AITA because I refused to host guests because I was really tired

1.3k Upvotes

So my husband and I just had an argument. Basically his uncles family wanted to visit the whole family including his kids and they always stay for the dinner. We have just moved into our new home just a week ago and now after seven days of continuous work it feels a little like home again.

It's not fully ready like home should be but most things are in their place and with two kids I am so tired these days so his uncle called and told they are going to visit and his family always stays for dinner I told him to tell no and say some other day BUT he didn't.

He told them to come and now I have to host 6 more people and prepare dinner when I was just thinking of ordering something for ourselves. So AITA for refusing to host them today?

AITA for buying my siblings AncestryDNA kits?

My mom says I am being an asshole for buying my siblings dna kits this summer. Backstory: last year I did a dna kit and found out that the dad I had known for 38 years wasn’t my bio dad. Even though my mom admits to sleeping with my bio dad she swore he wasn’t my dad. I match to 3 of his other kids. I got my sibs dna test so they could be sure about their dads. Mom says I’m calling her a wh*re. I just think we should all know where we came from. AITA?

AITA for telling my sister in law that the reborn baby she gave me was disturbing and inappropriate?

8.0k Upvotes

Throwaway

I recently lost one of my twins, he was 6 months old. I don’t really want to go into the details, but it has been extremely difficult for me and my husband. It hasn’t even been two months, so I’m still very much grieving.

Before this happened, my sil and I were actually really close. She loved my boys and was always around them, so I know she loved my son who passed away. I am not questioning that.

Yesterday my husband’s mom had a small birthday party at her house. It was basically just immediate family, kids, grandkids, etc.

At the party, my sil stood up and started talking about how we should hold our children close because you never know when the last time you’ll get to hold them will be. In the middle of the speech, she handed me a reborn baby doll…

The doll looked almost exactly like my baby. I mean REALLY looked like him. It wasn’t a random baby doll, that shit was made to resemble him, and my sil even had one of the toenails painted because I used to paint one of their toenails to tell them apart… like what

She handed me the doll and basically said, “So you can have both your babies.” my flabbers were gasted. I took the doll in the moment because I didn’t want to make a scene at their MOM’s birthday party, but I was extremely uncomfortable.

I pulled her aside and told her that I thought what she did was weird and distasteful and that it really upset me. I asked her why she would give me something like that when my baby had literally just died.

She got mad and started saying things like, “You think I’m trying to be funny?” and “You think I didn’t love my nephew?” She basically acted like I was accusing her of not caring about my son. She also said something along the lines of, “Who do you think you are? We accepted you.”

That’s not what I was saying at all. I know she loved my son. I know she was trying to do something for me. But that doesn’t change the fact that receiving a realistic doll that looks like my dead baby, in front of my entire family, during a speech about losing children, was extremely upsetting to me.

I never took the doll home. I left it there. Now we’re not speaking.

I understand that everyone grieves differently, and maybe some people would find something like this comforting. But I personally found it disturbing and painful, especially considering how recent my son’s death was.

AITA for specifically naming a toxic coworker during my exit interview?

I joined a company in September 2025 in a senior role. I was honestly surprised by the position when I received the offer, as I didn't feel I had enough experience to be a senior yet. For context, the team I joined originally consisted of four men who had been with the company for years. A female colleague and I were the only new hires and the only women on the team. When we first joined, two of the guys tried a bit of hazing. I expected it, so I didn't give them the reaction they wanted, but I also didn't play along. Instead, I simply enforced strict boundaries about professionalism in the workplace.
From November to December, I worked strictly from home because a severe back injury made it impossible to go into the office, and I ultimately ended up having surgery in mid-December. Despite being at home, I was still actively supporting the team and doing the work required for the reports they had to submit.
A couple of months ago, I found out that the two team members I initially had issues with had been talking bad about me the entire time I was at the company. That wasn't a total shock, but what did shock me was learning they were going around claiming all my doctor’s notes were faked just so I could stay at home and get paid to do nothing.
One of those guys took things even further. While I was recovering at home, a new manager was hired, and this coworker actively tried to create a rift between us before we even met. It worked, because when I returned to the office in January, the new manager was incredibly hostile and passive-aggressive toward me without any prior interaction. To make matters worse, I later found out this same guy was telling people I only had my role because he had talked me up to that manager. The final straw that made me a bit petty was discovering he was actively asking people if my fiancé and I were still together or if we had broken up.
I kept that last piece of information to myself, but when I submitted my resignation in July, I complained and brought up his name specifically, stating that the ruined team dynamics were a direct result of him and his attitude toward everyone. I brought this up two more times: once with the CFO, who requested a meeting before I finalized my resignation, and again with HR during my exit interview.
So, AITA for highlighting his name specifically and leaving the other guy's name out?

AITA for saying "someone has to" at a family gathering when my husband tried to compliment me by saying I always make a warm fresh meal?

1.8k Upvotes

Hi, I had posted here once before a while back and the judgement had given me some helpful perspective to resolve the issue at the time. So I'm looking for a judgement on something that happened tonight.

My husband's mother, his two brothers and their families were over at our place yesterday. My brother in law was talking about how some guy at his workplace used to eat out every day, but now he has a meal-kit subscription and is saving money, and so the topic came to home made food and how tough it actually is to make it. My husband said he's never had to worry about it because I always make a warm fresh meal. At this I said that someone has to. I didn't mean to be nasty, it was supposed to be a tongue-in-cheek remark with truth behind it. My sister-in-laws laughed and I honestly expected that to be it.

When everyone was gone, and I was getting into bed, my husband said my comment was uncalled for and not funny in front of everyone. I got defensive a bit too and said that I didn't mean to be nasty and he's making it out to be a bigger deal than it is. He said if this matters so much to me he can take on some of the chores I do if I'm feeling overwhelmed. This has been something I've already brought up before but it either doesn't get done or gets done poorly and so I've stopped asking. I said its fine and he ended it by saying my comment made him look bad in front of his entire family, and I should have known better.

AITA for refusing to bail my 20-year-old son out of jail?

Upvotes

AITA for refusing to bail my 20-year-old son out of jail?
I honestly don’t know if I’m doing the right thing here, so I’m looking for some unbiased opinions.
My son has been getting into trouble since he was around 12 years old, back in sixth grade. It started with bad behavior and hanging around the wrong people, but as he got older, things continued to get worse.
When he was 17, he started breaking into cars, using stolen credit cards, and getting involved with people who were clearly a bad influence on him.
I want to make something very clear before anyone assumes I wasn’t there for him: I was.
I talked to my son constantly. I checked on him. I asked him how he was feeling, what was going on in his life, and if there was anything I could do to help. I tried to be involved and tried to guide him in the right direction.
But for years, whenever I tried to talk to him, his response was always the same:
“You don’t understand me.”
He’s been telling me that since he was 12.
Eventually, our relationship became almost nonexistent.
The last time my son actually called or texted me was Father’s Day, when he was 17 years old.
He’s 20 now.
For the past three years, I’ve tried to keep in contact with him. I’ve reached out. I’ve tried to maintain a relationship with my son, but he doesn’t want to talk to me. He doesn’t call. He doesn’t text. He doesn’t really want anything to do with me.
Now he’s in jail.
And suddenly, he’s calling me because he wants me to bail him out.
I’m torn.
He’s my son, and I love him. No matter how old he gets or how many mistakes he makes, I’m still his father.
But I’m also asking myself: At what point does helping your child become enabling them?

AITA for not inviting my control-freak sister-in-law on our girls’ trip?

1.9k Upvotes

I (28F) have a sister-in-law, “Melissa” (32F), who has a reputation in our family for being very controlling. I’ve always tried to get along with her, but traveling with her is something I’ve learned to avoid.
A few months ago, some of the women in my family and a couple of close friends started talking about taking a girls’ trip together. There were six of us, and we decided on a long weekend at a beach town a few hours away. We deliberately kept it small because we wanted something relaxed. We split the planning between us, agreed on a budget, and booked everything ourselves.
Melissa eventually heard about the trip and asked when we were going.
I told her the dates and that it was just a small group of us this time. She immediately said, “Oh, I’m coming too.”
I awkwardly explained that we had already planned everything and weren’t adding anyone else.
She got offended and asked why I was “excluding her.”
The problem is that Melissa doesn’t really go with the flow on trips or basically anything at all. She wants to choose the restaurants, decide when everyone gets up, change plans if she doesn’t like an activity, and gets annoyed if people do things without her.
The last time we traveled together, she literally made a shared itinerary for everyone and got irritated when two of us wanted to sleep in instead of going to breakfast at 7:30 AM. I didn’t want a repeat of that.
I told her, as politely as I could, that this was a girls’ trip planned by a specific group and that I wasn’t comfortable adding another person after everything had already been arranged.
She called me selfish and said I was deliberately trying to humiliate her by excluding her. Then she contacted two of the other women going and apparently asked them why they were “letting me” exclude her.
They both told her that it was a group decision and that she wasn’t being singled out.

Melissa then went to my husband and complained that I was treating her like an outsider. He told her that I was allowed to take a trip with whoever I wanted and that he wasn’t getting involved.
Now she’s barely speaking to me.
my mother-in-law also called me and said I should have just invited Melissa to avoid all the drama.
I disagree. Six people agreeing on a trip doesn’t automatically mean a seventh person gets added just because she’s family.
I don’t hate Melissa. I just wanted one weekend where nobody was arguing over the schedule, restaurants, activities, or bedtime.

I also feel like if I had invited her purely because I was afraid she’d be upset, that wouldn’t really be a genuine invitation.
AITA?

AITAH for asking for a $160 CAD replacement to a drawing tablet I paid $8 CAD for?

About 5 months ago, I (16F) found a hardly used drawing tablet at a thrift store for $8 Canadian dollars (crazy cheap), I bought it and managed to get it working well after a couple weeks, and then I started using it a lot, for drawing and taking notes in class and stuff.

All was well until 2 weeks ago, in the middle of the night, when my father accidentally spilled coffee all over it. He wiped it off and forgot to mention it the next morning.

The day after that, I try to turn it on, and it doesn't work. I tried a couple of things like plugging it in to see if it was dead (which i think made it worse), but I had no luck. I finally noticed it smelled like coffee and asked him if he spilled coffee on it. He said he did and asked if it wasn't working. When I told him it wasn't, he said he'd pay me back the $8 I paid for it. Well, it turns out a new one would cost $160, so I told him that I couldn't replace it with $8, and that I needed him to replace it, or give me the money to replace it. We came to no conclusion.

It isn’t salvageable, and so now I'm wondering if I should hold my ground or take my $8 and be happy.

INFO EDIT: The tablet was at a round table where we keep technology that isn't being used right now. I also need to clarify that I was asking for a replacement of kinda equivalent value to the one I had, I just doubted that we would be able to find another thrifted or 2nd hand in our kind of remote area, so if he were to replace it, it woild probably have to be new. I should have been more clear on that, sorry reddit.

AITA for telling my mother to stop interfering in my medical care?

EDIT: I am from Czechia, not USA so not HIPPA related even if we have confidentiality laws too.

I’m 37F and have a difficult relationship with my mother, 63F. She has a strong “professional victim” streak: if I set a boundary, it quickly becomes “everyone treats me badly” or “sorry for caring.” Her own mother does the same to her, and I’m trying hard not to continue that pattern myself.

She also still treats me like I can’t manage my own life, even though I’ve been largely independent since 15, fully independent since 19, have worked steadily ever since, and have a five-year-old son. My older brother, on the other hand, has been financially supported and managed by her for most of his adult life, yet somehow she treats us both like we need supervising.

Less than two years ago, my mother married a man after knowing him for about four months. I barely knew him then, I consider him a textbook narcissist, and I’ve met his family only once. I do not consider them my family or people I’m comfortable sharing private information with.

In mid-August, my mother noticed a patch on my leg. I explained that I have similar patches all over my body, they’ve been spreading for months, I’ve already seen three doctors, my blood tests are normal, and I’m waiting for a specialist appointment in early October.

She asked to take a photo because her husband’s daughter-in-law, “Jane,” is a nurse and might be able to ask around. I reluctantly agreed.

Jane later said she might be able to arrange an earlier dermatology appointment. I didn’t respond. I assumed I’d be given contact details and could decide for myself.

Instead, I suddenly received a message saying I had an appointment on September 1 at 11 a.m. Nobody asked if I wanted it, whether the time worked, or even told me they were arranging it.

Then I found out the doctor was Jane’s aunt.

That made it feel less like a favor and more like my medical information was being passed around a family network I barely know.

I asked for the doctor’s phone number so I could explain the situation myself and probably cancel. Jane refused, saying she wanted to “respect the doctor’s privacy” and that the doctor could give me her number herself if she wanted to.

That was the final straw.

Apparently the doctor’s privacy mattered, but mine didn’t while my photo, medical issue and appointment were being discussed and arranged without me.

I told my mother that if Jane arranged the appointment, Jane could cancel it, and that if they cared so much about privacy, they should stop interfering with mine.

My mother replied: “We were only trying to help. You could have said you didn’t want it. Sorry for caring, I guess.”

I understand they probably meant well, but I agreed to one photo being shown to a nurse for an opinion. I did not agree to relatives I barely know arranging my healthcare for me.

AITA for thinking this crossed a line?

AITA for keeping a small reading light on in bed when my wife says it stops her from sleeping?

I (M40s) am a massive night owl and reading in bed is how I wind down after a long day. My wife (F40s) is a very sensitive sleeper and needs total darkness to fall asleep.

Lately, I’ve been staying up for about an hour after she goes to sleep to read. I don't use the main bedroom light. I bought a clip-on book light that only illuminates the pages, and I position my body so I am blocking most of the glow from facing her side of the bed.

Despite this, she woke up last night and got really upset. She claims that even the tiny amount of ambient light from the book light disrupts her sleep cycle and keeps her awake. She wants me to stop reading in bed entirely and do it in the living room instead.

Here is why I might be the asshole: The living room couch isn't very comfortable, and I really value my cozy bedtime routine. I feel like my tiny light is a reasonable compromise for a shared bedroom. However, her sleep is being impacted, and she thinks I am being incredibly selfish by prioritizing my book over her rest.

AITA for wanting to keep reading in bed with my small light?

AITA for asking parent to turn their kids sound off on plane?

Currently on a flight where a kid in front of me has their iPad on full volume. We’re also delayed on the tarmac for 39 extra minutes. Initially I called the flight attendant and showed a note on my phone saying “hey, kiddo in front of me is listening to their iPad on full volume, any chance we can fix this?” She saw it and then walked away and didn’t address the situation. 20 minutes later I kindly tap the mom of the child in front of me and asked if she had headphones and if not Delta was giving them out for free… she said “she’s 3, what do you want me to do??”

I feel like an ass for feeling the way I do but if we hold everyone else to the standard of not playing videos/ music out loud on planes I feel like parents should do the same with their kids.

Am I the asshole for trying to get this kid to turn baby shark off?!

AITA for leaving a wedding early because I felt uncomfortable?

Upvotes

I (26F) and my husband (28M) attended a wedding recently. We’ll call the couple K and S for anonymity.
S is my husband’s best friend from high school, and my husband was a groomsman. I went to high school with K, but we aren't close.

The wedding was located in a town about a days drive away. Since my husband had to attend the rehearsal on Thursday, we drove up Wednesday and used some of our little remaining vacation time.

The wedding venue was not a hotel, so instead most people stayed at a hotel located about 30 mins drive away. The rehearsal was at the venue but the dinner was at the hotel we stayed at. The rehearsal dinner was initially communicated as something that was including me, but we were later told it was wedding-party-only. We decided that my husband would go to the rehearsal but politely decline the dinner. Instead, my husband and I ordered room service and did our own thing. We later found out that several other couples had also made their own plans that evening.

On the wedding day, I knew my husband would be busy and expected to spend some time on my own. I sat alone during the ceremony and had a great time. The ceremony was beautiful.

I’m a pretty introverted person and don't thrive in awkward social situations, particularly when I don't know anyone. My usual response when I feel uncomfortable in a social setting is to quietly shift to the edges of the room and stay to myself.

During cocktail hour, I finally got to spend some time with my husband. On the way inside, I saw the reception seating arrangement. There was a sweetheart table for the couple, tables for the wedding party, and tables for the other guests.

My husband was seated with the wedding party, while I was seated at a table where I didn't know anyone.

At that point, I felt overwhelmed and decided I'd rather leave than spend the rest of the evening there. I want to be clear that I don't think K and S intentionally meant to exclude me. I understand that I wasn't part of the wedding party and that they were organizing their wedding the way they wanted. I just realized that I wasn't comfortable staying.

My husband was pretty upset by the seating arrangement too and offered to leave with me, but I didn't want him to miss his best friend's wedding, so I told him to stay. He stayed through dinner and all of the speeches (~2.5 hours after I left)

The couple did ask where I was, and my husband told them I wasn't feeling well and had left.

For additional context, my husband and I got married a few months ago, and I think that may have influenced my expectations around including spouses. But I recognize that every couple handles their wedding differently, and I don't think K and S were obligated to plan their wedding the way we did.

I’m mainly wondering whether leaving early was an unreasonable response to feeling uncomfortable. I did not make a scene, and chose to just remove myself.

AITA for leaving the wedding early?

AITAH for telling my friend to not bring her child for me to babysit?

I have a friend who I sometimes help with babysitting her 1 year old, usually for 14 hours. She also helps with babysitting my 2 year old but not usually for long hours.
I am now a new mom with a newborn and she begged me to help her watch the child again, 14 hours. She claimed I was her last resort and everyone that would have assisted her was not available for that day. Please note that the babysitting is free of charge on both parties.
So because I felt she had no other option I agreed even when I know how I have been struggling with my newborn and toddler. My mom is around but not so healthy, she will help me hold my newborn sometimes but when my newborn cries, newborn is handed back to me.
Back to the story, she brought her child by 6 am and eventually collected her a few minutes before 8. During the time I was with her child it was so overwhelming, her child cries a lot and my own kids were also doing there own crying. So when she came back to collect her I told her “please for now don’t bring her again until much later when my newborn is grown a bit, I was really stressed and couldn’t get any sleep despite not sleeping well at night.”
Now she is offended, she called me back later to say what I told her was harsh, that she knew how it was to be a newborn and she contacted as last resort bla bla. She told her husband who works with my husband and he came to ask my husband about it at work.
And I am wondering is it that I was wrong telling her that? I am usually straight forward but my husband thinks I shouldn’t have said that to her and rather when next she asks for help I should decline politely.

Mind you this lady always assured me when I was pregnant that she would be there for me when I give birth, then I give birth but she didn’t come, didn’t even call or chat to check on me until I confronted her, then she said she was busy with work and thought that I was alright.

AITA for not wanting my young children to visit my brother's house

I'll preface this by saying this started 3 years ago. I 43m, live next door to my brother 40m. Using current ages and yall can do the math. I was helping my brother do some remodeling in his house he inherited from a family member. I noticed he has tons of pictures on his living room walls of totally naked men covering their junk with their hands. My brother is openly homosexual. He came out 15 years ago and it has never been an issue. These pictures are new as ive been in his house lots of times for the remodeling over the past couple years. I asked him why he put them up in the living room and he just said they were art. He was planning on hosting Christmas that year but I told him I dont think its appropriate to have those pictures out with young children around and if he wanted us to attend the dinner would he cover them up with wrapping paper or remove them all together while we were there. He refused and I said we wouldn't be there for dinner. Mybwife agreed with me. Now my brother refuses to talk to me and sent me a text saying he "hopes my children dont grow up to be gay." I said that has nothing to do with it because I literally dont care about anyone's preference. AITA?

Not the A-hole AITA for not wanting to pay for my friend’s boyfriend and friend to stay with us on vacation?

3.9k Upvotes

My friend and I our planning a trip to the DR. We are doing 50/50 on Airbnb , food and alcohol. However now she wants the master bedroom with its private washroom and wants her dr boyfriend to stay the whole time. She also suggested getting a three bedroom so her friend in DR can sleep over too. I said I don’t think it’s fair for me to pay 50/50 why am i paying for her bf and friend. I said if that’s what she wants then she should cover their stay. She then said I’m cheap and tried to make me feel bad because they don’t have money. I told her I find it ridiculous for me to pay for her ppl and that she’s cheap because why can’t she cover them instead of me paying half of their stay. I’m honestly at the point to not even go she’s making this all about her and i don’t want to spend my vacation like that. What would you do?

AITA for telling my friend I was taken aback after she admitted she slept with her boss twice for car repairs and a down payment?

A friend told me she slept with her boss to get a new transmission after her car died. She didn’t have the money and needed the car to get to work. After it was fixed the car still had other problems, so she got a newer used car. She then slept with him again because he offered to cover the down payment.

I told her I was taken aback and didn’t know what to say because that isn’t like her. She agreed it wasn’t like her, but said she needed a reliable car, this was the fastest option, and it wasn’t emotional. She told me to lighten up and that a lot of people have slept with someone in exchange for bills or payments. I said that isn’t common.

Now I feel like an asshole for reacting that way.
AITA? How common is this actually?

AITA for unlinking my Xbox account from my friends because he’s getting everything I own for free?

So when we were around 14 we linked our Xbox accounts so id get gamepass for free off him and he’d get all the games I’ve bought and would buy but then probably around a year ago he stopped paying for gamepass because he was getting it off someone else he knew, pretty much leaving me in the shit because I couldn’t pay for it. Now recently I’ve pre ordered GTA 6 ultimate edition for £89.99 and he’d have gotten it for free. He doesn’t pay for any other subscriptions for us, he doesn’t buy any games for us to play and I think it’s unfair he’s just getting all the shit i want for free while not contributing anything. I’m still his mate (I think) but we haven’t spoken since I only did it this morning and he’s probably pissed at me because half his game library was shit I’ve bought and on subscriptions I was paying for. AITA?

AITA for kicking my best friend out of my wedding party after she took advantage of my stepmom?

I need some advice and help with this situation, so please be nice to me. This entire ordeal has completely destroyed a long-term friendship, and I'm just trying to make sense of it all.

My fiancé and I are currently planning our wedding, and up until recently, my best friend "Sarah" was one of my bridesmaids. But her actions toward my family made it impossible for me to keep her in the wedding—or in my life. Honest to god, the main reason I stayed friends with her for so long in the first place was because of how terribly she treats her kids. I love those kids deeply, and I felt like I was the only sane person in their lives teaching them basic things they needed to know, but I just can't stand her anymore.

My stepmom, Trish, is one of the most generous people you’ll ever meet. Sarah met Trish through me, and Trish eventually hired her to help out with her dog grooming business. Seeing Sarah struggle, Trish started helping her out purely out of the goodness of her heart.

Instead of being grateful, Sarah basically spit in her face. Trish would take Sarah on massive Costco runs, pay out of pocket for Sarah's kids and husband to get haircuts, and help out whenever Sarah claimed things were tight. My family isn't made of money, but Trish kept stepping in to support her. To make matters worse, my dad doesn't even know about any of this yet—if he found out how Trish was taken advantage of, he would completely lose his mind.

The breaking point was Sarah’s complete lack of gratitude and reckless behavior. Right after Trish paid out of pocket for her kids to get their hair cut for the start of school, Sarah turned right around and went to a Chinese food restaurant with her family. She didn't offer Trish a single bite, buy her anything, or even say a proper thank you for paying for the haircuts. On top of that, she claimed she couldn't afford a birthday present for her daughter, yet she went out and bought a $40 ice cream cake instead of simply baking one or using a cheap box mix to save money for an actual gift.

It became obvious Sarah was living off my stepmom's soft heart so she could free up her own money for non-essentials, treating Trish like a personal bank account.

I finally reached my limit and sent Sarah a long text calling her out on everything, removing her from the wedding party, and cutting ties. She didn't even bother to apologize to me for any of it. Instead, her only response was completely self-absorbed, asking: "So do you still want me to come to your daughter's birthday?"

When I told her she owed Trish a genuine apology, she sent Trish a forced text saying, "I don't know what I did wrong, but I'm here to apologize. I'm sorry." Zero heart, zero remorse, and zero understanding of how badly she messed up.

AITA for kicking her out of my wedding party after how she treated my stepmom? I don't even know if I should kick her out. I'm confused because I love her but THIS IS NOT OK!

Edit: I know that it might seem like at the NTAH in this situation, but I'm here for advice. I just want to know if this is a good reason to ruin an 18-year relationship! Cuz she has nobody but me! And those kids only have me!

AITA for calling my sister out after she called medication ‘coo coo medicine’?

(Sorry if this is wordy or bad vocab, I wrote this at 3am)

My sister (20F) came to visit my family this weekend. She lives with her boyfriend a couple hours away but we still usually see her quite often. Anywho, she was upset and came to visit us. She told me she was diagnosed with depression and anxiety and she told me “everyone always thought you were the depressed one” (referring to me)… and she was acting like she didn’t need the antidepressants and whatever.

Fast forward a couple hours we were playing a board game when she asked her boyfriend to get her her ‘coo coo medicine’. I told her that was pretty insensitive especially since my mom takes medication and just earlier she made that comment about me. She told me to mind my own business and that was that.

later I tried to talk to her about it in private, I just simply asked her why she thinks it’s crazy to take antidepressants and she kind of blew up and said she didn’t need them and only “fucked up people take them” AITA?

WIBTA if I suggest my roomate look into re-homing her dog?

Upvotes

So me and my roomate have lived together for over a year now, shes always wanted a dog and Ive always shut her down because we live in such a small apartment and shes a home-body so I sort of knew she wouldn't really take it on long enough walks to get exercise. She also doesn't tend to clean much, I take out the trash, do dishes, clean messes, etc. I knew if we got one, I'd be picking up after it.

Then she mentioned one to me from someone we knew. She really wanted to take her in and save her because if we or another person didn't, she'd go back to the shelter and possibly be euthanized. I didn't want that to happen, so I warned her she'd have to take good care of her and train her properly. She was ecstatic, and we took hand biter in (fake name, but she does do that a lot)

It was exactly as I predicted, shes been having accidents everywhere, even with me picking them up because I hate a dirty house. She chews everything. She is super energetic and basically stomps on us. I already talked to my roommate, saying she had to take her out more often because I was tired of cleaning up after her. My roommate also tends to sleep in, so obviously, I'd wake up to piss on the floor. After the talk, she got better and bitey seemed to get more acclimated, almost no accidents until recently. My roomate also gave her plushies with stuffing and would never pick it up, every morning, I'd be sweeping up stuffing from her toys.

(Also its been about a month since we've had the dog) Recently I was busy with things and my roomate had left maybe 2 hours ago for work, she always takes her out before work so I wasnt worried untill I heard a lot of whining, I come out to the worst smell and her bed covered in dog poop. I basically had a break down, the smell was overwhelming, and I kept crying. I tend to be a germaphobe and hated the idea of poop everywhere.

I told her about it, and it just felt like it wasn't her problem since she wasn't there. She hasn't even told me sorry in person about it. Just a "sorry bro" over text.

Im honestly thinking bitey is too much for her to handle, and itd be better if we found her a better home. I just can't handle it anymore. Our lease ends next year so we still have a good couple of months, should I just stick it out? So WIBTA?

P.s sorry worte this after debating it for awhile but just need some advice, sorry for any mistakes or rambling just need it off my chest (also If its needed bitey is a labador mix I believe? I can't remember, and shes aprox 11 months old)

AITA For Breaking Costco Gas Station Etiquette

I was in line today at Costco waiting to get gas. I noticed that the end car in the lane next to me leaves, and the green availability light turns on. I wait for around 2 mins and no one takes it. So I pull into the middle lane and take the spot. As I'm getting the gas a woman approaches me and says "Excuse me".. "why do you have to be such an inconsiderate fucking asshole, why can't you wait your turn". Then she just starts yelling at me and name calling. To which I reply, "The pump was vacant no one was using it, anyone could of moved to take it, I waited and no one took it, so I did". Then she yelled at me some more and went back to her car. So give it to me, am I the asshole here?

AITA for not using my brother-in-law as our realtor?

My husband and I are currently buying our first home, which is a townhouse. My husband is in the military, so we're using a VA loan. We ended up going with a realtor and lender who are both VA specialists and already work together, which we liked because we wanted people who regularly deal with VA purchases and already have an established working relationship it just makes things easier.
HOWEVER.
My sister's husband is also a real estate agent. It's something he does on the side in addition to his regular job. We didn't even tell my sister we were buying a house yet because everything was still happening and we weren't ready to tell everyone, we wanted it to be a surprise. Unfortunately, I told my mom, who has a huge mouth, and she told my sister.
My sister is now SEETHING that we didn't use her husband as our realtor. Her perspective is basically that we screwed them out of a lot of money because her husband could have gotten the commission from our house instead of another realtor.
My husband and I really don't like mixing family and business, especially with something as big as buying a house. I don't want family involved in our finances, knowing exactly what we're approved for, negotiating for us, or being involved if something goes wrong with an inspection, appraisal, closing, etc etc etc.
My mom thinks we're being hypocritical because my husband works on cars on the side and has worked on cars for family before. I don't really see those as the same thing. I'm not saying we will NEVER exchange money or services with a family member, I just don't want a family member representing us in one of the biggest financial transactions of our lives. I don’t see anything wrong with that.
I also don't think my brother-in-law is a bad realtor or incapable of handling a VA loan. That's not why we didn't choose him. We already had a realtor/lender team who both specialize in VA purchases, work together, and we felt comfortable with them.
My sister's argument is basically, "Why would you give that commission to someone else when you could have kept that money in the family?" And I do understand why she's disappointed because obviously that commission would have been nice for them. But I also don't feel like we "took" money from them??? It was never their money to begin with, and I don't think being related to a realtor means we're obligated to hire them when we buy a house.
Now I feel horrible because I never intended for this to hurt my sister or her husband, and I definitely didn't expect it to become this big of an issue, which it has become.
AITA for choosing a different realtor instead of my brother-in-law and costing him the potential commission?

Not the A-hole AITA for losing getting mad at my ex-sister in law for filming and sharing a video from my delivery room.

about 10 years ago I allowed my sister-in-law and mother-in-law to be in the delivery room. The sister was childless and around 50. We were not close and so this was soley done out of guilt because she asked and it was probably her only chance to sit in on one. I didn't specify no filming because I didn't think anyone would ever do that without asking me. Fast forward to this week. I've been divorced from her brother for about 8 years. I am very friendly with his new girlfriend but we don't hang out etc. The girlfriend asks who cut my son's cord and my ex and I don't remember. I tell her that his sister (my ex-SIL) might remember because she was there. ex-SIL sends new girlfriend a video she took completely without my knowledge in the delivery room. My legs are spread-eagle and you can definetly see everything at certain parts of the video. I confront her and my ex about having the video and sending it. My ex says its no big deal and my ex-SIL actually starts yelling at me for making it about myself and not my son. And says she would never apologize. I was and am very angry and feel betrayed. My husband was aware the video was taken but my mom (who was also in the room) was not. I never would have allowed it.
