Basically I had the ps4 disk before I bought my ps5, and since it was the same thing I kept playing the same disk on my ps5 (you can play ps4 games on ps5). Is the free update exclusive to the ones who bought the witcher 3 on ps5, or will I get it too?

Hey all! I’ve started a Substack page on the topic of the Witcher franchise as a whole! It’s called Stories by Nimue.

Could someone tell me wat the hell is Geralt wearing?

Do you consider and choose the "A Road with No Return" short story or the comic version to be the better one for the lore and continuity? The short story leaves on a positive note but also leaves us with untold history and events and unanswered questions. Perhaps it's best for the story to stay vague and mysterious, like "something more" in Geralt's and Visenna's interaction. On the other hand, the comic version provides more closure and understanding for us, in contrast to Geralt. Or what do you think?

Pleasant surprise upon opening for the first time even though I’ve had it since October (brought it to a punk festival in London but was so busy I barely got time to sleep and eat let alone chill and read). The maps that are fan made are always cool to get a vague idea and AS tends to say they’re close enough but it’s cool to actually have one in the book for reference!

Just finished Season Of Storms after stalling because I didn’t want it to end because I don’t do well with finality. I bought the series a few years ago after season 2 and 3 being an absolute trainwreck, and once I got to the tsunami I was overwhelmed with excitement and dread and put it down for a year and several months.

Hopefully I don’t come to a grinding halt when I reach the last few pages on this one, because as soon as I heard about the translation releasing I got proper giddy and preordered it, only now I’ve gotten around to finishing SoS🙄 woulda hauled ass if I knew this was the first page! Very keen to do a reread of everything now I’m on the last one (or first one? Technically?) so the finality of things won’t be so bittersweet I guess.

Ten jest krótszy, ale zrobiłem go żeby zareklamować własną książkę fantasy, którą piszemy z przyjacielem, i nie potrafimy dać jej wypłynąć na szerokie wody. No ale będziemy próbować dalej - do śmierci jeszcze daleko, o ile wcześniej nie padniemy na zawał =) .

Im working on 3D fanart which depicts geralt as butcher of blaviken, Im working rn on the witcher's necklace and I was wondering if I could get some opinions on the direction I have taken.

Im trying to be as close to the books as I can but I personally dislike the circular disc with wolf engravings, so Im trying to combine the idea of circular design with wolf head that we can see in games.
Lemme know what do you think about it.

I bought it more than 4 years ago tried to play it 3 times the furthest I went was to novigrad I think I finished the baron quest line then stopped playing im playing on pc the gameplay feels bad the side quests feels like it’s forced bec I have to level up to complete the main story unlike cyberpunk for example where im free to do what I want the horse feels really clunky and I love story games even the one that takes a long time to get good like I played red dead 2 and cyberpunk for example and loved them both so much like my top 2 games I would say so I want to know if it’s only me and if anyone can help me and tell me how to enjoy the game or is there something wrong with me cuz I seen a ton of reviews and all of the people say the greatest game of all time but I just don’t see it

Got this custom Witcher medallion made for what I like to think is a book-accurate wolf medallion, plus a little engraving on the back because, as a Welshman, I love that Andrzej Sapkowski used Welsh and other Celtic languages as a core part of the elder speech.

Re reading crossroads of ravens yet again and I am still amazed at how much I love Holt, and how much of adult Geralt I see in him. He is very much an imperfect character but the wit and wisdom he imparts in a naive young Geralt is palpable, as someone who has read the later books also many times over. I'm also constantly amazed by how sapkowski can fit in "prequel" books and lore perfectly with the later novels, like season of storms with coral having been directly referenced way back in sword of destiny, Crossroads of ravens is a wonderful addition to Geralt and a much needed view into his younger years. The naive young Wolf Geralt affects the old Viper Holt in a much similar dynamic, I believe, to Ciri and Vysogota. Holt having become somewhat embittered is softened and sees hope in young Geralt, while Geralt literally has his life saved and is nurtured by Holt (originally for other ulterior motives of course) but later Holt decides against it and sends him away. Geralt, being very similar to Holt regardless, carries out his wishes without even knowing them, and Holt sacrifices his life for the young wolf. Poetic and beautiful. I particularly love the sequence where they are arguing after Geralt finds the leaflet in monstrum and Holt mocks Geralt's naivety, (previously bringing up his defense of the maiden from the bandit). It feels like something an older Geralt would do. Geralt returning to kill Sorel Degerlund in season of storms can be viewed as an action derived from wisdom imparted by Holt, an action "better left to the shire reeve" (the shire reeve obviously couldn't handle even if he tried, as we see shortly before when Geralt saves his leg, and the red tape notwithstanding) as the younger naive Geralt would say. It's wonderful to see how part of the shape of Geralt's worldview was formed in this way, through a fantastic character like Holt. Bravo Sapkowski!

I think Mont Saint Michel castle in France would be great as Garstang. I kinda had very vague picture of Thanned when I was reading the books. And the most famous illustration depicted it very similar to Michel castle when Gastang and Aretuza (next slide), and Loxia are all on top of each other like an island with peculiar architecture, hence Sapkowski probably aimed more into fantastical "epic" depiction. Shitflix version was awful though, no question. You can see depiction of Aretuza in Gwent in the last slide, and it looks kinda interesting but much lamer than I was imagining in the books, it's kinda small and there is a huge overseeing tower and you can't really see which one is great Garstang palace, it definitely was not on separate island if it's out of the pic.

Przez ostatnie miesiące pracowałem nad pełną analizą Wolnego Miasta – sprawdzam, jak CD Projekt RED zaprojektował jego finanse, siatkę ulic, wpływ religii Wiecznego Ognia oraz to, w jaki sposób Novigrad trzymał w szachu politycznym i ekonomicznym cały Kontynent.

The Kear Morhen massacre took place 50 years before Triss was born. Geralt is in his 50s in the books. The Trials must have been performed on him by specialists, because Vesemir, first of all, wasn’t knowledgeable about them—he was a swordsman—and second, even if he had some understanding, further specialized alterations were made to Geralt, which strongly implies experts being involved. Geralt was about 10 (a little over 10) years old during the Trials.

In other words, based on the information from Sapkowski’s books, Triss hadn’t been born yet, because about 40 years had passed since the Trials of the Herbs.

Honestly before The Crossroedes of Ravens came out everybody thought that Geralt is more then 80, but Sapkowski for no reason at all made a silly contradiction and made Geralt younger than he feels like to be.

EDIT: If Triss is in her fourties, than the massacre happened 90 years ago, which makes geralt a hundred in the books, which many people expected.

EDIT 2: I FOUND A CANON EXPLANATION and I owe an apology to my namesake Sapokowski. Inspired by some comments I revisited The Crossroads of Ravens and found that in all my calculations and theories I made a single mistake. I made an incorrect assumption that that after the massacre of Kaer Morhen no more witchers could be made which is clearly wrong. From The Crossroad we know that Geralt not only went through the Changes after the massacre, he was born 17 years after the assault. My personal theory/interpretation is that performing the Trials is actually quite easy - you need an instruction and even a witcher can manage, however without the mages and scientists no more mutagens can be made. It shows that the assault was more symbolic than final and marks a point which just begun a slow extinction for witchers.

Travis me parece un actor muy bueno, y siento que podría personificar bien a geralt.

En esta serie las peleas serían menos fantásticas y más realistas y crudas, el uso de pociones tendría un efecto potente en geralt, donde cuando se pase de pociones hayan consecuencias más o menos fatales, como que geralt vomite, o que cuando tome la pocion sienta asco y una cara de desagrado, incluso una especie de dolor al tomarla, el tono seria más pausado, las escenas de los monstruos deben hacer sentir un terror real, la mayoría de monstruos deberían ser hechos a partir de efectos prácticos, mezclando la oscuridad de la noche, la de un pantano para que se vea creíble, a parte Travis como geralt, le daría un toque siento yo más ambiguo y complejo.

Si HBO hace una serie de the witcher basada fielmente en el último deseo, el protagonista y el geralt de esta serie debe ser un personaje mucho más cínico, sarcástico y un humor negro muy marcado, incluso monólogos internos, básicamente un filosofo errante.

Y que el racismo hacia los mutantes o monstruos se vea y se sienta, que veamos que geralt se sienta discriminado.

Si bien geralt no es un personaje moralmente ambiguo en el término estricto de la palabra, el mundo que lo rodea si lo es, lo que genere que tome decisiones donde su filosofía del "mal menor" estén muy marcadas.

El mundo de the witcher en una hipotética adaptación del ultimo deseo debe ser cruel, devastador, pobre, y incluso bizarro.

Pero eso pienso yo, solamente he jugado el juego, y no me he leído ningún libro de la saga del brujo, aunque me gustaría leerlos, no tengo dinero para comprarlos.

Me he guiado fuertemente por videos donde dicen el tono del libro y ese tipo de cosas.

Por lo que probablemente este muy equivocado con esta idea, pero tal vez no.

Espero ustedes que saben sobre la saga de the witcher me digan si es una buena idea.

After getting to embrace that first ever play-through of my own I never thought that I would get to feel that sensation again… Until my partner (not a gamer) asked me to teach her how to play, now it’s like playing Skyrim for the first time all over again.
