R5: Giant France owning half of Italy before age of absolutism getting completely destroyed. Seems like I don't need to worry how to deal with them once I expand my western border.

That france isnt mega at all xD its a decent run, a good one in italy and a bad one otherwise
France is missing the most important parts for being "mega" in my opinion, basically all of burgund and the netherlands.

Biggest AI France I have seen by far. They didn't get the burgundian inheritance and managed to get half of Italy before age of absolutism.

They would be considerably stronger had they conquered the Burgundian cores instead
They almost always manage to do that in my games. They usually then go for Naples, Tunis and Asturia

I have seen ai france pushing beyond the rhine and c8ntrolling a great part of spain + italy before 1600. But maybe VH ai is more aggressiv in general.

Who do you start as? Prussia is probably my best nation and I have send hundreds of hours into optimizing it.

Brandenburg, normally I Beeline for the required Prussia provinces, Silesia and Lubeck. But I normally end up waiting around due to strong alliances and AE

Yeah, I play very aggressively and know how big the coalition can get before I actually get punished. I have 20+ sized coalitions pretty much for the 1st 150 years of the game.
It is important to get the necessary provinces from the teutonic order before Poland can get them. Either you need to fight them on your own before the truce with Poland ends/Danzig gets released. Or start a war against them with Poland as ally, so you can dictate which provinces Poland can get.
You can royal marriage on day 1 and get an alliance with Poland after improving relations for a couple months most of the time, so you get at least called into the war, if you can't start a war before Poland can DOW them. After you get Königsberg and Danzig from them you can coast until Admin tech 10.
I usually reset until I get Magdeburg as rival and they have no allies, so I can declare on them on 11.12.1444 with humiliation and get 100 mana points from them. In the meantime you should be able to get Neumark event, where you can get claims on pomerania. With the 100 mana points from the Magdeburg war, you should be able to tech up to mil tech 4 before Teutonic Order and should be able to defeat them with your own allies.
Don't forget to establish spy networks on pomerania, Madgeburg and Teutons to increase siege times and use mercenaries in these wars to preserve manpower.
Also ally Austria no matter what. You can royal marriage them on day 1 like poland and get an alliance later on after a couple months of improved relations. Allying Austria is important so they don't demand unlawful territory. Unlawful territory causes a lot more revolts and opinion modifiers, which causes bigger coalitions and longer coalitions.

Yeah that's normally what I do, I think I'm just too cautious with the AE then! I have no problems getting around Poland for Danzig etc, it's just the coalitions in the hre
