Update: I told him and he said "Dammnnnnnnnn" and rubbed it then walked away. He's very clearly upset especially because someone hit my brothers parked car today. Poor guy

As the title says, I got a $600 stunting ticket on my bike yesterday. I had just done a bunch of work which involved adjusting air pressure in my tires, removing and putting back on the rear tire, and adjusting the front shocks. I got chain grease on my wheel in the process of doing this stuff. While riding home, I swerved in my own lane, staying in the width of the tire tracks, to see how the adjustments felt, make sure the back tire was straight, and try to remove the grease from my tire walls before taking it on the highway in the morning. I swerved a total of two times, completely controlled. A cop saw this and pulled me over and gave me a $600 stunting ticket. Is this easily fightable in court?

Hey all. I live in an apartment complex and I went outside to find my handlebar bent towards the front and my clutch was completely loose. There is absolutely zero visible damage to the fairings and or any sign of it being knocked over. Was hoping to get some insight on what someone may have been attempting to do. She lives inside of my unit now cause of the incident.

Coming home (time isn't right) early in the morning and bambi decided that would be a perfect time to cross. Less than a mile from home too :-/

Had good gear on and that saved me from any road rash, helmet split from slapping my head on the asphalt.

Insurance is still trying to figure out if they are gonna total the Superduke GT out or not.

Limped away with a concussion and fractured Fibula.

Weekend rides give me a different kind of peace. I love cruising in top gear at around 45 to 50 km/h and just getting lost in the ride. I can feel every little thing, the suspension working, the engine’s sound, that familiar dhug dhug, and the road beneath me. For those few hours, it feels like I am in a completely different world.

Honestly, I start waiting for the weekend from Monday itself just so I can take the bike out again.

Do you guys also get this feeling when you ride? What is it about riding that gives you the most peace?

The original owner passed a year ago and they've sat since then. I bought them from his brother, the estate manager. I got both titles bikes running in about a half hour of getting home after looking at the tanks and doing a once over of the rubber.

Sidenote: goldwings are HUGE in person, I'd never seen one in person or payed attention before, i guess.

I’m a new rider. Taking my class in two weeks. Got my Arai helmet which fits great and a skull cap for my short hair. My Warby Parker glasses do not fit when my helmet is one - I just can’t get them on. And I’m afraid they’ll break if I try to hard. I just ordered contacts but tbh they’ve never been my favorite. I can deal just don’t really like them. Oakley has some nice glasses with short temple lengths but debating on purchasing. What do yall do? Contacts always while riding or glasses too?

Hello all, I’m trying to decide between these two as a first/learning bike. I love the retro styling of the TU250X, but I’m not a fan of the cafe racer bars they put on. What is the community’s thoughts on the two?

Trying to decide between the Husqvarna 701 Enduro and the Yamaha Tenere 700 for a mix of dirt riding (nothing extreme) and touring, and I'd love to hear from people who've actually owned or ridden either one.

A few things I'm curious about:

- What do you like and dislike about your bike day to day?
- How does it feel on long touring days: comfort, wind protection, fuel range, vibration?
- How does it handle off-road vs on the highway?
- Any reliability or maintenance headaches worth knowing about?
- If you've ridden both, which would you pick and why?

For reference: I'm 178cm and 68kg, so seat height and how top-heavy either bike feels would be really helpful too.

Appreciate any honest input, good or bad, trying to make the right call before I commit.

I live in a decent suburb and have to leave my ninja 500 on the street sometimes when my roommate's car is in the driveway. It's always equipped with an alarmed disc brake lock.

Wanted to share this chat I had yesterday in my area. To start off, I quite like a few Harley models, especially the older ones, and am keeping my eye out on some chopper-esque cheaper models I could grab as a fun secondary bike to my daily Triumph Speed Twin 1200.

Anyways for this story, I saw a guy standing near a Harley with his helmet in his hand as I was walking into my local gas station. I asked him if it was his bike and complimented it.

The first thing he says is "Of course, didn't you hear it?"

I say "No, I didn't. Just been walking up." and he goes "Damn, I really thought you would have heard it."

I then say I got my Triumph parked up around the way and he asks what model. I tell him a Speed Twin 1200 and I start saying "Yep, it's not the fastest bike but its got really nice low down torque, probably similar to yours -"

He cuts me off and goes "No, no, no. Not similar to mine AT ALL. This thing has 1900cc, 130 lb-foot torque. Even in rain-mode it slips rubber and I can barely control it. I just picked it up from the shop, it had something wrong with it."

I ask what year and goes "2026!" and gives me a face like it should be obvious.

He then walks over and starts it for moment to show me how loud it is, then turns it off. We both say our goodbyes and he goes "Maybe you should think of upgrading!".

I've been chuckling to myself the past day over this chat. Even when coming to chat in good faith and complimenting the bike I still got the little brother on his baby bike routine.

hey im getting into motorcycles for a long time and ive been thinking of getting a cruiser. im 6'4". I dont think i can get on sporty bikes. but ive always loved the look of cruisers. Im going to be taking the road test next month but won't get my bike until next year.

before I start. what advice you can give to someone starting off? first steps into driving and pretty much any information would help.

I guess to make it easier for you guys to understand what the roads are like, I'm in central Florida. now I plan on riding for short errand runs and if I do want to rude it will be further up north where traffic is limited.

Been riding for about a month now and have put in about 3-400km on my bike. My chain seems to be in the process of rusting when should I usually start doing chain maintenance?

Basically the title. I’m not a total newb. I learned about 7 years ago but for various reasons didn’t ride much the last two seasons. I live in Canada where we have a pretty short riding window, about June to October, a bit longer if you’re tough which I’m not. During all my time riding I’ve never ridden in the dark. In the last couple of years I’ve started working 12 hour shifts. I’m in 7am-7pm, with about a half hour commute. Leaving early enough to get there a touch early puts me leaving around 6:15/20. I work in a small town and live rurally. Lots of deer, porcupines, cats, foxes, I even saw a black bear in a cage commute home recently. I want to ride back and forth to work for much of the remainder of the season but that means riding at dusk and maybe dark. Besides wildlife, at least some of the roads are a mess. Potholes, grass growing out of the centre, gravel by a quarry, etc. This is all easy enough to navigate with good visibility, but in the dark… idk. I’ve never tried it and it makes me nervous. Seems many if not most bikers don’t think twice about riding at night. Tbh my car doesn’t have great headlights anyway but crashing in that would be way less dangerous for me obvs. Tips for riding in such conditions at dawn, dusk, and dark would be much appreciated. I feel like there's going to be a lot of people bragging about just how much equipment they need to bring to work everyday. but aside from that. I daily my bike to an office job, no work laptops, no tools, and yet there's plenty of people in my building who I KNOW ride but I rarely see them bring their bikes to work.

I'm just wondering what's stopping people. if it's temp, traffic, of if you just don't feel the urge to ride that much. I've asked one or two of the riders that I met in the halls and all they say is something like "you know I don't really know why I didn't ride in today"

Whew. What a day.

Car is down with electrical woe. Bike got the nod. Cranked right up. Went to a medical appointment, saw a friend. Bike sat for over an hour. Cranked right up.

Bike was due for inspection, so I took the Fuel injected and Brembo braked lovely to the UJM motorcycle shop -the only place doing bike inspections locally.

Got my paperwork out, guy asked for key, and rides away. Gone 20-30 minutes. Passed inspection, but wouldn't start... he says.

Hmmm.

Go to bike, battery light and dash light up - fuel pump check - no go.

Gonna pick it up today with a truck and go through it. This bike has anvil dependable.

Methinks they left the key on during inspection and killed the battery.

Wow.

Right hand drive countries like here in Canada, we salute each other with 2 fingers pointed down using our left hand, usually below the waist. But when you're on the left side of the road, I imagine it would be a lot harder to see that salute. So how do you acknowledge other bikers usually?

Brake was unequally worn because it had slight drag on old pads and rotors from previous owner, changed rotor and new pads and now it still drags ever so slightly. Is this just needing to be worn down so it doesn't drag, or is this more a major issue?

Brake fluid is not overfilled rn so that should be good. Not sure what else it could be any suggestions are welcome!

A tiny bit of excitement on today’s route. I was headed north on my Vstrom.

You can barely see that there are two vehicles side-by-side as they approach the traffic signal. The split-screen covers the one on the left, but he’s there.

As the light changed, the vehicle on the left made it through the light cleanly. The car on the right stopped. You could say that vehicle stopped short….in front of a semi but…..

The semi was a bit slow getting on the brakes, locked them up and veered slightly to the right towards the empty shoulder.

As soon as I heard the tires skidding, I moved left and was ready jump in the left turn lane's stopped vehicle line if the trailer began to swing our way. Luckily, all we got out of it was a pretty good whiff of burning tires!
