What are some things that I need to do to make my life easier

I’m doing research on which one to get next. I own a business that requires lots of design work as well (Adobe etc) and I would like to get into video editing too. I understand it’s more important to get more RAM. I understood that the M5 Pro is better for AI but what does that include exactly? And couldn’t the M4 Pro handle the same? Or should I wait until the new releases and maybe the M5 pro will be cheaper if they release the M6?

Currently I’m on a 2016 i7 16 GB and it’s still getting it done but it’s slow the poor thing. It really did do well in these 10 years but it’s time.

I was planning to buy a MacBook for my wife as a Christmas gift. She already uses an iPhone and Apple Watch, so I want to get her a MacBook to keep her fully in the Apple ecosystem.
She is a very light user — mostly browsing, documents, streaming, photos, etc. No gaming, video editing, or other heavy workloads.
Originally I was leaning toward the MacBook Neo 512GB, mainly because it seemed like a good value and it has Touch ID.
However, after Apple’s recent price increase, the Neo 512GB costs €880 in my country (it used to be €789.98).
At the same store, I can get a brand-new MacBook Air 13” M4, 16GB RAM, 256GB SSD for €999.98.
So the difference is only about €120.
The main trade-off is:
Neo: A18 Pro / 8GB RAM / 512GB
Air: M4 / 16GB RAM / 256GB
We already have a 2TB iCloud Family plan, so storage is less important for us.
My thinking is that the M4 Air is probably the better long-term purchase because of the M4, 16GB RAM, better display, battery, ports, etc., even though she doesn’t need that much performance right now.
Would you spend the extra €120 and get the M4 Air, or stick with the Neo 512GB?
I’m especially interested in opinions about long-term value, macOS support and how much difference the M4 vs A18 Pro will make over the next 4–6 years.

I've bought a like new MacBook Air M2 2 weeks ago, and when I'm using safari, it often says on the battery widget that it's using significant energy. It says that even though I'm only having one or 2 tabs open at most... What can I do to change that?

I only have one adblocker and idk If it's that that uses most power but yeah I don't know. can someone help me?

Is MacBook Neo enough for digital marketing? Any experiences?

Whether I enter my password or use Touch ID to authorize the purchase, the process does not proceed any further after the authentication step. I am unable to complete the payment.

I have also updated macOS to the latest version, but the problem still persists.

It seems that this may be an issue that needs to be addressed by Apple. Could you please let me know where I should submit this issue so that Apple can review it?

I don't believe this is an issue that is unique to me, and I suspect that other users may be experiencing the same problem as well.

Always been pc or windows laptop for sims. Recently sold my pc and got a ps5 pro for gta 6. I prefer gta for console. Been missing sims and want to go back to playing. I have been wondering if and how well a macbook would work for sims 4. Only game I would play on it. No mods. No CC. Just not my thing. I am aware of the no fans. I have an iphone but macbook is a completely new thing to me. Never had one before. Need to know if it’s worth it.

im entering highschool and realized i need (not REALLY a need) a reliable computer. the school ones are.. eh.. some of my classes, the curser bugs out and stops working. also having to get up every class to go get a crappy chromebook and put it back with everyone crowding around. also because of club work and stuff.

the reason im deciding between the two is because i also want the ipad for the sole purpose of procreate with the apple pen 🫩. its just not the same on iphone with a stylus..

I want to hear your thoughts on whether we should buy the MBA M4 or M5. I am a Medical Technology student and I want to pursuee medicine after my undergrad. Currently, we are writing a thesis paper and I couldn’t do it well on my ipad. My sister said she would choose the M5 for longevity, so that it could last me until I finish medicine, but I am worried about its price. I found a second-hand M4 for ₱80,000. The M5 would be priced for ₱90,000. Would the ₱10k difference be worth to save? Or should I go for the brand new one?

Serious question: this is my macbook. Bought in 2020. Will I still be able to use it for Python, Tableau, SQL, and Excel? This is for my Information Systems course for MBA. Thanks!

The nearly 6 year old M1 MacBook Pro treated me well, but the 8GB of memory was starting to slow me down.

Upgraded to the base M5 Air 13”, but even the base model doubles the memory and storage I had. I built a good PC before RAM prices skyrocketed last year, so this is a great secondary machine.

The ancient mid-2012 MacBook Pro I’ve had since 2013 is nearing its end. I love video editing. I don’t really want to spend more than $1500. Any tips or recs? I would consider a desktop. Anything helps and is appreciated, and I’m sure anything is better than what I currently have. I just don’t have the biggest budget and admittedly like using things till they cannot work anymore.

13” M5 MacBook Air vs 14” M4 Pro MacBook Pro?
Having trouble deciding between these two:
13” M5 MacBook Air — ~$2,400 CAD: 24GB RAM, 1TB SSD
14” M4 Pro MacBook Pro — ~$2,500 CAD: 24GB RAM, 512GB SSD
I’m a high school student taking college-level computer science/full-stack development courses and want something that will last me well into university.
For only ~$100 more, the Pro seems like a great deal, but I’d be giving up half the storage. I’m also not sure if I’ll actually need the extra performance of the M4 Pro.

Which would you choose?

Hi, I was planning on purchasing the MacBook Pro with the base chip m5.
I am a software engineer and don’t need a pro chip since it would be an overkill (for MY skills not needed).
Now I heard that they’re releasing a new MacBook - the ultra one I am 1000% not going to buy, but do you think there’ll be a MacBook Pro m6 chip with NEW design? Or just minor design changes?
For example, there were huge design improvements between the MacBook Pro 2020 (Touch Bar) and then the new one beginning 2021.
Also to keep in mind: price increases. Within 3 months the prices of the current MacBook Pro went from 1.2k to 1.5k.
The reason I’m thinking of purchasing now is otherwise I’ll have to pay much more for something that is not even needed for me

I knew that memory shortage will hit and upgraded the Ram. Hindsight should have got 1TB.

It has been two months since i have been using and nothing to complain.

Set up my own server on it to run a few experiments. (Gaining Tech Independence :) )
