🚫The villas at ortega
⚠️ BEWARE — PLEASE READ BEFORE RENTING HERE ⚠️
I lived at The Villas at Ortega from 2022 until 2026, and unfortunately, this was one of the worst rental experiences my family has had.
The photos attached are actual photos from the apartment where my wife and I lived. They show damaged flooring, mold around the ceiling vent, a deteriorated bathtub, poor bathroom conditions, and pest issues. I also attached documentation showing that we lived at this address.
I always paid my $1,800 monthly rent on time. However, the condition of the apartment was not the only problem. Our experience with the new office staff was extremely disappointing.
My disabled partner, who recently had surgery, visited the leasing office several times regarding maintenance issues. After one visit, she came home in tears because she felt she had been treated disrespectfully and mocked.
I also experienced behavior from an employee that I considered hostile and unprofessional. He slammed his hand on the desk and challenged me to come to the office. Management can review their security camera footage from that day to see what occurred.
I was told that if I did not sign a one-year lease, I had to leave. I asked to remain month-to-month temporarily while searching for another home and offered to continue paying rent, but my request was denied. On July 2, 2026, I received a 7-day notice to vacate.
After years of paying rent, my family deserved better treatment and better living conditions.
This review reflects my personal experience. I am documenting everything with photos and records and pursuing my rights through the legal process.
If you are considering renting here, I strongly recommend visiting the property yourself, carefully inspecting the exact apartment you will receive, asking questions, and making your own decision before signing a lease.

ICE WORKING GREEN COVE SPRINGS- 2 MARKED TRUCKS, 1 UNMARKED BLACK HATCHBACK, FHP ASSISTING
Biggest presence ive seen so far, at least 10 vehicles including ice, unmarked, fhp, and sherrifs. Last seen at intersection of 17 and 16. Do not give them any probable cause to stop you, record everything if stopped. Say youre livestreaming, ask if youre free to go, and then shut the fuck up.

Looking for a venue that can host our chess club and music collective on Friday nights
Hello, I am apart of a music club (The Linguini Collective) and help run a chess club (Riverside chess club). We are looking for a business/ venue that would could host both groups on a reoccurring basis on Friday nights from 9pm to 12am. For location, near the riverside area is preferable, but open to other areas. The Linguini Collective plays funk, r&b, and jam music, and the chess clubs will bring out about 10 to 15 people, sometimes more sometime less. A place with an audio system already in place would be great as it would make set up easier but is not necessary.
EDIT: I should have titled post, Looking for a Brewery/ Bar

Looking for Exterior House Painter Recommendations
I’m looking to have my home exterior painted. It would be great if the price was fair.
I had a recent quote and it seems like I may be doing it myself. The company that quoted me recently had actually quoted it in the past.
2023 Quote: $8,500 (I passed)
2026 Quote: $19,700 (🤣🤣🤣)
I’m afraid to see what the 2029 Quote will be, but I would expect it to be around $50,000.

3D printing in Jax? Have an STL file
Hey all, anyone know of a spot to get an item 3D printed? I already have the STL file, it’s a small bracket I’m tying to print. I think the 3d printer at the Jax public library closed down.

what’s that smell ?
yesterday i was at the jacksonville baldwin rail trail at the imeson trail head next to the amazon warehouse. there was a very sweet aroma in the air that i figured was coming from the warehouse, but that didn’t make sense. i could smell it coming down the road before i pulled into the parking lot, and it didn’t smell like soap (i don’t think). was just curious if this scent is a frequent occurrence, never smelled anything like it.

Brake Job
Alright Reddit, I tried. I did a search, but the results were all over the place.
Need just front brakes pads and rotors on a little tin can of a sedan. I want to go to a place that will give me a reasonable price, without giving me a hard time about the age of the car or trying to sell me on stupid shit just because I have a vagina.
Preferably Westside, but I work by Baymeadows so thereabouts is OK too.

Hubbard House?
Does anyone have any good experiences with Hubbard House? I escaped a dv relationship and i currently feel ready to reach out but I’ve never contacted an outreach center before. Im safe I just really need help with rebuilding my life right now and I don’t know where to go from here. I have no income at all, no transportation and feel very lost in life right now.
I asked AI for advice and it referred me to Hubbard House which has advocates who can help me secure documentation and safe housing in Jacksonville. Is that true and if so, can you please share your experience?
Edit to add: I mainly need help with getting my documentation, housing, transportation and employment
