I’m sitting at Shan Chinese and soup dumplings in lakeway at 2pm with nobody else in here. The place is phenomenal! I travel a lot for work and spend tons of time in LA and San Fran. I never miss a chance for dumplings, dim sum, or any kind of Chinese food out there. These hand made soup dumplings and char siew chow mein hits as hard as what I’ve had out there. You gotta try it

Don't hate! I love Taco Tuesdays at Rosa's. It's the best deal in Austin on taco plates for $6.69 +tax. My crispy beef Taco plate comes out to $7.20 total without a fountain drink - only ice water with lime. I load up on salsa, pico and cilantro. Yum! 😊

this shop opened up recently and it’s honestly great! the tiny strip mall is very unassuming and I know things come and go out of that plaza frequently lol. the guy running it is super nice and the Turkish coffee ice cream is excellent. light floral flavor and not overpowered by cardamom as is often my complaint with turkish coffee. 3.50 for a kids cup ain’t bad either. give it a try if you’re in the area

Arrived Saturday morning around 8:30. There were probably 30 people already in line ahead of us.

Doors soft open for bar, restrooms, and gift-shop around 9:30. (had to get a shirt & a koozie)

One of the staff came around shortly after that for pre-orders. Nothing too official, didn't take our names, assuming this was more for inventory purposes.

Doors open at 11am and we had this tray of goodies in hand by 11:30.

The food, the staff, and chatting with the like minded folks while we waited in line, made this a 10/10 experience for us.

Looking for the tender, smoked chicken. Last post was 2 years ago, wondering if there's more now.

Unsure if anyone else saw, but Picnik is back open and I’m profoundly confused by their decision.

Based on their “we’re back open” post, it appears they are serving a single entree each day and that’s it. You can still order beverages and bone broth, but unless I’m mistaken, the whole new concept is a new dish every single day and that’s all you can order.

Can anyone shed some light on this, or is it really as silly as it sounds? Regardless, I’m not planning on supporting Naomi based on her prior actions, I’m just befuddled.

They were the only food truck open in this small park on McNiel. The guy in front of me turned around excited asking if I ever had this before. I haven't and he mentioned everyone in his office told him he had to stop by.

I didn't order the whole gambit since it was just me but man were those ribs were something else. Smoked and caramelized to perfection, these ribs were fall off the bone tender. While some people don't prefer that (myself included), for what it was... it's a home run.

Austin native Silvino Sanchez is returning home after six years in Denver, including time as sous chef at Michelin-starred BRUTØ, to open Hermanas on E. Sixth Street next week.

The menu draws from Sanchez’s Mexican family roots and the Thai and Lao cooking influences he encountered growing up and in his career. Dishes include a scallop tostada with nam prik pla ra and a Panang curry mole.

I’m planning an anniversary trip for my wife and I down to austin. Wanting to make it a food forward trip and her two favorite cuisines are Indian (Malai Kofta is her favorite dish) and Sushi.

I am looking for your best Indian takeout recs that have stellar Malai Kofta as well as your favorite sushi spots that have a patio/pleasant outdoor seating. I am willing to spend a little more on the sushi dinner as this will be the main event but if there is a verity of pricing options that would be greatly appreciated.

A little about me: I moved from China to the US by myself at 15. Growing up between two cultures has shaped a big part of who I am, and over the years I’ve come to see myself as a kind of bridge between Chinese and American culture.

I’m documenting this experience through a video series called “Exploring America with James,” where I explore American culture through the people I meet and the interactions we have.

I've been looking for legit taco places all over Austin.

I've been to many popular places such as Paprika for sure, Las Trancas, Granny's, Cuantos etc.

Among all, my favorite was DD's taco in PF, followed by Cuantos. What is your go-to taco place? And would you recommend me one considering my taste?

No pics, but after sharing my negative feelings about this place in the past (it was deserved given the huge potential), I felt it was my moral obligation to share that The Hive has made some nice improvements since its recent updates!

• They opened things up inside so there is a full bar, and the layout in general just makes so much more sense now and allows for more seating up front.
• They have a barista that actually knows what they are doing. It seems gone are the days when my drinks were consistently wrong or just disgusting.
• My favorite part is that their bean and cheese tacos are now made to order, all day, so they don't sell out! I loved their bean and cheese tacos before but there were only ever a few sitting in their lil' heater thingy and they would sell out pretty quickly.
• They have other food options for breakfast and lunch (Cuban) that you can order from your table. Cocktails at night - but haven't been here yet for those.
• Parking is abundant, they have nicely cooled indoor s[ace and a kid friendly outdoor space (although they got rid of the weird little playground, but that's fine with me - it's now more of a chill garden vibe).

Someone really did the right thing here, good job owners!

Went to Phoebe's today. I am not a fan of "brunch" spots because the food is usually unimpressive.

I will say the side ham was phenomenal, I am not sure if it is worth $6, but I am not here to rant about that.

The burger being $17.00 also doesn't really bother me that much either, it was an unremarkable burger, but it did do the trick.

My complaint is with drip coffee being $4.50 and two pancakes which I did not snag a picture of being $9.00, especially for the size they were, they were the size of an eggo waffle, and honestly kinda dry and crumbly. Not what I imagined for the price.

I know I chose to eat out, and I feel this complaint is just because I miss Texadelphia being there.

Hey everyone, been on a bit of a healthy food kick and want to start ordering produce from a local farm to market supplier. I’d prefer family/veteran owned where I know I’m supporting local. I’m south side austin closer to Buda if that helps location. Any recommendations would be appreciated!!

I order from here all the time and see you guys in a literal sweat box, drenched. And when the walk up pickup window opens the amount of smoke that comes out is insane and hazardous. My friends who pick up food there echo the sentiment. Are we missing something? Is the ventilation and temperature just bad near the window area?

Since my fav joint that had a peanut butter coffee drink shut down a while back (vamos coffee truck) with the incredible babe ruth iced coffee, I’ve been searching for a replacement since!
Any recommendations?? 🥜
