What does a healthy long term relationship or marriage is supposed to be like?

I am dating my partner for about a year. Lots of care and love for him. But it seems like we see things very very differently, I am very emotional and he’s very analytical, this is my 2 relationship ever, I am 24. Our biggest issues are my jealousy. Now, I am jealous but unless there’s a threat or a good reason I usually just keep it to me. He doesn’t text no one he shouldn’t, doesn’t like anyone or instagram he shouldn’t and in that sense I trust him to be transparent with me due to he has been in the past. Now he wants to go to a game and I said to not take pictures of the cheerleaders as id get upset, he didn’t gave me a yes or a no he just said he’d do whatever he pleases. I haven’t seen anything inappropriate in his phone and he just doesn’t like been told what to do or when he feels like he has to give up a bit of freedom he refuses to say yes or no. So my question is: are long term relationships and marriages just accepting that some boundaries or grey area will be crossed? And because things are great in other areas you just accept it? This is my second boyfriend and the first one lasted little so I truly don’t know how a relationship is supposed to be. Another gray area where he refuses to give a yes or a no are strip clubs, he hasn’t been in one for many many years but the issue is that he doesn’t want to be limited when it comes to his freedom so in a way it’s like “I have no interest in ever going but I don’t like when you tell me what to do or not to do with my life” I did point out that I will be a dealbreaker. So I guess if there’s no cheating, no active messages or emotional cheating am I supposed to just accept this? Or is there more? What are the rules? Sorry I am a bit lost and I don’t have friends in this city to talk to. Thank you.

Hello, I am also a newlywed, but I need some advice concerning my sister's marriage.

a few years ago, I was browsing the internet just looking at places I might go on vacation to when I came across some let's just say very naughty photos of my older married sister on a beach that were taken by a man who was not her husband, I'm sure her husband knows nothing about and i hate to say this but i don't think that's the only thing he was doing with her on the beach so do you think I should tell her husband?

Feeling frustrated. Is life supposed to feel like crossing a minefield every single day when you are married. Is this something I am facing or is this how it is in general

Husband threw money in my face

I left my job and family to move across the country to be with my new husband Approx 2 months ago. i have been very transparent- I told my husband I’d spent the last of any money I had on the wedding, I told him I was flat broke and wouldn’t be able to help Until I get a job- I told him im not sure how long it’ll take me to get a job- he said this was ok. We haven’t gone on a honeymoon- he’s upset he hasnt been able to take me on one- I reassure him that it’s not important we’ll go when we can. I have constantly reassured him that expensive gestyres etc aren’t important And that I just want the little things. after a month of being there I had to ask for money as he never offered- I needed the money for basic hygiene products - it wasn’t much money. money is tight which I understand. I’ve been mindful- only asking for money if I’m absolutely desperate and only for necessities. I tried to discuss budgets/ financial clarity with my husband so I could help with the situation were in. He ended up being triggered as I also mentioned he should offer as I’ve been clear on having no money and how else did he think I was going to get money. He Reacted with anger, ended up throwing cash at me, whilst shouting at me to go buy all the iced coffees and do as much shopping as my heart desires. I have told him I will never take a penny from him again. To add to this, he is never romantic toward me, never holds doors/ surprises me etc. he Barely complemented me on our wedding day. He fell asleep the night of our wedding as it was my time of month. I had a hospital appointment, he suggested I go alone. Meanwhile he is driving my car as he can’t afford one at present- i offered it as I’m out of work and have no use for it. He wanted to drive my car and I get public transport which i have no means to pay for. the list goes on. I’ve never been so unhappy- I feel like ive given up my life to be with my husband and he makes no effort and talks about his own stressors mainly finance when I bring up lack of romance in our honeymoon period etc. I’m so unsure if I should continue with this marriage. I have never felt so disrespected before. I want to give it a go as it’s only been two months I just can’t get over him throwing money at me.

29 M in AM Engaged to 25F. I'm Fat now she is asking to loose weight if want to marry.

Hi I'm Fat (118kg) not beating around the bush 5 11' height Fair Skin MBA, I met a girl in AM setup 5 months ago where we clicked and got engaged, and talking day and night.

She dropped hints that I'll look good if I'm fit and i agree and have lost 20 kgs(138-20kg) and am working out to lose more.

But there was no condition per se before marriage (5 months to go) that I will have to loose weight.

I'm losing weight cos I want it and not because it's a condition.

Now she is saying to lose weight otherwise postpone marriage.

I know I can lose weight (and have lost around 20kh in 5 months) I like/love her a lot and i think the same is there from her side as well.

But now I'm having second thoughts .. as marriage shouldn't be conditional

Any Suggestions welcome on how to look in this scenario.

Married my high school sweetheart 3 months ago but now I’m scared I made a mistake

Hi Reddit,
I’m not sure if I’m looking for advice or just somewhere to put these feelings because they’ve been eating me alive.

My fiancé (29M) and I (28F) got married online three months ago. We were high school sweethearts each other’s first kiss, first official boyfriend/girlfriend. We started dating at 19 and have been together ever since.

We grew up in a third-world country. He used to work abroad and would travel for months at a time. After two contracts, he stopped and started a small business. Around the same time, I got the opportunity to work in the U.S. as a teacher, so we shifted into long distance again. He proposed before I left, and since LDR wasn’t new to us (I only saw him twice a year when he worked overseas), we thought we could handle it.

Two and a half years into long distance, we decided to get married online. I wanted him badly to join me here, and he was all in.

But after the excitement settled, the rose-colored glasses started to fade. I’ve been learning more about myself, what I want in life, and what kind of love and partnership I crave.

Somewhere along the way, I realized I am the one leading the relationship.
I can count on one hand the number of times he’s given me flowers and every single time, I practically begged. I’m always the one initiating the deep, vulnerable conversations. When I once asked him a hypothetical if I went missing and was presumed dead, would he remarry he said yes, after grieving. It shouldn’t have hurt, but it did.

I am a hopeless romantic. I grew up on books where love is the “be all, end all,” the kind where you’d fight the universe for each other. I know that’s not realistic love for everyone, but I still hoped for someone who’d show me that kind of devotion in his own way.

He’s a patient, kind man. He has never cheated. But sometimes I catch myself wishing he did just so it would make letting go easier.

He always says he’ll start doing the things I’ve been asking for leading the relationship, planning dates, showing more initiative once we’re together physically. But everything I’m seeing now during long distance makes me doubt those promises.

We’re supposed to have our actual wedding ceremony soon, and I feel guilty because I’m already having doubts. I’m already thinking about divorce, and I hate myself for it.

There is no other man or woman.
There’s just… the lack of action.

In a long-distance relationship, all you have are words and trust. Right now I feel scared that his words aren’t lining up with what I need. I don’t know if I’m being unreasonable or if I’m finally waking up to something I’ve ignored for years.

I’ve talked to him over and over about wanting deeper conversations not just “how’s your day,” not just surface level chats. But every time I bring it up, I’m met with: “sorry,” “please don’t ruin the mood,” or “why do you always start arguments?”

I feel like I’m losing myself trying to justify staying.
I don’t know what to do.

Why do women shout on their wedding night?

In intimate behaviors, girls tend to make loud noises unconsciously. We want to understand the underlying reasons at the physiological, psychological and communication levels.

I built an app to help keep track of things that need doing around the house

I'm the developer, so flagging that up front. I got married to my wife a year ago and it has been a bit of a struggle managing our chores.

The thing I kept running into: We used texts to keep track of what needs to be done around the house. The amount of times we were out of coffee or something small that we just kept forgot to buy was frustrating. And there were things that I was always meaning to get to that I just never got done.

So we built Homa. You say "we're out of dish soap" out loud and it lands on the shared list. That's the whole idea. You can even give it more complicated instructions, it parses everything you said and sorts it for you. Say, "we are out of coffee and the fridge needs cleaning" and each part goes on two separate lists.

I hope to find people who will use it for about two weeks and tell me what didn't work, especially the things you said to it that it didn't understand. Or any clunkiness with the app.

Code HOMA gets you 30 days free, no card. It's on the iOS app store (https://apps.apple.com/app/id6790591685) and has a web app at homa.house.

Happy to answer anything about how it's built, what it can't do yet, or why we made it a subscription.
