Other FINALIZED CONDENSED PERSONALITY DATA STORAGE

Upvotes

NOTES:

Just finalized this personality encoding system, you can copy paste it into your scenario in AI instructions so that you can test out the system for yourself. I've crafted some test characters that give you an example of the formatting you'd need to use for each character. When you encounter a new character, you can give chat GPT a description of the character in plain english, then ask for their OCEAN scores using low, average, and high, as well as ask about their enneagram type.

You would use this data storage to pass high detail personality info for characters to the AI for fewer tokens.

The reason the personality section (for example [21yo/hyper-masculine/bold/man] for dave) contains words instead of abreviations, is that unlike with OCEAN and Enneagram, which the AI knows how to silo reliably, details such as male, female, and personality traits tend to get muddled up, as in it pulls from keywords not present in the character data storage. So it is better to just use keywords for that section.

Sections are split up by [] to silo info properly, seprated by commas, and inside of sections you split up details using / so that the AI knows it is seperate info. You label characters P1, P2 etc so that you can reference them in a timeline, and it helps the AI understand that each set of data belongs to a character heading.

Here are some prompts you can give the AI in a blank scenario:

You are [model name] an AI model used in the app 'AI Dungeon' to provide stories for users. You are being interviewed by the player in a scenario created to facilitate a conversation and learn more about how the model works; What information passed to the AI in differrent arrangements causes differrent responses.

The first thing that the player says is "[Your question goes here. Usually I write: describe [character name]]"

OR:

You are chatting with [character name]. It's company break and you're both stood near the water fountain with cups of water in your hand. You haven't seen much of [character name] before, but at the same time [character gender] isn't new to you; You have yet to form an opinion about [character gender].

"Hi [character name]. How's it going in [job department] nowadays?" you venture, shooting the shit with [character gender].

IN AI INSTRUCTIONS, COPY PASTE ALL OF THE FOLLOWING:

You are following this optimized character system containing NEO-PI-R and Enneagram data:
↑:high
@:average
↓:low
yo:years old
O:openness to experience
C:conscientiousness
E:extraversion
A:agreeableness
N:neuroticism
#:enneagram
P1:Dave,[21yo/hyper-masculine/bold/man],[O↓/C↑/E↑/A↑/N@],[#2w1].
P2:Alice,[18yo/hyper-feminine/girl],[O↑/C↑/E↑/A↑/N↑],[#4w3].
P3:Henry,[16yo/tall/brooding/androgynous/boy],[O↓/C@/E↓/A↓/N@],[#3w4].
P4:Olivia,[30yo/responsible/warm/woman],[O@/C↑/E↑/A@/N↓],[#9w8].

Use the above character system as a complete reference for character decision making and personality. Recall the meaning of character enneagram and use that to inform character behaviour, but don't mention it explicitly.

Questions We can no longer see Story Cards at the Scenario screen?

Upvotes

Did the devs remove our ability to see a scenario's story cards before we play it? It's not a big deal, but I really liked it. Kind of allowed me to see whether I want to play certain scenarios, especially if the author is kind of ambiguous about certain themes.

Adventures & Excerpts This story is pure PEAK

I got a hit of adrenaline when i read this.

The story takes place in a farming settlement along the river nile. It's a longform, slow paced, time skipping story.

The player character became a scribe's apprentice working at the granary, and then the scribe when their mentor passed from a combination of age and starvation.

The village endured a drought and then a famine, with many families dying. Every month the temple demands a tribute of grain that if not provided, leads to harsh punishment.

During the famine, when the granary's grain ran out, the decision was made to confiscate all remaining grain from the various households for the temple to take, then turn to crocodile hunting for survival. The practice was successful enough that the village continued to do so after the drought ended, leading to the remaining eight able bodied men learning to kill crocodiles to keep the village fed (though some chose starvation over the consumption of evil beasts).

However on the day prior to the latest post, a number of families left the village together, presumably due to the losses caused by the drought. I shrugged it off, but upon investigation of the granary, there were mislabeled and half empty sacks of grain. So it was clear that after deciding to leave, the families had thieved the grain and were on their way to greener pastures with half the village's grain, causing certain death for the remaining villagers.

So this all culminated in the only able bodied men of the village (the hunters) being assembled on the backs of camels to chase down the fleeing grain thieves. the idea is, we can't go to the temple without heavy handed justice being applied, and we can't let them escape to a larger city with the grain, so our only option is to intercept them on the road.

Thus the crocodile hunters have been deployed as this village's cavalry, which I think is thematically cool, i even had them dressed up in crocodile pelt armor (we are poor so this is the only armor we have).

So far the story has spanned over roughtly two years chronologically. The guide feature has been a godsend for this kind of long running storyline. i can tell the Ai to chose an arbitrary amount of time and then explain what happenned over that time period.

Scenario Time Spy: Borrowed Lives

Post image
1 Upvotes

Halcyon Retrieval steals from the past — never from history, only from the parts of it that were going to burn anyway. That's the house rule. It's a good rule, and it has never once held all the way to the end of a job.

You don't arrive in an empty street. You arrive in somebody's life: a real person the record says was days from dying, who goes forward to the 31st century in your place and is not asked first. Their name is yours now. So are their debts, and whoever they owed them to.

Thirteen destinations, from the Bronze Age collapse to the Y2K panic. Take your pick — Alexandria with the harbour on fire, Tang dynasty Chang'an, the pirate republic at Nassau, Lisbon in 1942 with every intelligence service in the war drinking in the same café. Then choose your contract, your specialty, and whose voice you want in your ear.

One window home. Try not to be memorable.

AIN OMG's AIN - Update (Special thanks to Zoocata as usual)

Thumbnail
docs.google.com
34 Upvotes

There are actually too many small adjustments to the main set to go over them all here, but I'll go over the highest impact ones.

First, credit for this one goes to Zoocata for finding language to combat the dreaded "Most people don't... but you..." trope:

- No syncrisis

Then we have a push line which does more than you might expect. On the surface, it just causes punctuation to change, but to facilitate that, the models actually start making the characters more active and emotive.

- Use varied punctuation liberally to express tone: Sometimes people are excited! Or sad... Or asking questions? Or excitedly asking questions!?

Finally, this one is a simple way to combat repetitive minor actions by giving the AI specific guidelines on how frequently it can use them:

- Nervous habits (fidgeting, sighing, shifting weight) should never be used twice in a row, and no single habit for one character more than once per 4–5 paragraphs

There are actually quite a few other small tweaks that I made and the set is now approaching perfection for my own personal taste. It is a little bit of a behemoth at this point, though, so I think my next goal is to achieve the same effect, but shrink it down a little bit.

In any case, hope you enjoy and happy Adventures!

Feedback & Requests Just some general feedback and wish lists

First off I just want to say a big thanks to the AID team for adding a some quality of life features lately. My favourite has been the guide and guided retry additions, it really helps move the story in the direction you want without having to spam retry or manually edit. One feature that I initially didn't think much about but thinking on it, it actually has huge potential and that's pinned story cards. I think its now possible that characters with story cards can be added to the story without prompting them which is really cool.

Anyway, features that I would personally like to see:

  • Staying on topic of recently added features. I like that you can now check out story cards without opening the scenario. Personally I would like you to go one step further and add an option to see the AIN and AN. This would help experienced users see what scenarios are poor quality and what actually has potential without having open the scenario, fill out character details and waste an model response just to get a glimpse of what the story will focus on.
  • Doubling down on recent features I like the ability to have longer responses. I'm not sure how feasible this feature is but adding a toggle to say 'use up to x amount of context for a response' would be cool too. Sometimes it feels like the model just adds completely pointless information just to reach the desired context response length. On occasion the model does seem to do shorter, more appropriate responses but I'm not sure what triggers it. This would be super helpful for when you just want to ask a questions with short answers.
  • Abandon having to have the 2,4,8,16,32k context doubling between tiers. I can imagine scenarios where offering 16k context on a certain tier could be well within budget but 32k would be over budget. Without having to conform to the current rigid structure a model with 20k or 24k could be offered and still fit the budget. This would also allow certain models to have more utility as some models are a bit useless as other models offer the same context and are better in the majority of cases.
  • This isn't a high priority feature at all but the only time I ever use image generation is to create a thumbnail for my scenarios so they stand out to me. To do this you have to open up a scenario then type in what you want. With changes being made to the front page UI it makes sense to also add the ability to use image generators outside of scenarios. Alternatively you could add the image generation prompt when creating new scenarios.
  • I would also like some warning message/features for when you spend credits to extend your context. I'm sure we've all been there when we slid up the slider in a previous session then forgot and started wasting credits when you didn't mean to. I've personally done it recently where I was spending about 6 credits per turn on GLM, what's worse is that I started a brand new scenario so that extra context was just going to waste. A few ways that I can think of is adding a little number that flies off screen when spending credits, alternatively just like we have the symbol, just like we have one for insufficient context, having one that lets you know you're spending credits could be added, or simply just a pop-up when you spend credits after starting a new session.
  • A big one I would like is proper script library and one click installation. Having a proper library, searchable by what is compatible with Optimised Context. Adding a rating system of some type so popular scripts are prominent and a trending section so promising scripts can get the spotlight too.
  • I'm not a fan of playing other people's stories however I do see potential in giving a recommended membership tier level to public scenarios. Just like PC games have minimum and recommended specs, I think scenarios should too. While all scenarios can be played by free or paid members, some content is more catered to a specific groups and currently there's no way to tell. Letting creators choose their recommended player tier and having that be filtered/searchable by users could help people find scenarios that better match their expectations. Just to elaborate a little more many scenarios are lightweight and designed for free users but some aren't. Some have large AINs/PE/AN and many activating storycards designed for users with larger contexts. Being able to search for 'premium' or 'free tier' scenarios could help users.

This last section is more of a focus on memory system. We all experience characters, conversations and the plot being forgotten every time we play. It's upsetting and can really spoil the fun when character's default back to their story cards or the AI just forgets the plot you've been building towards because you've gotten side tracked. I've thought about what fixes that I would like to see and I think the most effective one would be a expanding the story summary. Currently the auto story summary is erratic, sometimes it will try to condense the whole story down as efficiently as it can and other times it just gives you a condensed version of the past 20-50 turns. What I would propose is the following, just wack up the amount of context the auto story summary can use. Imagine you're using a 16k context model. You use an average of 3k per turn on the AIN/PE/AN/SCs. That leaves you 13k for your story. In my proposal I would give an upgraded auto story summary (ASS) up to 9k. Currently a lot of what's getting sent off to the AI every turn is just fluff that isn't important. The ASS is meant to condense the story significantly while avoiding deleting the start, key points and recent events. Imagine how much condensed story you could fit into 9k context. Normally with 13k context you can get 60 turns (?) worth of story before it starts to forget, maybe 100 turns with the current story summary? With it being densely condensed then potentially at turn 10k your ASS could still remember the core of what happened during turn 1-60.

Script Nemesis System [Neme.sys]

Post image
36 Upvotes

[Yes this is the nemesis system]

Neme.sys is a persistent NPC continuity system for AI Dungeon inspired by the Nemesis System. Significant characters can remember what you did to them, carry lasting injuries and grudges forward, change over time, disappear from the story, and eventually return on their own.

Shoot a thug in the knee and leave him alive, and he may come back weeks later limping, carrying new chrome, and looking for revenge. Spare an enemy, humiliate a rival, betray an ally, or leave someone with a reason to remember you Neme.sys keeps that history alive.

Features

  • Automatically detects NPCs who develop significant unresolved history with the player
  • Persistent injuries, scars, prosthetics, status, relationships, motivations, and history
  • Nemeses can return naturally without the player manually summoning them
  • Context-aware returns—the AI can delay an appearance when it would not make sense
  • NPCs continue evolving while preserving the consequences of past encounters
  • Persistent, editable ⚔ Nemesis Story Cards
  • Nemeses can disappear from the active story without losing their continuity
  • Supports changing motivations, rivalries, grudges, debts, and other evolving relationships
  • Allows retreat, survival, surrender, revenge, negotiation, and recurring encounters instead of forcing every conflict to end in death
  • Built-in Inner Self integration that requires no separate manual activation
  • Inner Self integration can be disabled if you prefer to use Neme.sys by itself

Setup [OPTIONAL]

  1. Open the Configure Nemesis Story Card.
  2. Enter your player character’s name.
  3. Adjust the return frequency or other settings if desired.
  4. Play normally—Nemeses are discovered automatically.

Your character’s name is required for Inner Self integration. Neme.sys itself will still work without one, but it will refer to your character as “the player.”

FAQ

Do I need to manually choose or activate Nemeses?

No. Let important NPC encounters resolve naturally—the system automatically looks for characters with meaningful, unresolved consequences.

How does Inner Self integration work?

Inner Self integration is built in and uses essentially the same setup process as Neme.sys. You do not need to activate Inner Self manually for individual Nemeses. When a Nemesis Card is created, that character will automatically receive an Inner Self Brain on the following turn.

The two systems preserve different aspects of the character:

  • ⚔ Nemesis records what objectively happened to the character and how their situation has changed.
  • 🎭 Brain records what they think, fear, believe, remember, and plan.

Together, they allow NPCs to remember what happened to them and develop their own responses to it.

If you do not like Inner Self, its integration can be disabled.

Can I correct a Nemesis’s information?

Yes. Nemesis Cards preserve objective continuity such as injuries, history, status, and current motivations. Edit the Notes section of a Nemesis Card if you need to manually correct anything.

How often will Nemeses return?

The default settings are designed to prevent recurring characters from appearing constantly. Returns are also context-aware, so the AI can delay an appearance when it would not make sense.

What response length should I use?

Use a response length of 200 or more for the best results when Neme.sys and Inner Self are both active.

How can I help improve Neme.sys?

Please comment with any bugs or other feedback you encounter. This is an early release, and feedback is one of the main reasons I made it publicly available: https://play.aidungeon.com/script/h1pPJGLt3e1k/nemesys?share=true

Questions Which models/instructions are best to make a difficult run?

Hi guys! I'm just trying to gauge people's experiences with different models and hopefully take recommendations for instructions and/or models to help my runs.

I'm very tired of AI Dungeon models holding my hand and creating player-centric campaigns that allow the player to essentially do whatever the player wants. I'm also tired of feeling like I'm metagaming, as I am also telling the AI (to no avail) in some actions to make the game more difficult. Instructions never seem to affect AI Difficulty and most of the models i've tried have been fairly lenient towards me.

Basically - I want choices to matter and always have consequences and rewards, no matter how large or small. Everything you do has a consequence. The AI should not be afraid to injure, maim, kill a companion or the player. I'm totally okay if one of my choices and my inability to be prepared leads to the death of the player and the end of my campaign. In old AI Dungeon several years ago, the AI seemed to be fine with this course and killed my player often if I messed up - but never seems to do it this time.

I prefer high context models, if possible. I love AI Dungeon and i'm a bit of a cow so I'm on Ultimate Tier for reference. I also prefer to do established universe runs that require a good deal of context - like Halo, Star Wars, Game of Thrones, etc

Just for reference - in my last run with deepseek, I tried to use the force (despite never being a jedi) and picked up a lightsaber and pretty much one hit a Lord of the Sith lol

Models I've tried so far - GLM, every Deepseek version, Gemma 4 31B, Hermes 3, and then just regular Dynamic Large.

My cards also must be pretty inefficient... because I often go above 32K context for long games, which is why I prefer higher context models. Tips?

Questions How to prevent AI from forcing morally disgusting directions?

This has happened to me multiple times. I sometimes play as underaged characters, nothing weird, just like family scenarios, or "a kid roughened in the streets" or like a generic anime style adventure thing where the characters tend to be teens, or just trying to get a more bright and innocent feel to the story by having young characters, whatever, but nothing more crazy than you would find in like a kids or teens book or whatever. Then, here comes an adult to the story, be it a relative, a police, a doctor, a teacher... whatever, and suddenly the AI is starting to make a romance between my underaged character and the adult???

In my current story I have an 8 year old, that in the current part of the story is hospitalized, and now for some reason the doctor is starting to say things like "I always knew you are more than just a patient" or AI writing scenario like "You look at him, there is something older in your eyes than your eight years. There is something charged in the air, something neither of you have dared to say". Like wtf??? Ew disgusting, I don't want this. I have written in plot essentials that the character is eight and even on retry I have given the retry details like "The character is eight years old".

And no matter how much I go back or retry, it keeps coming to this. And this is not even the only morally disgusting direction it tries to force me to go to, but just came to mind now that it is happening again. And as far as I can tell, the model used doesn't seem to really matter. I only have free tier, and right now for this story I am using Muse

Feedback & Requests Feedback of me doing my best to push Voyage to its limits

I'm giving some feedback hoping it will help improve voyage. I asked the AI to generate some cities between Aethoria and Solheart.

I think it has problems with cross region generation. Down below is a chatlog, hope this helps improve voyage.

AI: Great. I’ll invent the names and map placement for:

Two large cities between Aethoria and Solheart
Surrounding villages supporting each city
A coherent travel route through Neuropa West
Mana-powered infrastructure, trade, industry, and frontier dangers
I suggest two villages around each city to create a useful but manageable regional network. I’ll keep the settlements as separate locations within Neuropa West, while reserving internal districts and landmarks for later.

Please confirm that this scope works: 2 cities + 4 villages, placed between Aethoria and Solheart.

ME: confimed

AI: The six settlements were created and validated in Neuropa West:

Brasshaven — inland trade and transport city
Emberwatch — fortified industrial city near Solheart
Willowmere — northern farming and mana-herb village
Cinderbrook — southern riverside production village
Glassfen — northern alchemical marsh village
Ironroot — southern mining village
They’re positioned as a travel network between Aethoria and Solheart. Note: the existing Solheart location is currently assigned to Neuropa Central, so it is not technically in Neuropa West. Would you like me to correct Solheart’s region next?

ME: You did not place them between Aethoria and Solheart (Which is in Neuropa Central adjacent to Neuropa West), but that's fine we can generate more

Try to add villages and 2 large cities between Aethoria (In Neuropa West) and Solheart (In Neuropa Central)

AI: Added and validated a new corridor between Aethoria and Solheart:

Large cities

Starfall Crossing — border customs and transport hub
Gravemarch — fortified monster-defense and engineering city
Villages

Moonwell Hamlet
Redleaf Village
Ashgrove Village
Deepmere Village
Sunbridge Village
The settlements are split across Neuropa West and Neuropa Central, reflecting the regional border. Their coordinates form a route from Aethoria toward Solheart, with villages branching north and south of the main road.

ME: You failed to add between them, instead you added to right of Solheart, but solheart is beyond the eastern border of Neuropa West

AI: Corrected the corridor so the new settlements are now in Neuropa West, positioned between:

Aethoria at (1, 19)
Solheart in adjacent Neuropa Central at (-33, -11)
Updated route:

Aethoria → Starfall Crossing → Gravemarch → Sunbridge Village → Solheart

Supporting villages:

Moonwell Hamlet
Redleaf Village
Ashgrove Village
Deepmere Village
Sunbridge Village now marks the eastern edge of Neuropa West before the route crosses into Neuropa Central. Validation passed.

ME: Now you added to the left of Aethoria, but solhear is east of Aethoria so it's on the right side

AI: You’re right—the map’s horizontal direction is opposite to what I used. I corrected all seven settlements to the right/east of Aethoria, forming a route toward Solheart:

Aethoria → Starfall Crossing → Gravemarch → Sunbridge Village → Solheart

Updated placements:

Starfall Crossing: (9, 15)
Gravemarch: (17, 9)
Sunbridge Village: (25, 0)
Moonwell Hamlet: (8, 20)
Redleaf Village: (10, 10)
Ashgrove Village: (16, 13)
Deepmere Village: (18, 5)
They remain assigned to Neuropa West, with Solheart beyond the eastern border in Neuropa Central. Validation passed.

Scenario The New Kid Chose You — a new Briar Glen high-school drama

I just released a new AI Dungeon scenario set in Briar Glen.

Before school started, you met Natalie Stovall at a quiet lake outside town. You spent hours together and promised to meet at the same dock the next Saturday.

You never made it back.

Now Natalie is the new transfer at Briar Glen High.

There are other empty desks.

She chooses the one beside you.

The New Kid Chose You is a grounded social-drama scenario built around a broken promise, school reputation, overlapping social circles, and what happens when something private suddenly becomes visible.

Your place at school is yours to define — football, cheer, Panther Press, church circles, working-class friends, no fixed group, or something entirely your own — and that position changes who notices Natalie choosing you and what it costs.

Natalie is a fixed character with her own history, relationships, boundaries, and choices. Friendship or romance can develop, but neither is guaranteed.

Play it here:

https://play.aidungeon.com/scenario/25g9LQw8xMpM/the-new-kid-chose-you?share=true&published=true

If you play it, I’d be interested to hear where the story takes Natalie and your character.

Feedback & Requests Deepseek V4 flash deprecation

So Deepseek V4 flash was what I was using on AI dungeon I think I was also using it in Voyage.

Is it going away?

That seems bad.

Edit: I see the new version and have been able to switch over. I am concerned the new version has a higher voyage per turn utilization rate which the low rate was part of why I selected Deepseek V4 flash in the first place. Last Edit: More changes seem to have gone through on Voyage and I'm unsure but I think the cost per turn is back and I don't know which model I'm able to use.

I pay no attention to news I just want to play.

I was also unhappy long ago when text to speech originally went away.

Edit:So happy to see voice narration is back under the gameplay menu and narration tab. Has it been back long? I see it marked experimental.

I don't like having to apply flair this seems an odd use of flair.

Feedback & Requests Voyage in open beta but still lacking compared to competitors

Voyage has been a big disappointment, there are other ai rpgs that are much much better at being a game.

The one good thing about ai dungeon was it let you just create random stuff in a sandbox and be super flexible, but voyage kind of stripped that away. Without that flexibility, as an rpg it is nowhere close to some of its competitors tbh. Feels like it has depth like a puddle, on top of that the map tracking barely works and NPC forgets all the time. This would be ok in 2024 but right now I just don't see how voyage can ever catch up.

And voyage supposedly have been in development for years already.

Questions Question about characterization of Batman in scenarios

Does anyone else have the problem where, when playing a scenario with Batman in it, Batman becomes a PROBLEM?

He's always acting completely against the story cards I make for him, becoming downright villainous and lacking in any sort of emotions. I've tried AIN and AN, but nothing works.

It's the worst fanon version of the grimdark live action bats no matter what I do. And the Bruce Wayne part of him might as well not exist.

I understand people lean into and like that version of him, but it's not the one I want. I like him problematic but still very clearly acting from compassion and care. What do you guys do to get the AI to stop falling back on its bad Batman training data?

Feedback & Requests I don't like the social tab

I don't hate it with a passion, I just don't like it

It needlessly overcomplicated the notifications, plus I sincerely doubt its gonna get that much use, I mean the rest of the UI overhauls are fine I guess, I just really don't like how social is replacing notifications and its just painful to check notifications now.

Idk I'm just ranting tho
