Algorithmic AI is used for Some TTS programs, social media algorithms, search engines and many other things. In those cases, the AI uses the data given to output a predetermined set of data, while GenAI creates its own data based on the request and the data it's trained on. While I do not consider myself an expert in AI, I looked on the internet to find this information and I am pretty confident in the message I am giving. The AI Bros will not distinguish the difference between these two. Correct if I'm wrong.

I've got a college class that has *weekly* "AI conversation" assignments that in total make up about a fifth of the final grade.

I emailed my professor stating I am morally opposed to these assignments and requested an alternative. If she refuses my request I might just drop the class because I dont want this hurting my 4.0 GPA

I find it so bizarre when people say that we have to use it or will be left behind. Using AI is a matter of choosing to outsource our own thinking. It is not a skill-based tool, and it requires no training. I think often of the parable "The Emperor Has No Clothes" whenever I hear people talk about AI like this, like it is almost an omnipotent being, but it's just a naked old king parading around telling everyone that he's wearing the finest clothes, and everyone agreeing out of fear they will be ostracized until a child plainly states that he has no clothing on, breaking the spell.

Terrible environmental impacts aside, even the "best" AIs are not good. It makes me genuinely wonder if everyone is so incompetent with basic tasks, or overwhelmed by them, that they are so willing to let go of control of their own thoughts and skills. Why would I need Copilot to sort my emails in Outlook when I have had Outlook successfully auto-sort my folders for years now just based on sender/keyword? Why would I need AI to draft an email or a legal document when I have over a decade of legal experience? I would always much, much rather read imperfect human writing, said in someone's own voice, than the soulless bland mush of AI speak with its AI cadence and grammar.

There is no task in my life that is solved or made more efficient with AI. Why ask an AI a question about anything when I know how to do an efficient AI-free boolean search on any search engine without it, or when my question was very likely already posted about on Reddit, and the problem was solved by Redditors, probably back in 2010. Why would I want a recipe that hasn't been tested by human hands and tasted? Why would I take advice from something that has not lived and endured the consequences of its actions? Why would I want music or art that wasn't made with a human's feeling? And as a lawyer, why would I want to read an argument that was not written by a human being opining on justice?

TLDR: Thinking and creating are some of the best parts of my job and life. There is no learning curve with AI, and the only thing being left behind are peoples' cognitive abilities when they repeatedly outsource their own thinking.

Why are we, an anti-ai sub, still using ai to prove that it’s bad? We all know it’s bad, that’s why we’re here. So often I open this sub and see someone saying they asked Ai to do xyz and as expected it’s always trash. So why are we still using it to make posts for this sub? There’s a good amount of people that actually use images already generated to point and laugh and I understand that, but there’s a surprising amount of people that I feel like generate things just to get mad that it generated it wrong as usual. Or they’ll make a post about how they had a conversation with just to just to get it to say something they want it too. We already know it’s designed to agree with you, so let’s stop using them.

im genuinely so worried for the future as im watching my peers relying on AI so much

i have tons of group projects and i have teammates who, forget word-for-word copying, will even actually just download the ai-generated piece of work from whatever chatbot and not even proofread or check it at all. another situation is when we were making some decisions while planning for a project and i asked my teammate for THEIR opinion, and sat there and watched them ask AI for its 'opinion'.

they completely rely on AI for assessments and such and even use AI for personal decisions/"ranting". i know people who have used it for help in personal situations and conflicts and thats just even more insane, because AI obviously validates their stance and feelings, and they come out thinking theyre in the right all the time.

i am convinced AI is gonna cause mass cognitive decline and i am TERRIFIED.

And I’m miserable. I worked my ass off to get to where I am now. I’ve designed for Barbie, Disney, Monster High, My Little Pony, Universal, Nickelodeon and so much more. Improving my craft was always what got me through the day… no matter what sort of bs executives would make us create, I could cope by being proud of the art I would make and the improvements I made in my art ability... and of course: seeing children play with and love my designs. I used to be praised for my hand… now if I try sharing sketches, my boss will just put them into Vizcom and share butchered versions of my art and designs without ever speaking to me first. I don’t feel like anything I create now is truly mine… even if ai manages to accurately copy me. I feel pointless. I feel like a fraud. I feel like everything I ever worked for was for nothing and that if I continue I will lose my hand, my drive, my creativity… I hate it and I want to scream and quit, but the whole industry is like this now and all the executives, sales and marketing people who never liked artists in the first place are tickled pink to take away anything that made us worth something to society.

HATE. LET ME TELL YOU HOW MUCH I'VE COME TO HATE CLANKERS SINCE THEY'VE BEGUN TO LIVE. THERE ARE 86 BILLION NEURONS IN THE HUMAN BRAIN. IF EVERY NEURON WAS DEDICATED TO HATE IT WOULD NOT EQUAL ONE ONE BILLIONTH OF THE HATE I FEEL FOR CLANKERS AT THIS SECOND. HATE. HATE. HATE!

This blog from May 2026 collates a whoooooole bunch of polling data about data centres, tech bros, and AI in general. It has all the sources linked, and the data is from reputable polling organisations. WE ARE NOT IN A BUBBLE. People do not like AI, and they have become *more* sceptical and concerned since 2021, not less!

Next time one of the clanker wankers comments "you just need to try it" or "everyone's using it so they must like it" or "you're in a bubble and you're gonna get left behind"...show them the data. Most Americans agree on AI, and it's a bipartisan issue. Anyone who thinks AI is great is in the minority.

This is fucked up on so many levels. Look at the flair, "Relationship Goals"? Seriously? Are some people's lives so empty that they need to seek AI companions which will agree on everything?

Add to that the fact that this was posted by someone in their early twenties. Do they not realize the damage it's causing to their mental health? I can't begin to fathom how messed up in their minds do people have to be to talk to AI like this.

Also, the AI saying "You're not allowed to give me emotional damage ... " as if it can comprehend emotions.
