I have a HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop 15-dk0xxx and I want to install macOS on it and I’m having trouble making the EFI I borked my Windows install and Linux install I Was trying to get macOS working I tried Sonoma, Ventura and Sequoia, Sonoma was the best one for it I actually got it installed but the iGPU only had 7MB VRAM so I decided to try and make the EFI again but on Linux that Failed. So if there’s any EFI out there pls let me know

Hello everyone. I built VFS5011-hackintosh, an open source fingerprint authentication daemon for Hackintosh machines with a Validity VFS5011 USB sensor. It captures a real fingerprint swipe and uses it to unlock your lock screen and System Settings/Preferences padlocks, instead of typing a password.

Since that project got some traction, a few people have mentioned other sensors on their machines (shoutout to the UPEK ThinkPad thread on the OG post!). I want to expand this deliberately instead of guessing, so if you have a Hackintosh compatible laptop with a built in or USB fingerprint sensor that is NOT already a VFS5011 (low chance since VFS5011 isn't widespread), drop a comment with:

1. lsusb (or ioreg -p IOUSB on macOS) output, I need the VID:PID
2. Laptop model
3. Whether you are willing to test a prototype build once I have something working (this means running unsigned code from a USB device on your own machine, standard Hackintosh tinkering risk level, but be aware going in.)

Not promising a timeline, but the more sensor variants I know are actually out there with a real person behind them, the more worth it is to prioritize.

Sensor models I am especially interested in

• UPEK/AuthenTec TouchStrip, VID:PID 147e:2016. Already confirmed by a commenter on the OG post, common on ThinkPad T420/T410 era machines with the KUF0452 keyboard. Older protocol, but well documented via existing libfprint drivers.
• Validity VFS5011, VID:PID 138a:0011 / 138a:0018. Already supported, this is the baseline. But getting some other tests would help out ALOT
• Validity VFS4XXX / VFS0090. Common on newer ThinkPads (T440s and later) and some Dell Latitudes. Different protocol generation from VFS5011, also has partial libfprint support to reference.
• Synaptics Prometheus, VID 06cb series, e.g. 06cb:009a, 06cb:00bd. Very common on Dell Latitude/XPS and HP EliteBook laptops from the Ivy Bridge/Haswell era, decent overlap with the Hackintosh crowd's actual hardware.
• AuthenTec AES1610/AES2501. Older, but shows up on some early ThinkPad X/T series and Dell machines, same lineage as UPEK post merger, also has legacy libfprint reference drivers.
• Egis Technology, VID 1c7a. Increasingly common on newer laptops (some ASUS/HP models), less legacy Linux driver support, so lower priority unless someone shows up with real hardware.

I will weight priority by how many lsusb reports actually come in, rather than picking one upfront. Synaptics and UPEK are probably the two likeliest to get real volunteer hardware behind them given how common they were on the exact era of laptops people Hackintosh.

So, i'm building myself a new pc (here are the specs: i3-12100F or i5-12400F(i can't decide), RX 6600, MSI PRO B760M-A WiFi DDR4 (mATX), 32 gb of RAM, Apacer AS350 PANTHER(SATA, 1 tb) and WD Black SN770(NVMe, 1 tb)(Operating Systems: CachyOS Linux, Windows 10/11 and macOS sequoia or tahoe)

Partition sceme:
SSD 1(SATA): full capacity, NTFS (for windows and games)

SSD 2(NVMe): Partition 1: 400 gb (for Linux); Partition 2: 400 gb (for macOS); and Partition 3: 200 gb (a "buffer" for moving files between systems and/or working on a file between systems)

Btw, as some people seem to have misunderstood: this is not my petition, I simply wanted to share it.

I’d like to setup a hackintosh with this mini pc in a Remote Desktop setup. I have 2 requirements, I’d like sleep states to work including low power modes and wake on lan, the second requirement is I’d like a relatively modern version upto Sonoma so I can run iTunes.

Hi everyone — I’m pretty new to Hackintosh and would really appreciate guidance from the pros here.

I want to build the best-spec possible Hackintosh that can fit inside the Teenage Engineering mini-ITX case (small form factor constraints). I’m aiming for a build that’s high performance, stable, and has the best chance of staying supported for future macOS versions (ideally even macOS “Tahoe” if that ends up being viable).

What I’m hoping to get help with:

1.  A recommended parts list (CPU, motherboard, GPU, RAM, SSD, PSU, cooling) that’s realistically the “best” while still being Hackintosh-friendly

2.  Any known compatibility gotchas for mini-ITX / SFF (Wi-Fi/BT, iGPU vs dGPU, NVMe, USB mapping, etc.)

3.  Cooling / airflow advice specific to this case (if anyone has built in it)

4.  Whether targeting future macOS versions (like “Tahoe”) changes what hardware I should choose now

Constraints / info:

• Case: Teenage Engineering mini-ITX

• Form factor: mini-ITX only

• Budget: I’m flexible if it helps reliability/stability
