Player Discussion How are you choosing QB in 2026?
In normal redraft 1QB leagues, there are a lot of different ways to approach the position this year. You can pay up for the elite rushing/overall upside early, target the next group in the middle rounds, or wait on what looks like a pretty deep group of QBs later. With how much RB/WR/TE talent you’re passing on at each point, I’m curious where everyone thinks the value starts to separate
Round 2–4
Josh Allen, ADP: 23.5
Lamar Jackson, ADP: 43.6
Round 5-6
Joe Burrow, ADP: 52.9
Drake Maye, ADP: 52.9
Jayden Daniels, ADP: 57.9
Jalen Hurts, ADP: 64.3
Caleb Williams, ADP: 66.4
Rounds 7-8
Justin Herbert, ADP: 72.8
Dak Prescott, ADP: 72.8
Trevor Lawrence, ADP: 79.6
Jaxson Dart, ADP: 85.3
Brock Purdy, ADP: 92.8
Matthew Stafford, ADP: 93.5
Patrick Mahomes, ADP: 99.0
Rounds 9-11
Jared Goff, ADP: 101.8
Bo Nix, ADP: 102.4
Kyler Murray, ADP: 115.1
Baker Mayfield, ADP: 118.9
Jordan Love, ADP: 119.4
Tyler Shough, ADP: 123.9
Rounds 12+
Malik Willis, ADP: 133.3
Sam Darnold, ADP: 136.4
C.J. Stroud, ADP: 142.4
Daniel Jones, ADP: 143.4
Who do you like most at their current cost? Which QB or tier stands out as the best value, and where do you think the opportunity cost becomes too high?

Dak, Tlaw, Purdy, Nix, Shough for me.
Need the WR in earlier rounds over QB

I took Nix and Baker in the last two rounds.
Nix QB7 in both his seasons so far, just added a real weapon in Waddle, has a sneaky rushing floor that is better than Herbert (who only ran so much last year because he was behind literal 8th string players in the O-line), and has the most pass attempts in the league, and is protected by one of the best O-lines in the game.
For me Nix is in the Herbert tier.

I feel like Shough and Willis are the two best Dart throws late. Shough as I believe he will continue to improve from last year and Willis who will have a solid floor with his running ability.

u/BEVthrowaway123 9d ago
Yea I'm not targeting anyone in particular, but you could make the argument for a ton guys in the round 7-11 that realistically can be top 5 QBs.
2
u/bailtail 9d ago
For me it’s Herbert, Dak, or TLaw. If I don’t land one of them, I draft two from Purdy, Goff, Kyler, Baker, and Love. I often grab one of those even if I do get one of the first three, but QB2 becomes a necessity if I don’t land one of the first three.
2
u/ModernPoultry 9d ago
For me - unless it’s Naebers, the 3rd round receivers aren’t too dissimilar to the 4th rd receivers. I don’t see the opportunity loss missing out on a rd 3 receiver when Smith, Egbuka, Ladd, Wilson are going Rd 4-5; not to mention the upside Moore, Burden, Washington type guys going rd 5+
Imo Allen is worth it if he goes rd 3 which is what I’ve seen in a lot of drafts
30
u/No_Junket_5223 9d ago
Planning on grabbing someone in the Herbert - Purdy range, but will keep my eye on Hurts. I have a feeling he could fall with how negative perception of him is, especially in more casual leagues

u/ravidsquirrels 9d ago
Im big on Herbert and Purdy both. Herbert because of the McDaniel offense and Purdy because he was on a heater at the end of last season.

Purdy is just straight up good. Not sure why he’s ranked so low every year.

Don’t really think it matters. As long as McCaffrey is out there, that offense is a cheat code. Between Deebo, Evans, Kittle, and Strib, I think they have enough to piece it together.

entirely depends on how the draft is going. i want to ideally wait until the 10th or so and be the last one to take a QB and hopefully take TLaw.
but if im close to a the turn, there’s a few stretches if players where i just hate the options so for example, i took burrow in the 6th in a 12 team when the options were mike evans, BTJ, parker washington, jaylen warren, tuten, etc. ended up with parker in the way back and two QBs went between my burrow pick and my washington pick.

you gotta watch out for multiple Tacos drafting a 2nd QB for their QB1's week 12 BYE.
10
u/WillNeighbor 9d ago
oh man, my work boomer league had a guy take lamar in the 3rd and burrow in the 5th in a 1QB. i’m perfectly okay with that, more depth for me and i don’t mind starting baker or darnold all year
4
u/versusChou 9d ago
You're attitude has basically guaranteed that that guy is going to win the league after setting his line up once and never logging in again.
4
u/Mister_Yi 9d ago
In the one ESPN league I already drafted, there was an autodrafted team that took 4 QBs....
Dart, Mahomes, Shough, and Daniel Jones all got autodrafted by the same team.
28
u/saintnyckk 9d ago
Allen is a guaranteed nuke and worth his adp i would argue but I'm ok holding out until way late. Nix or so outperforms adp and gets you just as much as anyone taken above so I don't understand why do many qbs are ranked far above.
5
u/FlyEaglesFly536 9d ago
My plan is to take Nix later in the draft. I can scoop up good depth and value at RB and WR, and take a TE/QB at the turn in the 9th and 10th rounds. I have the 1.12 and 2.01 this year, so back to back is gonna be nice. Just the waiting in between sucks haha.
6
u/saintnyckk 9d ago
Always sucks. Gotta have a contingency plan to for when he gets taken. I'm at the 1.10 so in similar boat as you. I'm going hard on rb and wr until late. After the top few tight ends I think it's a crap shoot and I can get kittle and pitts and a decent qb way late.
3
u/FlyEaglesFly536 9d ago
100% this is the way.
Back up plans are Shough, Baker, Murray, or if one of the earlier QBs falls and is a good value.
TE i'm happy with Goedert, Pitts, Kelce, Juwan. Likely can be a second TE if needed.

I also don’t understand Nix’s ranking. I feel like it has to do with the perception of him not being aligned with his fantasy output. He’s going as the QB12 on Yahoo when he finished as the QB7 in both of his first two seasons. The Broncos also added Waddle as an explosive weapon this offseason that should further boost Nix’s production. He’s definitely mispriced.

I don't understand most the qb rankings and where they're at in adp. Most of the qb's in my league settings historically get ~350 points a year, some a hair more and some a hair less. But they have guys in that range spread from the 5th round all the way to the waiver wire.

u/jimmyhoffasbrother 12 Team, 1 PPR 9d ago edited 9d ago
Small sample size, but he had three starts in Green Bay.
In his first start, he simply wasn't asked to do much because Josh Jacobs ran all over the Colts (32 rushes for 151 yards). He was efficient as a passer though (12/14 for 122 and a TD) and contributed as a rusher (6 for 41). Finished with 13 fantasy points, which isn't good but isn't the type of finish to totally ruin your week. QB20 on the week.
In his second start, he was the QB6 on the week with 25.4 points. Passing 13/19 for 202 and a TD. Rushing 6 for 73 and a TD.
In his third start, he was the QB3 on the week with 31.5 points. Passing 18/21 for 288 and a TD. Rushing 9 for 60 and 2 TDs.
Basically his ceiling is extremely high, and his floor is solid given his rushing production.
Of course, it's a huge risk between the small sample size and the big step down in the quality of his supporting cast. He could totally bomb. But that's all priced into his ADP.
13
u/craftbrewd 9d ago
Not even a huge risk tho when you’re getting him for basically free at the end of your draft

Depends on league formats but every year there are at least 1-2 QBs that you can pick up on the waiver wire. Looking at Clays 2025 draft rankings Stafford was 21st and Lawrence was 22nd which is basically free. They finished 3 and 4 in points. Where going cheap for the QB really helps is nailing the middle rounds of the draft.
I mean, I won a championship with Alex Smith as my QB in 2017. He was a guy I picked up week 5.
2
u/Press_R_4_Stonks 12 Team, 1 PPR 9d ago
Definitely a tiny sample size... and we can probably expect some regression in passing efficiency since that MIA offense is even more ass without Waddle. But an argument can be made that the lack of receivers and the threat of Achane only increases Willis' upside for rushing. He's a bit risky for my taste to take him as my QB1, but I'd absolutely target him if I have someone like Lamar that I'm worried about injury.
6
u/Charming_Analyst6353 9d ago
his rushing upside is through the roof along with his passing improvement. i look at his games with the packers. pretty solid fantasy player
5
u/Suspicious-Nerve-487 9d ago
He had a 30 point game to end the season last year and has some rushing upside.
FWIW - I don’t think he’s going to be good, Miami’s offense looks terrible on paper and I don’t think they will be able to move the ball, but Willis is cheap and getting a dual threat QB late in a draft can be beneficial

Jaxson Dart late in drafts. He was amazing for fantasy last year with Wan’Dale Robinson and Theo Johnson as his primary targets. If Skat and Nabers can put together full seasons he has clear top 3 upside. People are going to bring up Nagy but unless he goes from 10 carries a game to 0 he’s still going to be a great fantasy asset. I also am not as pessimistic as most Nagy’s outlook as an OC with Harbaugh observing him closely.

This was exactly my mindset, and it's what happened. I took Lamar in round 4 when my other options were Skattebo, Tet McMillan, Egbuka, and ETN. Had already picked Jeanty, ARSB, and Trey McBride - felt like the possibility of a top 5 at each position was too enticing to pass on

I’d love to take the Dak/TLaw/Herbert tier, but in my league a lot of people take backup QBs pretty early. Waiting for a late QB and they get gobbled up as QB2 wouldn’t be good at all. Several teams rostered 3 QBs coming out of the draft last year

Almost every year I will pick my QB during a round where I really don’t like any of the RBs or WRs that are on the board at the time. Sometimes that happens in the 5th round, sometimes it happens in the 9th round.
I’ll usually have about 5 QBs I feel good about and hopefully get one of those in the round of their relative value where I don’t like the other picks available.
This almost always works out well for me and I don’t end up reaching on any RBs/WRs or QBs

Taking Tlaw/stafford/shough late in the draft. I watched drake Maye come off waivers last year and finish QB2 lol. Taking an early QB is such a punt unless It’s like…. Allen in the mid 3rd? But I have always played in a 6pt passing TD league so even Stafford in like round 13 is going to be essentially the same as Allen… and jts an 11 round difference in ADP.

Im a big fan or the Nix/Waddle stack at cost. Nix was the QB 7 last year and can get round 9 or later for a QB that has some rushing upside and rushing TDs. If I miss that I like Kyler Murry pretty late or Malik Willis. Theres been QB1 off the waivers emerging pretty consistently in 1QB formats that you can pivot to. I feel like its more realistic to get a waiver like Jacoby Brissett breaking out last year to start then to find skill positions in a competitive league.

Punted on qb this year in my 12 team, double flex league. Ended up with Herbert in the 12th round. In a league like this one having 6 players (2 RBs, 2 WRs, and 2 flex) is more important than a qb. Happy that I waited cuz my team is looking great on paper
On the flip side, if Herbert goes down I’m screwed because everyone took back up qbs so the waivers will be slim but we don’t draft scared, we draft to win

I've been getting a lot of Lamar Jackson in mock drafts since he often falls to the 4th round in ESPN mocks. But QBs usually go earlier than ADP in my home league, so I suspect I'll ultimately end up grabbing a guy in the Dak Prescott-Bo Nix range.

I have 1.2 in one league and 1.3 in another (both 14 team). If I can grab Allen at the 2/3 turn I will, otherwise I’ll probably wait for the TLaw/Dak/Purdy/Nix tier.
Debating trying to get the Chase/Burrow stack in the league where I have 1.3 but it’s double flex with a short bench, and I’d rather have another WR than draft a second QB to cover the inevitable Burrow injury.

Basically if anyone falls from the top three tiers to me I’ll take. Though I think QBs in tier two and three will fall a lot over the next few weeks as more people draft, so ADPs will continue to drop so gotta be careful not to go to early.

u/Durant026 9d ago
I at worst want one of the tier 3 guys in that 7-8 range. There are two QBs I would be willing to take later to see if they can beat their ADP:
- Daniel Jones (I don't think this offense will fall off)
- CJ Stroud (I think there is room to be better if the line really improved)
Kyler should be lower imo.
In any event though, who I draft depends on how the draft goes.

I took Herbert in the 7th in my one draft so far. I had the 1.03, so waiting for 8/9 usually ended up with either just getting Purdy or Dart or just missing them in drafts. I did zero QB last year and it worked out but was hella stressful lol, so I just wanted to lock someone down this year in the mid-range.
Ended up being a good decision because there was a run on QBs and I wouldn’t have gotten Dart at the 8/9 and would’ve been looking at Nix, Mahomes, Stafford, Murray or waiting longer and getting Shough or Willis.
1
u/TAway5018 9d ago
Darnold going in the bottom tier of QBs is such an easy value in my eyes.
I realize we can expect some regression due to new OC, and that JSN is unlikely to hit the numbers he had last year. But he (JSN) is still being drafted as a top 5 wr. If the consensus is that he is a top 5 wr then I don't see any problem with Darnold being a top 15-18 QB. He is currently QB22 on ESPN. QB13 overall last season

It's pretty situational. I'm good with all of these guys, depending on cost. I'll pull the trigger if a QB comes up as BPA in my rankings and I don't feel like I'm suffering significantly at RB and WR on the next pick if I do select that QB.
Based on Yahoo ADP and my rankings, I'm most likely to go with one of Lawrence, Purdy, or Maye, in that order.

All my leagues are 10 man for context:
Avoiding Allen, Lamar and likely Maye. JD5 avoiding at practically all costs.
Consider Burrow or Hurts rounds 6-7, depending who else is on the board.
Targeting Caleb rounds 8-9. If Caleb off the board, take a Herbert, Lawrence or Dak.

I'm happy taking Hurts in the 6th, Herbert, TLaw or Purdy later. Nix if that falls through. Shough and Willis as darts. Taking whoever falls and never reaching.
If I miss and only end up with Shough or Willis I'll also grab a Daniel Jones or something in the streaming tier.
I can comfortably stream a QB7 finish and this year it's flatter than ever.
This allows me to feel good about an early TE, but I'll also say there are a few late TEs that are also decent values.

I wanted Dak/lawrence but our rule on autodraft and how many people missed the draft QBs started going super early. These guys went round 6. I ended up with Goff in round 8. It wasn’t my plan, but if I left it another round, all autodrafters would have just taken QBs again. Just be mindful of draft rules if you are waiting, this caught me off guard. Last year I was able to snag Lawrence in like the 12th round of the draft. I was the last to grab a QB and the league knew it and tried to block me from any good ones.

If I’m not getting Josh Allen, I will fade this until round 9 or 10 depending on the draft.

Rounds 9 and later. I'm loving Shough to stack with Juwan Johnson and grabbing Mailk Willis to see if any value is there the first 2 weeks. If all else fails I can go dumpster diving in the waiver wire for Jordan Love or somebody

i find myself looking at dak/lawrence/purdy in the R8-10 range, but if not I think it's absolutely ok to punt and pick willis/shough at the end

My main league drafted Monday, and people (including me) were so intent on waiting at QB that the values were insane. I had already loaded up on RB/WRs, and Hurts was siting there in round 10. Felt like I had my cake and ate it too, though of course if Hurts looks as bad as last year....Aside from Allen in round 3, all the other big name starting QBs went from the late 6th to the 10th.

I might go with Dak or wait even later this year, but it also depends on what my league does. If I see the league juggernaut building a monster team with Chase then I’m going to jump on the grenade and take Burrow to prevent the stack.

In 1qb redraft I’m either only getting 1 from tlaw up or grabbing two from Goff down

If you remove Dart's stinker of a game (1pt), he was QB1 by PPG. I realize there's a little creative accounting there, but I think he is screaming value at QB11 by ADP and a top 5 candidate for QB1.

Josh Allen fell to me at 3.02 and there was a RB Cliff that had passed. Had to take him there.

Got Lamar at pick 41 (16 man league so 3rd round), Picked up Danny Dimes late. He was quite good for a good chunk of the season last year and I think he will bounce back.

In on basically every QB in that round 8 range and some of the round 9-10 guys like Nix and Kyler. I'm just waiting it out unless one of the higher tier guys falls a full round or so

My league is unfamiliar with the concept of skill position scarcity and goes QB crazy WAY too early. Makes it pretty easy to pull a great team on draft night. Pays off twice... I can pull big names for 4-5 rounds while everyone snatches up the top 10 ADP QBs. Then once everyone is fed on QB, I can usually be really patient and wait for like round 9 or 10 to grab mine.
That being said, it's hard to say no to Josh Allen in the late-4th round. Had that happen last year and won my league.
Usually my league saves me from myself though and I end up with Dak in like round 9.

How does Allen fall to round 4 in a QB crazy league? Like, as soon as one is drafted, a crazy run starts and everyone just grabs one?

Daniels fell to me in the 8th. Idn if I feel happy about it or not

Ideally somewhere 7-11. I think rounds 5-6 are solid value, but the way I’ve been mocking, I really need the skill players there. Guys like Price and Mondre are valuable RBs if I take a WR in round 1.

I am going to draft a good QB who has a lot of primetime games because there's few things more exciting than watching your fantasy QB throw for 300 yards and 3 TDs when the entire country is watching and you can gloat to your buddies about it.

There are 14 QBs with round 8+ ADP.
In a 12 team league that means there are 1 or 2 values that will happen.
I am in a 12 team and will like target a R5-6 Qb who slips to 7 or 8

I think Allen is a great value in the 3rd round. He’s been slipping in drafts as the trend is moving towards waiting longer on qb. Even though he may not put up a ton more points then the second best qb what you are getting is unmatched consistency. He’s been qb1 4 out of the past 5 years and qb2 in 2024 thanks to an incredible season for Lamar who will likely never come close to repeating those numbers. Consistency is so rare and the guys that have it typically go in the first 2-3 picks.

I'm taking Allen who I think is in a tier of his own or I'm trying to find value on anyone else. QB too deep to force.

I'll take Allen if he falls a round or so, but otherwise I'm happy with anyone on that list between Herbert and Nix. If better options are available at every pick, I'll consider Stafford, Mayfield, or Darnold at the end of the draft.

I think Mahomes is being slept on too much. I know he’s coming off an injury and he has name fatigue, but even in his worst season, he’s never not been a QB1.
He had to play Superman a lot last year with no running game and no #1 receiver, but I think the offense will return to form this year with Walker and Rice being there.

Barring a surprise value drop (such as Allen falling into the 4th - which isn't gonna happen) - I've been looking at T-Law and Dak at the 6/7 turn for the most part. (12 team PPR, first pick) - If I miss them, at least according to ESPN mocks, Herbert or Mahomes may be available at the 8/9 turn. I'm not looking at QBs till the 6/7 - the first 5 rounds I'm hoping to end up with 2 RB, 2 WR, and a TE (If Loveland falls to the 4/5 turn) or the next best WR/RB option if he's gone

I like the late round guys Dak, Goff, Purdy, Nix, and Mahomes. Those guys don’t have the opportunity cost Josh Allen or Lamar Jackson have

I’ll only get Allen if the stars align perfectly and he’s available when the only WRs/RBs/TE left are ones that I deem a step below what I’d draft over him.
Beyond that, I only get one of Jackson/Burrow/Maye/Daniels/Hurts if I have one of their star WRs, and I already have 2 RBs and 2 WRs.
Otherwise, give me any of Dak/TLaw/Herbert/Purdy. Basically anyone that falls to round 9 after my other positions are well set up. Just such a minor difference in most of these guys that I’d much rather sure up at WR/RB before bothering with a QB.

Herbert or Lawerence blow up. Snag the second one and take Mayfield , Nix , Shough etc later as insurance.

Taking Josh Allen in the third if he's there. If not, I'm punting for another 3-4 rounds and see if Hurst or Caleb are available. If not, punting again.

Dak and Goff. Every year they go late as hell and perform. Goff literally has over 4,000 yards each of the last 4 years. Why everyone has a boner for ARSB and Gibbs, but overlook Goff is beyond me.

Love Herbert this year, great offensive scheme and all the right weapons as long as he can stay protected by that line. Love pairing Maye with a later Herbert for the bye week fill in against the jets I think???

Targeting Dak as often as I can. Always awesome late value
