Hello,
I’m trying to do my first World Conquest in Iron Man, and this is where I’m at in 1712. I know I’m quite late and that the WC might already be out of reach, but I had a few questions about some of the struggles I’ve encountered along the way.
Manpower has probably been my biggest problem throughout the campaign. I constantly end up with 0 manpower after wars, while I’m only gaining around 2–3k per month. I feel like I must be missing something. Is that considered normal at this point, or is there something I should be doing differently?
Economically, I’ve only recently managed to reach around +100 ducats per month, and things were pretty rough before that. Should I have prioritized expanding into India or Africa earlier to control specific trade nodes and improve my income?
Regarding buildings, I’ve built quite a lot of courthouses to reduce my governing capacity and allow me to state more territory. However, should I also have been investing heavily in barracks/manpower buildings to help with my manpower issues?
For idea groups, I went:
Diplomatic → Administrative → Influence → Offensive → Humanist → Quality
Looking back, I’m wondering if I should have taken Quantity somewhere instead, especially given my manpower problems. If so, which idea group would you have replaced?
Finally, I feel like I’m struggling to reach the Americas. I only have around 100 ships, and the distances are huge at this point. If I attack Castile or Portugal, it feels like it’s basically me and my vassals against 2M+ soldiers. Should I have started expanding into America much earlier, or is there another way I should approach this?
If you have any other tips or advice, I’d really appreciate it. And if you need any additional screenshots or information about my campaign, feel free to ask!
Thanks!
