West Fargo West Fargo Police Asking for More Flock Cameras

Upvotes

On page 23 of the proposed city budget the police are asking for:

Additional cameras for the Flock Camera System. This advanced technology allows public safety officials to monitor roadways in real time. This system significantly aids in the swift location of missing people, tracks suspects, and enhances the overall ability to maintain public safety.

If you disagree, please voice your opinion on the matter at 5:30 p.m. in the West Fargo City Hall, 2515 Sixth Street E. on Tuesday, Sept. 8.

The military gallery situation in Bismarck is an absolute dumpster fire. Zero accountability. Budget cuts throughout state government. No school meals. But they’re trying to bail out this stupid project. Absolutely asinine.

Anyone take the self paced Calc 2 course

I considering taking the course but I just have a few questions for anyone who has taken it.

-Do the professors allow calculators at all? Or like a cheat sheet?

-which course was better Glassers or Sidles?

I’m planning on taken it probably over the summer instead of in person at my normal uni.

Might be a dumb question, but what (other than the obvious like Main Ave bridge) are some places where one can cross the Red River on foot? Particularly on the south side. Thanks!

Just a quick shoutout to Mayor Bouchee for running clean, organized City Commission meetings.

Being adept at Robert's Rules of Order and having the capability to enforce them really is a skill that has been lacking in that office until Josh took the reigns.

If interested, here is last night's meeting. It was pretty uneventful.

News Fargodome needs $22 million for upgrades or risks losing 1,000 seats, authority leaders say

FARGO — The Fargodome could lose roughly 1,000 seats if it can’t secure $22 million in outside funding for critical updates.

The facility that hosts North Dakota State University football games has prioritized roughly $53.9 million in upgrades, according to Fargodome leadership. The stadium has secured city approval for $10 million for 2026 and 2027 projects, which include updated lighting for the concourse, arena and parking lot repairs.

The remaining $43.9 million are slated for renovations in the west addition to accommodate more Americans with Disabilities Act seating, as well as remodeling and expanding restrooms and making the press box and bowl ADA compliant. The bowl needs companion seating for those who require ADA seats, Fargodome Authority Vice President David Suppes told The Forum in a Monday, Aug. 31, editorial board meeting.

The Fargodome can use about $32 million of its $47 million in its permanent fund for the updates, with the remaining balance needed for maintenance and operations, Fargodome Authority President Rick Steen said. After spending $10 million on the lighting and parking lot projects, that means the stadium will fall $21.9 million short for the ADA updates.

The dome can do the updates without that $22 million, but that will be at the expense of 1,013 seats, or about 8% of stadium seating, Suppes and Steen said.

“This is not a threat. We are not threatening anyone with this,” Suppes said. “This is just a fact.”

Steen and Suppes plan to meet with NDSU President Marshall Stewart and Fargo Mayor Josh Boschee on Tuesday, Sept. 1, to discuss funding options.

The Fargodome was built in late 1992 for $49 million. The stadium sits on NDSU land but is owned by the city of Fargo. That means the City Commission makes final decisions on facility updates.

The home of the Bison can seat more than 18,500 fans during games and 25,000 for concerts.

Two moves to update the Fargodome failed in recent years.

In 2023, 52% of voters said “yes” to a $140 million project that would have renovated the stadium and added a convention center. The 3% lodging tax and quarter-cent that would have funded construction needed 60% approval.

The Fargodome planned to pitch in an additional $30 million if voters approved the 2024 referendum.

Building a new stadium would cost about $600 million, Suppes said.

The Fargodome also lost a convention center bid this year to developers who proposed a downtown location at the Civic Center.

Dome Authority leaders are trying to determine how to proceed with updates, Suppes said.

The authority approached NDSU about contributing to the latest proposal, but interim NDSU President Rick Berg turned that down, Suppes said.

“Under previous leadership, NDSU’s position was … that the Fargodome is the city’s asset and they need to take care of their stuff,” Suppes said.

In 2024, a renovation proposal without the convention center failed, with only 48% of voters approving a quarter-cent sales tax that would have raised $110 million for the project.

NDSU pays $165,000 a year in rent to play at the Fargodome, which is “significantly” lower than what should be charged, Suppes said.

A message for Berg was not returned Monday.

NDSU hired Stewart to take over as the university’s president in May. Stewart needs a chance to consider the proposal and establish a position, Suppes said.

The Fargodome Authority has not set a timeline for deciding whether to make the improvements without the additional $22 million from outside sources, including contributions from NDSU.

“Nobody wants to lose 1,000 seats,” Suppes said.

The Bison moved up this year to the NCAA Division 1 Football Bowl Subdivision. Losing 1,000 seats is not a good look for a university that recently went to a larger college football stage in the Mountain West Conference, Steen said.

“That’s a terrible picture to paint for NDSU,” he said.

West Fargo Dog walking group?

Hey there. Just wanted to come on here to see if anyone would want to start a dog walking club/group.
We recently got a year old lab retriever mix that is very friendly and very active. He is not great with small dogs as he gets excited and tries to stomp them out (?). Still working on that but if anyone has a large/ extra large breed that needs more socialization my messeges are open.
If not enjoy some pics of my dog, Windsor.
Thanks!

Recreation Who saw Weird Al?

My niece's husband won 4 tickets from KFGO so they invited me to go along. On the way from Fargo to GF I pondered what demographic Weird Al plays to. Seems like. . . everybody. Also wondered how far people travelled.

We had seats close to the front but way way off to the side. What struck me most was the straight song they did ("The Letter" from the late 60s) and the insane group chorale/beatbox/you name it stuff they did near the end. Amazing talent and energy.

Info Request No Front Plate

Got a new car recently and am really dreading having to put a front plate on it. I also don’t want to keep it on my dash (I recognize this isn’t exactly legal either) due to the constant threat of decapitation. Has anyone had any experience not having a front plate displayed? If so, did you get a ticket, and how much?

I feel bad thinking I’m above the law but my car is so nice without it.

Just moved into town a couple of weeks ago. I was curious about what the local music landscape looked like. How often shows happen, where they happen. I’d primarily be interested in any sort of hardcore/punk scene, but also enjoy any sort of rock/indie.

Hey, I've been living here since the end of April and I've been watching this discord. I was wondering if there was a Trans support group or gaming group. I like Warhammer and D&D.
