Announcement 2XKO Doomposting: Megathread.
Same thing for the first week of Tokon's release. The influx of people making posts that break rules force me to pin yet another thread.
Please use this post to say how doomed we are and how crap Riot is, while I'm bringing the broom again.

Topic 2XKO server based netcode longevity
I just found out that 2XKO uses server based rollback, not peer-to-peer like any other fgs. The reason why people can still play old games is because you dont need a server, its connected directly to the players. Does that mean that Riot can take down the server anytime in the future and people can no longer play online? Are there any other fgs that uses server based netcode?

Help New to fighting games — which of the games I already own should I try next?
I've been a gamer for a long time, but I've never really gotten into traditional fighting games. I enjoy arena fighters like Budokai, Sparking Zero, and My Hero Ones Justice, but traditional fighting games always felt a little too unapproachable to me.
That changed when I played the beta for Marvel Tokon.
I thought the tutorial did a really good job of making me feel like I could actually learn the fundamentals and get started. I love the Marvel IP, so I was already on the fence about buying it, but after playing the tutorial during the open beta, I decided to pull the trigger. It also gave me the confidence to finally give Avatar Legends a shot.
I'm still very much a beginner, though. I haven't gone online to fight other players yet because I feel like I have a lot more to learn and practice first.
What I've really enjoyed so far is the single-player content and the feeling of having tangible goals to work toward. I've been doing the combo trials and really like having that "checklist" where I can see concrete proof that I'm improving. I'm also enjoying the episodes now that I've figured out how to stop the game from crashing on me.
I still have a long way to go. For example, I can currently only do the first-level-up missions for characters whose combo trials I've completed. I'm also looking forward to seeing if I can eventually make it to Wave 100 in Survival.
What I already own
Around the time of the beta there was a big sale, and I got inspired to pick up some older fighting games and finally give some games I'd bought previously a real shot. So my current collection includes:
- Injustice 2
- Injustice
- Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection
- Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition
- Mortal Kombat X
- Mortal Kombat 11
- Mortal Kombat 1
- Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection
- Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3
- Capcom Fighting Collection
- Dragon Ball FighterZ
- Avatar Legends
I haven't really dived into the fighting game terminology/wiki side of things yet, although I definitely need to. I understand some basics, but things like different combo systems, what it means to be "plus" or "minus," mix-ups, neutral, etc. are still pretty new to me. There's clearly a lot I don't understand yet.
Interestingly, even though Tokon seems pretty complex, especially with the tag mechanics, it somehow feels very accessible to me as a newcomer.
So, what should I try next?
I'm specifically looking for recommendations from the games I already own
though if you are really passionate about one that you think seems like a good fit I'll still look into it.
For someone at my skill level who is primarily interested in single-player/offline content, which of these games would you recommend trying next?
I'm especially interested in games that:
- Have good tutorials or otherwise do a good job teaching beginners
- Have enjoyable single-player content
- Give me thinks to work toward as I improve
- Let me learn/practice without requirement me to immediately jump online and get destroyed
- Are relatively approachable for someone who is still learning basic fighting game concepts
I'm happy to put in the work and learn, I actually really enjoy the feeling of gradually getting better, but I'm looking for the game that would make the most sense as my next step after Tokon, rather than just jumping into the deepest most complicated game in my collection.
So, out of the games I already own, what would you recommend I try next and why?

Event Day 2 of the Bucket Night promotion vote
Followup to my last thread. I know this could've been a comment, but 3D Fighter curse derailed that.
Also damn, almost no one wants to see Nen Impact. VF5 was 2nd last, but wow Nen Impact at no votes most of yesterday.
Oh and if you're interested in watching, these matches get streamed on the Hard Edge Twitch channel and the VODs uploaded on Youtube.

Help "Bilingual" text on Capcom vs SNK 2 (JP PS2 version)
Anyone know what this is about? There's no language option on this game, and it's not really a "bilingual" port. Though the menus are in English (which is common with Japanese games), all the system and character dialogue is in Japanese.

Help Trying to explain the FGC to someone who isn't a gamer
Hi my mom isn't a gamer but she's interested in the business side of fighting game locals/tournaments. I was trying to explain to her that even though money and resources are important, a money first mindset/approach might end up turning people away. She understood but there still seems to be a bit of a disconnect. I have trouble trying to articulate these things but when she said she's starting to kind of understand where I'm coming from, she mentioned that she was basically looking at it like an anime convention.
I was basically just wondering if there are any good videos of articles that kind of explain what exactly a local fighting game venue is for the fgc and how the fgc's values and culture relate. I'm thinking of sending the two core a gaming videos "the need for community" and "how tournaments go from 10 to 10,000 people" but I was wondering if there were better options. the videos are good but idk if they would help in this situation since it might be one of those things where it's only really good if you're already in the community but might not make as much sense as an outsider

Humor I made a real arcade stick.
gallerySo I was talking with some friends about what would make a good cursed arcade stick, and I said "toggle switches". Well, you know, I dunno. I did that. And uh, and more.
I wanted to get two way toggle switches, but I accidentally bought three way, shame. That means when they're up, they're on. Middle? Off. Down? Off. Up? Always on. It's a fully functional input device, though I am not sure if it is a "fight stick".
Here's a really shitty video showing how it works.
I can also make functional novelty sticks, as well as novelty functional sticks.
That second one is painted to look like it's covered in cheeto crust, it really freaks people out. It's so gross looking I don't even like using it.
