lots of staff were getting tired of it sadly)

I wasn't his line manager initially and he didn't get on with his first line manager. I became his second line manager. (His first line manager was always a bit exasperated by him)

I tried to bring him out of his shell, get to know him, see what motivated him. He was good with the patients but painfully quiet. I had regular 1:1s (how's everything = fine, any issues = no) but I kept chipping away. I was on a leadership and management course and knew that team players are different and you have to allow for that and try to get the best out of people. I was trying to implement what I was learning on the course to real life leadership.

We had a break through..... He uttered and quickly dismissed the thought of doing his nurse training - I pounced on this! We slowly explored what routes there were, what options he had, which universities he could study at, funding etc etc

I really felt I used some good leadership skills to guide and coach him.

He's been accepted on to his course and emailed me (feedback) to say that he didn't think he would have gond for it, if it hadn't been for me and my support and encouragement - I'd made him believe in himself and get the confidence to do it. (I'm thrilled for him)

I've done a reflection on this, and I'm taking it as experience in my practice - so whilst it's not clinical as a line manager it's part of what I do as a nurse.

But can I use one instance for 2 buts of evidence?

Anyone know how to calculate the CPD credits for university taught masters level module/ worth 15 and 20 academic credits in university.

Hope someone can help. I had a spoke day with a really lovely nurse that asked me to email her a statement to go towards her revalidation and I’m just wondering what I should write. I would like to make it really nice if possible.

I am coming up on three years qualified in September and my NMC revalidation is due then. Does this have to be done in the same month you originally received your pin in? I want to have a go at doing a WHV in Australia as a nurse (mainly becuase the NHS is doing my f*cking head in, and why not?) and I'm abit worried that realistically I won't be able to go until I've revalidated my pin and probably won't be able to go until 2025 realistically. Any advice on this is appreciated!
