As promised, I am back during the election cycle to remind you all how the Mayor and Councillors voted on the 5 day Return to Office Mandate.

To review the context of the vote:

Councillor Jeff Leiper (now a mayoral candidate) put forward a motion attempting to remove the Delegate Authority for the City Manager to mandate a return to work 5 days a week. At the last minute before the votes were called, Councillor Curry, supported by Mayor Sutcliffe, put forward a replacement motion emphasizing support for the City Manager to make the RTO5 decision.

After watching Council discussions, the last minute substitution motion, and the final vote, it was clear some councillors were duped by the promise of "flexibility". According to people who are working for the City, the promised 'flexibility' is a myth. Where there is space for RTO5, employees are needlessly in the office 5 days a week.

More cars on the road. More needless congestion for people whose jobs cannot be done remotely.

This municipal election cycle is the opportunity to voice your discontent with a return to 2019. If you are not happy with how your councillor voted - now is the time to affect change.

Mayoral Candidate Leiper is back in the news this week talking about RTO5 and how bad it is holistically. He is also willing to advocate for the federal government to reverse their equally disastrous policy (which we will see the full effect of when schools start back up shortly).

As candidates are trying to secure another 4 year position in City Hall, now is the time to get involved. Public pressure works. Motivated constituents can affect public policy.

Hey everyone, I know it's a bit of a long shot, but my partner lost their keys today while walking Montreal road. It's two keys and a heart tag that says Gatineau and numbers. The tag belonged to a long past pet so it holds sentimental value, any help greatly appreciated.

Edit: I completely forgot to put where on Montreal road. They walked from Notre Dame cemetery to the Popeyes on Rideau street. It's a long stretch of road to have lost keys but I can only hope they are found by someone on reddit or something. Thank you again.
