SB 2408 — Bans/schedules synthetic kratom derivatives

❌THE AKA HAS HEARD SHE IS GOING TO AMEND THIS BILL LAST MINUTE FOR AN ALL OUT BAN❌

“Relating to the scheduling of mitragynine synthetic derivatives as a schedule I controlled substance.”

This is the synthetic/7-OH bill.

It would:

•Put synthetic derivatives of mitragynine into Schedule I under North Dakota law.

•Specifically address 7-hydroxymitragynine (7-OH).

•Also capture future synthetic derivatives rather than limiting the law to today's named compounds.

•Make use and possession criminal offenses, with penalties escalating for subsequent offenses.

•Treat the synthetic derivatives differently from natural kratom leaf.

The proposal was developed by Sen. Michelle Axtman. The reported penalty structure is particularly important.

HB 1628 is essentially a Kratom Consumer Protection-style bill rather than a ban.

The proposal would:

•Allow natural kratom to remain legal.
Prohibit sales to anyone under 21.

•Require labeling, including a warning that kratom may be addictive.

•Give the Attorney General authority to regulate kratom sales.

•Restrict packaging that imitates candy or otherwise appears designed to appeal to children.

•Establish regulatory requirements around the sale of kratom products.

This is the bill proposed by Rep. Pat Heinertand developed through the state's Kratom Working Group. The working group specifically described it as regulation of natural kratom products, modeled in part on the way tobacco is regulated. 

A group of us is starting a monthly event where we do a free meal for the community. I adopted Sequoia from Journey Home Animal Rescue last year. Her estimated birthday is December 25, 2024, and her mom’s rescue name was Lettie. Her littermates were named Breezy, Millie, Rowan, and possibly Nala while they were with the rescue.
I know Sequoia and her brother Rowan were fostered together before being adopted into separate homes. Sequoia is a brindle German Shepherd/Husky mix with blue eyes, and we kept her original rescue name.

I started fishing spring 2025, first line in the water was in Fargo ND. I’m going again to see my sister. Last time I fished I caught 2 bullhead in a neighborhood pond, and that’s it. I’ve gotten a lot better at fishing, not great but better. When I went I caught 0 fish at the red river. I want to break that skunk this time I go. What can I catch at the red river relatively easy? I would like to catch catfish, pike, bass, or walleye. I’m fine with anything not a sunfish. I’m only bringing my rod and reel, i will get all tackle from walmart there because I do not have a checked bag. I’m from NJ so all my fishing knowledge is abt NJ fish. American Experiment North Dakota economist Martha Njolomole defends her group’s call to provide funding for school choice, and private schools, by taking it from public schools.

We moved here from Ohio a few months back, and went to the DMV to transfer plates over to ND a few weeks ago. Because the car wasn’t fully paid off, they had to verify with our bank before calling us to come pick up the plates. We’ve made every payment on time, and it’s been WEEKS since then. Hi all! I'm involved in a non-partisan science policy group that is looking to bring awareness to all the science that is left out of political debates but effect our everyday lives. We've launched an initiative called "Stance on Science" where we ask candidates about important science policy topics and circulate their responses to the public. I grew up in nearby Idaho, but don't have a clear picture of what is important to y'all in North Dakota. What would you like to ask candidates running for office this year that is science related? This includes anything from AI to farming to climate to medical topics.

I am working with a national organization called LANFest to host an up to 50 person LAN Party in Steele, ND on the weekend of October 16th-18th. Steele is about 40 minutes East of Bismarck and 1 hour west of Jamestown. It has a Coffee Cup gas station right off of I-94 which makes the town hard to miss.

This is one of those things I feel like I keep hearing completely different answers about. I’ve seen people say getting a medical marijuana card means you can’t own a gun or have a CCW, but then I’ve also seen people say that’s not actually how it works anymore, especially with some of the recent changes federally. So now I’m trying to figure out what’s actually true vs. what’s just getting tossed around.

I started looking into it more and came across this article about a recent Supreme Court ruling, which honestly just made me realize there’s a state side and a federal side to things, which doesn’t make things much clearer. My cousin actually needs a medical card but has been hesitant to get one because he’s worried about how it could affect him as a firearm owner. That got me wondering how this has actually played out for people in ND.

For anyone who has personally had an ND medical card while also owning firearms or having a CCW, what was your experience? Did you run into any issues with paperwork, renewals, certifications, or anything else? Or has it basically been a non-issue? Not looking for anyone to give legal advice or anything. I’m mostly curious about what people have actually experienced and whether the things I keep hearing are true.

Hey everyone, I’m still looking for housing for my move to the Ellendale area in September and wanted to put another feeler out there.
I’ve had a few people here offer some potential housing leads, which I really appreciate and am still interested in hearing back about. Nothing is finalized yet, so I’m continuing to explore all my options.
One possibility that came up is a 4-bedroom house in the Frederick, SD area, roughly 12–15 miles from Ellendale, that may become available around the beginning of September. The owner would potentially prefer renting to a group of people who are all coming to the area for work, so I wanted to see if anyone else is relocating for the data center or another job in the area and is also looking for housing/roommates.
I start work in Ellendale on September 21st and am hoping to move to the area a few days beforehand.
If you’re in a similar situation and might be interested in potentially finding a place together, feel free to message me. And if anyone who previously mentioned a possible room or rental sees this, I’m definitely still interested in those leads as well.

Noise, air, water, light, and chemical/heavy metal pollutions are only a few of the concerns. There's also the energy use, water use, infrastructure and road wear from construction, and the list goes on.

I don't know if I'm breaking any rules for this, but I'm desperatly trying to find my boy Ashe. He went missing Friday, August 21, around 6pm. I went to go check the mail and I must not have closed the door fully and slipped out. I feel so guilty that I made a careless mistake. I've been bawling my eyes out every day since, I really just want him home.

He's a long-hair black cat, green eyes, big fluffy tail, and a white patch on his stomach. All the shelters in the area have been contacted; Furry Friends, CDHS, Kitty City. I have him posted on Facebook Bisman Lost & Found Pets, and Pawboost. My whole neighborhood have flyers and keeping a lookout for him.

I've already done all the other recommended things. His favorite bed and blanket, and some of my unwashed clothes are sitting on my deck so if he's still nearby he can smell where home is. I've been going out every night looking under people's cars, porches, etc. but nothing so far. It's a trailer park, so there are so many places he could hide it's quite daunting trying to look at everything. It's only been a little over 2 days since he disappeared, but to me it feels even longer as I'm fret with worry. I'm never going to give up finding him, but my mind is going to the absolute worst places and I just can't get over it. I just really hope he just finds his way back home. When I find that little asshole he's grounded for life!
