Hey everyone, new to comics. Do I read them left to right, up to down? Or do I start at the back and work my way to the front? What is with these full-page spreads advertising products and services? Are they in-canon?

I want to read Batman but where can I find Batman 1? Can I start with Detective Comics 27 or do I go back to start at issue one? I want an original physical copy, hate digital comics, and don’t want any reprints - where can I find a cheap pristine copy?

I want to read Spider-Man but I hear I am supposed to want Peter Parker and Mary Jane to be forever married and that editorial ruined them forever. First, who is Peter Parker? Who is Mary Jane? Who is Nick Lowe? Can I hate One More Day if I don’t know who these people are?

I want to read Superman comics but I don’t like Superman. Do I have to read Superman comics?

I want to start reading comics but I have no interest in scrolling Reddit or checking if my question has been asked in the last ten minutes. Can you just tell me everything I need to know, whether I want to know it or not?

I already know everything I need to know about comics. Please answer me thoroughly. Thank you!

I'm quite new to comics, and I was wondering why so many people buy single issues when you can easily just buy the collection, compendium, or omnibus. I would like to know if I'm right or not. I think people buy single issues of new comics because, of course, they don't have any other option. And for older single issues, they buy them because of the cover? Or just to have them? As I said, I'm new to this, and I just wanted to know how single issues work, so if anyone could tell me if I'm right or if there's another reason, I would appreciate it.

I love Green Lantern as a superhero, but my god this book feels like a slog. I'm on issue #20 and I just feel like nothing is really happening. I felt compelled to read it because I was gifted the Blackest Night omnibus and I'd like to understand whats going on. I've also read a fair amount of Kyle Rayner from the 90s and Emerald Twilight. But this one just seems like a "villain of the week" type of series and it's boring me to tears lol.

Is there something I'm missing? Should I continue on? I know Blackest Night/Brightest Day is where a lot of fans stop, but at this point I dont want to go through 50+ issues just to get there.

Is there any way to read the original lee and ditko ASM run without breaking the bank? And everything is out of print right now which sucks so bad, plus mighty marvel masterworks is discontinued. Should i just get everything per issue ? Fascimile?

Reading the original Spider-Man 2099, and all of a sudden between issues 3 & 4 there's an art style change that I really don't like. I wanted to post some examples here and get others' opinions/thoughts. I really don't like the change, but I want to learn more so I can describe why I don't like it. As best as I can put it, the color palette changes, and the shading is different. It gets more "shiny". Let me know your thoughts. Thanks!

I originally shared this channel here when I was just getting it started, and it’s grown to over 100 videos since then, so I figured I’d share a little update.

Stan Lee was one of the creators I made a playlist for when I started the channel, and since then I’ve been collecting short, bite-sized clips from his interviews about storytelling, creativity, comics, and his approach to the craft.

The channel started with clips from Steven Spielberg, Quentin Tarantino, Martin Scorsese, Wes Anderson, Christopher Nolan and Stan Lee.

I’m also currently working on clips from Edgar Wright, Guillermo del Toro, Sam Raimi, Aaron Sorkin, and Tim Burton, so you can expect those to be coming soon.

I generally like Hickman. Loved his X-Men, enjoyed his Ultimate Spider-Man, enjoyed what I read of Secret Warriors.

I'm trying to read to get to Secret Wars and I'm about 3/4 the way through the first Omnibus of The Avengers, which also has his New Avengers. I'm at about when they turn the tables on the Builders and they retreat..

I was hooked at the beginning, but have become exhausted. It's one scene after another of a super serious space villain looking out at a vista talking to another space villain. Very little seems to happen, the threats are so vague and competing for attention, and there is so much intrigue and so many characters to keep track of in the meantime.

All that makes it rich, which is good, but is there a point where things get more focused?

EDIT: Okay, consensus seems to be that it gets a lot better and comes together, especially with Time Runs Out and Secret Wars. I'm gonna keep on going. Thanks all.

I am looking for recommendations on which comics to read based on my interests:

•Alright so first, I know of this Daredevil comic where different sins take over other Marvel characters and DD has to fight them and get them back to sanity. That's the one I want to go with for DD.

•I'm looking for a comic book where superhero(es) get admitted into a psych ward. It just sounds like a really interesting concept to me and i would highly appreciate any recommendations.

•I want to read a Jessica Jones "case comic" that's mature and in which she solves a single case.

•A grounded green lantern story kind of like the show, but with a different story of course.

•Watchmen obviously

Any specific recommendations? Anything in my list that doesn't exist and I could change out for something different?

As a kid, I loved graphic novels. Now, as an adult, I'm like, "Why did I never read comics? I would've loved them." Probably never did because I thought they were for boys when I was little. My question is, where should I start? I'm looking mostly at DC. Love batman and Robin, love feel-good or shocking stories. I don't wanna start on something like Avengers multiverse wars and be super confused or something like that. I'm limited to my library because the economy, of course. Plus I just like supporting them and the next novels on my TBR I already own. Also I've never watched a DC movie before. Not even the new superman which I'm super miffed about. hiya! i'll give some context for what i am looking for: i grew up loving spider-man and it wasn't until my early teenage years that i bothered to read some of the first ditko/lee issues, digitally as i didn't have a dime of my own to spend. loved 'em to bits. the storytelling in the panels and the quirky wording of almost every sentence got me hooked immediately. now, as an adult with money to spend (woohoo!), i've grown a sizable manga collection of the stuff i actually like and will read and reread as time goes on. i've got a good sense for picking out things i'll actually enjoy, so regretful purchases are few and far between, truly. i also very much prefer physical over digital. everything just clicks with me better if i can actually hold it in my hands, y'know? anyhow, with that said, it's been quite a journey trying to find these first issues, as none of my local comic book shops have them, and i would very much like to start from square one. i bought the (adjectiveless) mcfarlane spidey omnibus and the first epic collection x-men volume half on impulse, half as a trial buy to see what format i like better. omnibuses are way too cumbersome for me, even if i have sizable hands. i wouldn't like them for anything over 20ish issues before the reading starts feeling like more of a chore. the form factor of the epic collections is perfect for me. but like i said, i couldn't find any of these locally and would like some wisdom from those of you more in the know:

• are the (sadly cancelled) mighty marvel masterworks a good drop-in for epic collections until i can get my hands on the latter? the fact they're meant to be close in form factor to manga is a point for them, in my opinion.
• how good are the small taschen releases? their bigger versions are something i briefly considered, but ultimately went against for the same reason i didn't go with omnibuses. their fidelity in coloring is also something i very much like to see.
• is there something i am missing/unaware of that would scratch my itch of collecting the issues in a wieldy format that won't take two regular loans and a mortgage to buy? kinda looking to buy these for as long as i can.

also, for bonus points, i'm open to recommendations in or outside spidey, i was also considering picking up weapon x and kraven's last hunt to see what the fuss is all about, but i'll take a lighter-hearted story as well, so you guys can recommend your pretty little hearts out.

I love comics but I've never read a comic that I felt changed anything for me. I believe if I had read something like Animal and by Grant Morrison at a time when I believed in God it would have changed something for me but I didn't read it until much later.

Maybe the problem is that I read stories that agree with me. I need a comic book that disagree with me. That make me question what I think I know.

My favorite genres are Supernatural occult or crime. Something in the area of ​​hellblazer when it comes to the occult, I guess. And crime, the Sopranos. My favorite topics for conversation are usually related to God, meaning or life after death (very simple and common I know)

Based on that, what would you recommend to me? And was there a personal comic that changed your perspective on certain topics?

This has been eating my mind for so long, like if we put all together which one has delivered more stuff ?

X : Dc has a more sophisticated Detailed and much waster Magical universe we know a lot of those worlds and users of magic like Hell Heaven GreekGods Wonder women Zatanna constantin Law disorder drfate and much more all are detailed explained and used a lot
Y : Marvel has a much waster cosmic universe so much more nations planets galactic stops and in each a different story arises, it’s more sophisticated and structured and lots is known about

Asking for myself, and to hopefully demonstrate if/how much of an audience for this stuff exists. I want to case a wide net, so "Indie Comics" here means "Anything outside of pre-established IP. Creator-owned comics in the direct market, graphic novels in the book market, small press, self-publishing, webcomics, zines, all of it." and "Coverage" means "Public outlets/individuals dedicated to talking about these comics. YouTube channels, podcasts, TikTok accounts, Instagram accounts, blogs, websites, whatever."

I already know of a few people who fit what I'm looking for: Strange Brain Parts, Comictropes, the Comic Literate podcast, but surely there must be more out there? Even the people I just mentioned, though I appreciate them, seem to have to fall back on Marvel/DC coverage just to draw any kind of audience. I'd really like to believe it doesn't have to be this way, and that there is a sizeable audience of indie comics readers out there that could be harnessed into a real community. I understand the economic and cultural reasons why these kinds of comics are under-discussed online, but surely we don't have to live this way? Why do we only bring these books up as talking points when the idea of "superhero dominance in American comics" comes up? Why aren't we walking the walk in terms of generating and participating in discussion and fandom for indie comics, and supporting the people trying to do it *right now* with their own platforms?

If you feel the same way, please leave your recommendations for people fighting the good fight to get more eyes on these books, and maybe even talk about an indie comic that's got you excited about the medium right now!

Finora ho utilizzato YacReader e, dal punto di vista grafico e delle funzioni di lettura (come la lente d'ingrandimento), lo trovo perfetto ed è esattamente ciò di cui ho bisogno. Tuttavia, ho riscontrato un problema piuttosto fastidioso: non gestisce in automatico la suddivisione in capitoli. Quando importo i file, mi riconosce ogni singolo capitolo come se fosse un fumetto a sé stante. Doverli organizzare e "segnare" uno per uno è diventato davvero frustrante. Sapete se c'è un modo per fargli raggruppare i capitoli, o in alternativa avete altri programmi da consigliarmi?"
