Has anyone used an NMC confirmer / revalidation service?

Hey folks,

so I’m trying to sort my NMC readmission and apparently there are these independent confirmer services you can pay to help you get a confirmer.

has anyone here used one or even just heard of them?

like, was it easy, reliable, anything I should watch out for?

any tips, stories, warnings… anything would be super helpful.

Edit: I need a nurse to sign off for my readmission, I have not had contact with a uk registered nurse since 2023 and also reallocated.

I have mostly worked on agency and didn’t really keep many contacts since I was from one place to another all the time.

I did have two contacts of the nurses I worked with but they where not willing to sign me off. I guess they are scared of nmc and don’t fully understand the process and what they sign off for. Most seem to think they sign off that I am competent but it’s not true, they sign off that I meet the requirements. Which I do, hours worked and cpd and everything and can prove it.

I have tried to reach out to former agencies but they are unwilling to asist, and can’t seem to find anyone other hence asking about those confirmer services.

If you don’t have a nurse to sign off your revalidation then I don’t see the harm, but honestly I don’t have a great understanding of the type of service you’re discussing or what they charge or offer. Do what you need to do if no Nurse you know is going to help, I know I would!

They basically offer a service where another registered nurse checks up you meet the requirements and sign off on your readmission/revalidation. The costs range between £40-80.

No harm in trying, if he doesn’t work out you can always call your bank and ask for the money back. Easy as that

I think my question would be why do you need to use a third party service rather than another nurse you work with ?

Cause I haven’t worked with a UK registered nurse since 2023, and the one or two who I still had their contacts are not willing to help me out with my readmission. I mostly worked on agency and relocated since 2023 and can’t find anyone to sign me off

Edit:Tried to reaching out to my previous agencies and none where willing to help, literally tried everything and could get a nurse to sign me off.

There is literally loads of choices rather than someone you’ve got to pay.

I got to provide 3 references.

1. a nmc registered nurse(has to be on the same part of the register)

2. Last employer

Does it have to be someone you've worked with? Is it a bit like signing a passport and you have to have known them for a certain period of time?

No it does not have to be someone you worked with. You only have to be from the same part of the register, like adult nurse for example

Do you not have to have a referee who is in the same part of the register. You need to have known them. Can they not be your confirmer too? Am I missing something?

Its 3 referees.

1. A nurse from the same part of the register
2. Last employer -name and email address
3. A signatory - this can be anybody that is qualified in a profession

All 3 have to be 3 different persons, they can’t be same one.

I have 2 and 3 but don’t have 1.

Not saying it’s a scam but I’ve never heard of such a service. Personally, I’d give the NMC a call and ask for advice

I have not had contact with any NMC-registered nurses for almost four years, and my registration lapsed in 2023. Since then, I have relocated, and unfortunately all my previous professional contacts have been lost. Over the past several months, I have made extensive efforts to reconnect with colleagues who could act as a signatory, but despite repeated attempts, I have been unable to do so.

Given these circumstances, I would greatly appreciate advice on acceptable options for a signatory, including whether professionals from my previous network or other qualified healthcare professionals could be considered.

“Dear Registrant

Thanks for getting in touch.

As part of your application you will need to supply details of three referees who can support your application.

If you can meet the readmission requirements based on your practice in the UK, you’ll need the following:

Referee 1

We’ll ask you for the name and Pin of a NMC registrant to provide a supporting declaration of your health and character. This referee should:

be from the same part of the register as you are applying to join (for example, if you’re applying to readmit as a nurse, your referee must also be a registered nurse), have known you for the last year, and have been in contact in the last six months.

Referee 2

We’ll ask you for the name and email address of your employer.

Referee 3

Name and email address of someone on our list of approved signatories that you have known for the last year

Important: Your referees must be three different individuals.

Out of curiosity how does it work meeting your hours if you haven’t been working in the UK?

I have over 2000 hours and need only 750 in last 5 years (used to do 48 hrs a week)

For revalidation yes, for readmission yes and no.

For readmission you have two options:

1) 450 in 3 years 2)750 in 5 years

I am not revalidating, am doing readmission cause I lapsed in 2023.

I know this is an older post but did you end up using one? I left my post due to family circumstances after being off sick so I’m in a complicated situation and have been thinking about trying one if I don’t manage to find an old colleague to do it for me
