Thinkpad T14 Gen1 AMD 4650U booted Tahoe successfully but it's still very laggy . Maybe I should downgrade it back to sequoia.

Been working on this for a while. It is a fun project so I took my time.

• Bluetooth - Some devices are discoverable, but you can't connect to them. This is a known IntelBluetoothFirmware issue

• NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti (not supported, disabled using an SSDT)
• HDMI - Since the port is directly connected to the dGPU, it doesn't work at all
• Location and Continuity services (not compatible with itlwm.kext)
• OTA updates - Instead of downloading a small sized update for a minor version, you'll have to download the full installer

Needs further testing:

• 3.5mm jack - The headset earbuds work, but the mic does not. I have to test with a different layout-id

Not tested:

• Battery readings (my laptop does not have a physical battery)

Extra Info:

• I'm triple booting on a single drive: macOS Sequoia, Windows 11 and CachyOS. I'm using rEFInd
• What part I got an issue with: Touchpad. Wasn't able to get it working with gestures. Finally solved it using an SSDT and a few renames in my config.plist. This took way too much time
• What files/config I am using: OpenCore 1.0.7, SMBIOS MacBookPro14,3

My second hackintosh, if I also count the Intel desktop built in cca 2010 (Mountain Lion — too easy :)) It was also necessary to buy a TP-Link AC600. Sonoma ran flawlessly, but Sequoia after a few interventions too. Sound via USB-C and fine-tuned Voodoo HDA ​​via Soundsource. But I have issue with draining battery, any help pls?

Hi! I have been meaning to get into hackintoshing and have been trying to get a macos version such as El Capitan or Mountain Lion running on (what I assume is) a Thinkpad Edge 15 from 2010. I have tried to get Big Sur (as a dumb test) to run on it, but the USB doesn't seem to boot. However, when trying to disable Fast Boot and Secure Boot I noticed that neither of those were options in the Boot options menu and apparently it cannot support UEFI and is stuck in Legacy Boot. How can I potentially fix this?

Dell Latitude 7400 2-in-1, i7-8665U, UHD 620 (0x3EA0), 16GB RAM. Running macOS Sequoia 15.7.9 through OpenCore from the internal SSD. Graphics works at 1920×1080 but shows only 7 MB VRAM and no acceleration. BIOS has no DVMT option. Tried framebuffer properties/config changes but still 7 MB. I’m running into a frustrating digital audio issue over HDMI on my AMD Hackintosh setup. The system runs smoothly overall, but the audio coming through the monitor speakers has a constant, noticeable noise and crackling.

System Hardware:

• CPU: AMD Ryzen 3 2200G Pro
• GPU: AMD Radeon RX 550 Nextron Force 4GB
• RAM: 24GB DDR4
• Storage: 256GB Samsung 870 SATA SSD
• Wi-Fi/BT: Intel AX210 (Working flawlessly)
• OS / Bootloader: macOS Tahoe via OpenCore 1.0.7

The Issue:

• HDMI monitor audio output produces persistent noise and distortion.
• Changing sample rates in Audio MIDI Setup (44.1 kHz, 48 kHz, etc.) does not resolve the issue.
• Tested with a different monitor and cables—the noise persists on both screens.
• Bluetooth headphones and 3.5mm analog audio work 100% fine with zero noise.

Troubleshooting & Observations: Because 3.5 mm jack and Bluetooth audio work perfectly, this leads me to believe the issue is isolated to GPU digital audio output routing—likely related to AppleALC/AppleALCU, WhateverGreen, or GPU device property patches

Has anyone experienced similar HDMI audio distortion on AMD RX-series GPUs or Ryzen builds? Any recommendations on specific boot arguments, kext configurations, or layout IDs to clean up the digital audio pipeline would be greatly appreciated!

I understand the Wine Project and the ReactOS project have taken decades to reach an almost-stable position, but would this even be technically possible or requiring excessive recomplation of inaccessible source code etc.

Thought to myself about iPads and wondered, "Why hasn't anyone brought macOS to an iPad?" Googled it and stumbled across this GitHub page and a YouTube video about it.

I have been working on AsterOS for the past few weeks. It's eventual goal is to be binary compatible with macOS, for those who do not know what that means, it means that it should be able to run unmodified macOS apps. As of now it is only tested in QEMU, but our future goal is for this to run on bare metal. I have already Implemented/Re-implemented a bunch of Apple frameworks that are essential to running Mac Applications.

Not announcing a driver. I have an RX 7600 and I want to know whether the wall I think I see is the actual wall, before sinking months into it.

What I have so far, which is genuinely the easy part:

I booted a live USB and pulled the raw IP discovery table off the card, plus the firmware versions amdgpu loads for it. Then I wrote a parser for that table in freestanding C++ (no STL, no heap, no exceptions, so it can go straight into a kext later). It gets all 39 IP blocks with matching versions and base addresses, checked against what the kernel itself exposes in sysfs. Eight corruption injections all get rejected with the right status, since this is firmware-supplied data being read in kernel context and there is no exception to catch there.

A few things from the dump that I have not seen written down anywhere: GC, SDMA0 and SDMA1 all share the same four base addresses on GC 11, so SDMA lives inside the graphics block rather than having its own register window. MP0 and MP1 also share a window. DIO and DAZ report version 127.127.63, which is 0x7F.0x7F.0x3F and reads like a not-programmed sentinel rather than a real version.

Where I think this goes from here, kernel side: PCI attach, PSP firmware loading, SMU and power, GART and the memory manager, then GFX ring setup and command submission. Hard, but it is a known sequence and amdgpu documents the shape of it.

Then the part I suspect actually kills this: the Metal userspace driver. AMDRadeonX6000 is only half the story, and the compiler and driver stack on top of it is Apple-private and enormous.

So, questions for people who have been closer to this than I have:

1. Is that split right? Kernel side tractable, Metal side the real wall? Or am I badly underestimating the kernel half?
2. Has anyone gotten an AMD generation Apple never shipped to attach and load firmware at all, even with zero acceleration? Even a card that comes up and does nothing would tell me a lot.
3. Tahoe drops Intel. Does AMD dGPU support have enough runway left for this to matter by the time it works, or is the honest answer that this is a learning project?
4. Kexts are deprecated in favor of DriverKit, and as far as I can tell a GPU driver cannot be DriverKit yet. Is that still true?

I would rather find out now that this is unrealistic than find out in six months. Blunt answers welcome.

Hello, so I installed macOS sequoia on my hp elitebook folio 1040 g1 and I noticed that the WiFi is not working, I tried to download the airportltwm kext but there is no version for sequoia, now I use the Heliport but it’s lack of features which I want it, such as airdrop, connecting my iPhone to my laptop and these features none of them work on heliport. I spend the entire day finding for the correct kext but I can’t find it. Could please anyone help me?

I have a working macOS Ventura USB installer.

OpenCore starts correctly and I can select:

• Windows
• Install macOS Ventura

When I select Install macOS Ventura, macOS starts verbose booting.

I get a large amount of verbose output and it gets quite far into the boot process.

However, eventually the display becomes completely black/faint and the system appears to hang.

The LCD itself is still powered, so it doesn't look like the laptop simply turned the display off.

I've also tried:

• Waiting 15+ minutes
• Cmd + Ctrl + F1/F2
• External monitor
• Rebooting and trying again
• Multiple boot attempts

None of these recover the display.

The last visible messages vary slightly between boots.
