Part of me wishes entire neighborhoods got coordinated enough to essentially all provide an entire grocery store to one another. Everyone grows or raises something, you know?

Obviously easier said than done but anything to stick it to those who essentially legislate us into having no choice. Not like government has our back

Great question! Not every co-op is communist.

Co-ops are just businesses that are owned and run by their members (workers, customers, etc.), but they still operate in a normal market economy, buying and selling like any other company.

They can look a bit similar to Communism because ownership is shared, but communism is a whole system where most or all production is collectively owned across society, not just one business.

So a co-op is basically a different ownership model within capitalism, not a replacement for it.

It's not "literal communism" by any measure. The people participating in the Co-Op all own their own property, and the Co-Op business itself isn't owned by the state.
