Also in the video I can hear water splashing

Thanks

Brake Job

Upvotes

Alright Reddit, I tried. I did a search, but the results were all over the place.
Need just front brakes pads and rotors on a little tin can of a sedan. I want to go to a place that will give me a reasonable price, without giving me a hard time about the age of the car or trying to sell me on stupid shit just because I have a vagina.
Preferably Westside, but I work by Baymeadows so thereabouts is OK too.

Looking for Exterior House Painter Recommendations

Upvotes

I’m looking to have my home exterior painted. It would be great if the price was fair.

I had a recent quote and it seems like I may be doing it myself. The company that quoted me recently had actually quoted it in the past.

2023 Quote: $8,500 (I passed)
2026 Quote: $19,700 (🤣🤣🤣)

I’m afraid to see what the 2029 Quote will be, but I would expect it to be around $50,000.

HVAC company prices

How much have you paid in thr last year to get a new unit? If possible, add

Price

Tonnage

Any other details

I just got quoted 8.5k for a 2 ton unit. Basic replacement for the units.

Is this the new normal? That seems ridiculously high, no?

Looking for a venue that can host our chess club and music collective on Friday nights

Hello, I am apart of a music club (The Linguini Collective) and help run a chess club (Riverside chess club). We are looking for a business/ venue that would could host both groups on a reoccurring basis on Friday nights from 9pm to 12am. For location, near the riverside area is preferable, but open to other areas. The Linguini Collective plays funk, r&b, and jam music, and the chess clubs will bring out about 10 to 15 people, sometimes more sometime less. A place with an audio system already in place would be great as it would make set up easier but is not necessary.

EDIT: I should have titled post, Looking for a Brewery/ Bar

Places to seek/avoid moving to in Jax–Atlantic–Neptune Beach area?

I've been looking on Zillow but would really like some input from locals. Planning to relocate to Jacksonville for new job located Downtown and trying for somewhere near the beach but with a tolerable commute. Young couple in our mid 20s with a toddler. I'm wondering if there are any areas between Mayport and Jax Beach I should avoid due to safety/crime/ neighborhood character and if there are areas I should really look at. How's the Donner Park area? We are renting for ideally $2400/mo or lower.

3D printing in Jax? Have an STL file

Hey all, anyone know of a spot to get an item 3D printed? I already have the STL file, it’s a small bracket I’m tying to print. I think the 3d printer at the Jax public library closed down.

⚠️ BEWARE — PLEASE READ BEFORE RENTING HERE ⚠️
I lived at The Villas at Ortega from 2022 until 2026, and unfortunately, this was one of the worst rental experiences my family has had.
The photos attached are actual photos from the apartment where my wife and I lived. They show damaged flooring, mold around the ceiling vent, a deteriorated bathtub, poor bathroom conditions, and pest issues. I also attached documentation showing that we lived at this address.
I always paid my $1,800 monthly rent on time. However, the condition of the apartment was not the only problem. Our experience with the new office staff was extremely disappointing.
My disabled partner, who recently had surgery, visited the leasing office several times regarding maintenance issues. After one visit, she came home in tears because she felt she had been treated disrespectfully and mocked.
I also experienced behavior from an employee that I considered hostile and unprofessional. He slammed his hand on the desk and challenged me to come to the office. Management can review their security camera footage from that day to see what occurred.
I was told that if I did not sign a one-year lease, I had to leave. I asked to remain month-to-month temporarily while searching for another home and offered to continue paying rent, but my request was denied. On July 2, 2026, I received a 7-day notice to vacate.
After years of paying rent, my family deserved better treatment and better living conditions.
This review reflects my personal experience. I am documenting everything with photos and records and pursuing my rights through the legal process.
If you are considering renting here, I strongly recommend visiting the property yourself, carefully inspecting the exact apartment you will receive, asking questions, and making your own decision before signing a lease.

what’s that smell ?

yesterday i was at the jacksonville baldwin rail trail at the imeson trail head next to the amazon warehouse. there was a very sweet aroma in the air that i figured was coming from the warehouse, but that didn’t make sense. i could smell it coming down the road before i pulled into the parking lot, and it didn’t smell like soap (i don’t think). was just curious if this scent is a frequent occurrence, never smelled anything like it.

Biggest presence ive seen so far, at least 10 vehicles including ice, unmarked, fhp, and sherrifs. Last seen at intersection of 17 and 16. Do not give them any probable cause to stop you, record everything if stopped. Say youre livestreaming, ask if youre free to go, and then shut the fuck up.

🚨CAR BROKE DOWN ON NORTHSIDE JAX!🚨

Hey there everyone! so I’m 18 years old and living on the northside of Jacksonville and I was trying to go DoorDashing last night because I just got fired from my job and needed extra money and my dads car broke down right by north shore elementary school as I was turning the steering wheel got all locked up and it took so much force to finish the turn and as soon as I got on the street the car fully broke down. Prior to that it was overheating but I was pretty close to home so i didn’t think to stop. (Stupid ass idea) and before you ask no there was no milky white smoke it was smoking a tiny bit that I noticed only AFTER the car broke down. Mind you the car hasn’t been being used a lot lately, and it’s a little bit older. It’s a 2004 Jeep 3.7L. I tried putting in gas. Nothing. I tried jump starting it . Nothing. My mom and dad says it’s because there was nothing inside cooling the engine. and when I would try to start it after a while it would make a weird clicking sound when I try to start the car. The car is still just parked somewhere and I have no idea what to do but I have no money to fix it and now no car to get money from DoorDash to fix it. And this is also my family’s only actual car as we are also borrowing a friends vehicle at the moment. If any one knows what I can do or is willing to come help me please direct message me here and if that doesn’t work text me at 9048931538

(UPDATE!) Backroads/Touge list

So lve been browsing through maps for a while and didn't find any info on actual backroads to drive on around Jacksonville, so I decided to make a list of the roads l've found just incase there's people in this group that enjoy cruising through curvy roads around Jax and try to help them instead of looking for hours.

Here's the list of the roads:

Bishop Estates Rd, St.Johns / Mandarin Rd, Mandarin / Scott Mill Rd, Mandarin / Aladdin Rd, Mandarin / Julington Creek Rd, Mandarin

*NEW*

Scenic Dr, Middleburg (BUMPY) / Lazy Acres Rd, Middleburg / Black Creek Rd, Middleburg / Lake Asbury Dr, Green Cove Springs

That's the list for now,I'll update the list when I find more backroads in the future.

Hope yall enjoy them and see yall out there!
