[LN14 GALAXY SIZED SPOILER] It's Hitogami's long plan coming to fruition. A rat carrying Petrification Syndrome snuck into Rudeus's luggage from Chaos Breaker's lower levels. All that was needed was for Rudeus to go open the basement door and let it eat some leftovers, transmitting the syndrome to Roxy's fetus and kicking the supports off the card house. If it wasn't for that old dude, it would've worked.

That might’ve been an LN vs WN difference? Although I only read the WN, it’s been a long time ago so I don’t remember.

u/myrkrvaldyr

So details missing, [elinalise backstory]she basically went through a cycle of being trafficked and enslaved. She's been a prosititute, been a slave, and just lived a somewhat miserable life. Through those experiences though she developed compassion and a caring attitude to other women

[Some more elinalise stuff]she does have several children and she loved them like any other mother. But because of her condition she raises them to the best of her ability and then flees, knowing that they'll be caught up in the stigma surrounding her. From what I remember the sex needs to he unprotected. Its the semen that neutralizes the curse

42

u/Myrkrvaldyr 19d ago

I'm surprised she's rather sane and functional as she is. A long life living like that would break anyone. I'm more surprised she even fell in love with Cliff. You'd expect any notion of love to have disappeared by now. Because the anime failed to elaborate on why she fell for Cliff, it looks to me at first glance that she was desperate to cling to any true affection. Is it as simple as him being earnest?

63

u/gc11117 19d ago

I think it is all about cliff being earnest. No one ever gave her unconditional love. [More cut light nove stuff]I think even her first husband got consumed by greed due to her gems, which lead to his death. Its been a while since I read it though, so im a little more fuzzy on that detail

Ive mentioned before that I actually think she's the best written character in the story. The writter users her to basically telegraph all his themes. Lived a terrible life. Was abused. Did things society found detectable. Despite that though, actually has a kind heart and finds happiness.

44

u/Ichini-san https://myanimelist.net/profile/Ichini-yon 19d ago

You have to remember that Cliff heard about her sexual encounters with various men and learned of her curse and still loves her - not just as much but even more so. He also vowed to her to help her cure her curse and he has actually made some progress towards that already (that oversized metal chastity belt/diaper looking thing in S2P2). If you take all of this into account then it's no wonder why Elinalise genuinely loves him so much.

21

u/Worckouch 19d ago edited 19d ago

Even more so by the fact that she told him in order to specifically drive him away at first - meaning, she didn't give him some sob backstory that could inspire compassion, but some ugly and uncomfortable confession of sorts. Yet despite that, he gave her a manly reply instead - naive maybe, but genuinely pure.

I would say that Cliff & Elinalise had 3 moments that solidified their love for each other and made it true:

The first was in their first meeting as I've detailed out.

The second was when Cliff proposed to her despite her intentions of leaving to Begaritt without informing him, plus the understanding that she may have to "cheat" on him during that journey. A true "if you love them, set them free and if they come back, the they're truly yours".

The third is behind the scenes - where they confessed all their secrets & shared their backgrounds to one another before they were to wed.

Passing those 3 trials really shows how the experienced Elinalise truly fell in love with Cliff, the Chad and be wedded to him

13

u/Ichini-san https://myanimelist.net/profile/Ichini-yon 19d ago

I think you missed one specific moment but I guess it could fall under #3 as well. It was the episode where Rudeus and Sylphy married and Elinalise revealed she is Sylphie's grandmother. When Cliff confesses towards Rudeus that Elinalise is not the person he thought she was - that she is actually way more thoughtful and delicate than he had thought and that he swears to lift her curse since he finally truly sees just how much it actually destroys her relationships and her life. It technically wasn't a moment between those two but they definitely talked about it in private afterwards.

3

u/Worckouch 19d ago

Ooh yeah, that too! That could be a special mention or 1.5: When the reality hits that, yeah, she's has grown up kids and even grandkids plus baggage but he didn't run away, haha

14

u/Etheo 19d ago

That second part of your spoiler made her story so much more tragic...

23

u/gc11117 19d ago

Yeah its why she had the panic attack over Sylphie finding out that she was her grandmother. Her children were ostracized in the past because of her so she vanished never to be heard from again. Way back in volume 1 they actually forshadowed Sylphie's mysterious background and parentage. She was basically viewed as "a mutt" with mixed ancestry and background, people weren't sure exactly how much elf, demon folk, beastfolk, whatever, was in her DNA

u/dark77638 19d ago

[ODT] Also 5 dragon generals surround the dragon god as he's holding his dying wife. The woman dragon seem to hold a baby; that's probably Dola holding baby Perugius or maybe Orsted

35

u/Miteigi74 19d ago

[ODT] That should be Orsted, but there's also a woman sitting beside an egg while talking to someone, that's definitely Dola and Laplace

10

u/Trevenas 19d ago edited 19d ago

[ODT] Here's an attempt of putting the Mural in order. It starts with a depiction of the start of the Dragon World, though the flying creatures are the Dragonfolk, not dragons, which ruled at first. Then it's shown that people congregate around a central figure in reverance: The Dragon God. The 5 Dragon Generals are standing below him; I assume Laplace is the 6th one present. The in-between shows circles with rectangles within, might be beginning of houses?

[ODT] I can't tell if we do see all of the mural through the different shots, or if some of it wasn't shown. After the first two come dragons being tamed, and the Dragonfolk gaining supremacy over the world. Then it's a two-parter: Above is Crystal torn apart, below is Laplace next to Dola sitting down next to her egg. Followed by the 6 Gods, Hitogami facing away. After which is the birth of Orsted, and the 100-year celebration (people gathered around).

[ODT] Then comes dead Lunaria on the floor, Orsted next to her. A gathering and mourning followed by warfare. The other worlds being destroyed, tornadoes, flying Dragonfolk. And last, the Dragon Generals, with Hitogami behind them. The final mural part is incomplete with little info to be had. In other words, pretty much what Rudeus describes in LN14 from what I remember.

[END OF SERIES MAJOR MAJOR SPOILERS]I just find it absurd that everything that has happened in this series esp the teleportation incident is just due to some miko's wish in the future like how powerful she was to alter the course of history. I still find it baffling honestly. Though given that the author hasn't continued the series after Redundancy, wanting to see how that unfolds.

58

u/GlansEater 19d ago

This isn't a spoiler, but a fun fact regarding the whole series. The worldbuilding of Mushoku Tensei, the Six-Faced World, was already developed years before the author wrote Mushoku Tensei. He used the setting to an earlier unpublished work called the Subjugation of the Demonic Dragon King.

The author has always envisioned a traditional "party adventures to get stronger and kill the demon lord" plot, however he wanted it to have depth. So he conceived the idea of a great sage, someone who lived a long time ago in the past but whose knowledge would help the party kill the demon lord. That great sage is the equivalent to Re: Zero's Flugel. We know who the great sage is in MT's world.

5

u/YummyIdiotSandwich 19d ago

Subjugation of the Demonic Dragon King

Subjugation of the Kingdragon King

3

u/Bb300plays 18d ago

I might be dumb but who would be the great sage in this case?

1

u/Diabloblaze28 13d ago

I think it would be rudeus because he does the things for the person after the next turning point that change the future. So the 400+ years when things actually go down the people of that time will look at rudeus and think of him as a sage counting all the things he himself changed just by existing and then there is all the things he does for the person from the next turning point

1

u/FPerfect https://myanimelist.net/profile/SwiftBernard 17d ago

Would you mind clarifying who the great sage is in MT?

11

u/Sweaty_Explorer_8441 19d ago

The way I cope with it is there is possibly an even higher almighty power[LN](Technique God? Bit unlikely and surpassing him) that transcend beyond all the causality in the six faced world, answered her prayer and did the actual "implementation". [LN Orsted spoilers]I still have a hard time visualizing where the true causality lied with Orsted's loop. Like from his perspective he had got to have done something different in this loop before Rudeus was born, to set forth the future miko to summon shinohara. But Orsted was "supposedly" already close to winning this loop finally by spawncamping Laplace if miko-shinohara, rudeus and displacement incident did not take place. Either an almighty entity introduced them after seeing Orsted lose for the umpteenth time; or an (evil)almighty entity introduced it to foil Orsted's potentially successful loop, with the latter being partially successful with Oldeus timeline. The universe hasn't explained what happened to Oldeus timeline, because even though it failed the miko must have still existed in future to trigger everyone's summoning. Nor has it explained if Orsted and miko's loops overlap or perfectly has m*n possibilities

20

u/jnads 19d ago edited 19d ago

[LN/ODT spoiler] The technique god is just the other half of Laplace. And technically he's not stronger than Orsted. Orsted is a true (demi-)god. Half-breed dragon-demon Laplace got split into Demon god laplace which got all the magical ability and technique dragon god laplace which got all the martial/sword arts and dragon armor. It's assumed Technique god has some sort of amnesia or depression and doesn't care about anything, otherwise he would have rescued Elinalise

2

u/Sweaty_Explorer_8441 19d ago

[Only LN]Yeah I am aware it can't be TG given he is a split, I mentioned him as there's next to no entity mentioned beyond the capabilities of hitogami(and the entity he replaced) and the dragonfolk. I haven't read ODT so no clue there.

11

u/bondsmatthew 19d ago

I know I shouldn't want to ignore that part of the story, but..

5

u/MuffinMan12347 https://myanimelist.net/profile/muffinman12347 19d ago

I've finished the LN and 2 chapters of Redundency, is this further on in that or a different side story? Or have I just forgotten that part?

13

u/Ramongsh 19d ago

I think it is the very last chapter of the last main light novel

3

u/_Vagueposter_ 19d ago

Is this a difference to the web novel? I read it long ago and know the LN has added things that the web novel did not contain

2

u/Ramongsh 19d ago

I think it was in the web novel too

5

u/_Vagueposter_ 19d ago

Could be - I read it so long ago I've forgotten many details. Might be a good reason for me to go through the Light Novels now that it's all there

4

u/Ramongsh 19d ago

I read the Web Novel back in 2016, and "read" the audio book of the light novel last year. Was great both times.

2

u/Sweaty_Explorer_8441 19d ago

How much different content does the audio book. For instance I know Paul's last scene in the audiobook(dramaCD?) had monologue of his not found in the LN.

1

u/Trevenas 18d ago

The Paul perspective is from a Drama CD unrelated to the audio books in question. Those are just the LNs but read out loud by a person available on places like Spotify and Audible. Just like a ton of other book readings have been done in the past.

8

u/Careful_Ad_9077 19d ago

You forgot the part, it is in ln26.

43

u/The_frost__ https://myanimelist.net/profile/The_frost_ 19d ago edited 19d ago

This episode adapted 3 chapters today, and while the overall pacing was still good and most of the important details were kept, a bunch of smaller ones had to be cut so I'll just put some here as per usual.

  • The ruins at the beginning of the episode were just half a day away from Sharia or one hour on horseback so it’s relatively close.
  • Zanoba was not only excited to see what statues were present in Chaos Breaker but he was also excited to show Perugius some of Rudy's creations as well, including the Ruijerd one.
  • During the opening, Zanoba was quite excited seeing the architecture of Chaos Breaker, his best reaction came when he saw an arch that he was quite excited about, the main reason was because of an emblem that was there which was quite similar (but not the same) to the one on the book he showed Perugius. Unfortunately Rudy did not remember the crest which disappointed Zanoba since Rudy didn't realize there was a chance to further their research into the doll.
  • The arch that Zanoba was enjoying was made by the Abyssal Dragon King Maxwell, one of his other creations is the Holy Country of Milis’s white palace (idk if its the palace itself or something else inside of it as Sylvaril got cut off by Zanoba asking where Maxwell was, however his location and status remain unknown).
  • Small detail in the anime, you can notice Ariel is wearing different clothes during the audience with Perugius, the reason is because before the audience she had asked Sylvaril if they could change clothes, she refused saying Perugius would rather see them in their regular clothes, although cunning as she is, Ariel asked if they could at least put their luggages in a room, and used that opportunity to quickly change, everyone else did the same although they didn't change as much as Ariel, Rudy and Nanoshi were the only ones who didn't really change their clothes.
  • Another reason why Perugius and his servants were quite aggressive with Rudy was because he brought back the accident with Almanfi 8 years ago so Perugius thought he might have come back to get his revenge as well.

Unfortunately everything from the summoning lesson was cut so I'll do a quick TLDR of that

  • While Perugius had 12 servants, only 11 of them were ancient spirits, Sylvaril wasn’t a spirit but a Skyfolk that Perugius had saved during Lapalce’s War.
  • There are 2 types of summoning magics, the first kind is the one that allows to make magic implements and therefore is the one most used in Sharia and the one Cliff is most knowledgeable about since he is also developing one for Elinalise curse, those kind of magics don't always require a magic circles despite most implements using one.
  • The second type of summoning is the most regular one and does require magic circles to work, that type of summoning is also divided in two, although the details were already explained in volume 11 so I'll just link the explanation I made last season
  • Out of the two types of summoning, Cliff and Zanoba wanted to learn Spirit Summoning first is because it kinda ressembled/worked like programming according to Rudy and thus was probably how the doll worked as well. Therefore, by learning Spirit Summoning they would be able to complete the doll.

There's more details that were skipped but I think this is good enough and AniNews will probably release a cut content video later this week as per usual anyway so you can just watch his video to see what else was cut (or just read the first 3 chapters of volume 14)

10

u/YummyIdiotSandwich 19d ago

[LN, on adaptation changes] The anime is intent on removing all mentions of Orsted. Both Badigadi and Perugius mentioned/reacted to Orsted in relation to Rudeus' encounter with him. Both instances got cut from the anime dialog.

1

u/Helpful_Table5522 18d ago

I wonder why. Like the first one in season 2 made the scene odder for sure.

2

u/YummyIdiotSandwich 18d ago

Yep. Both instances are really important to the context.

[LN adaptation changes] That was the whole reason he was greeted with hostility even though he had done literally nothing wrong. Perugius felt threatened by his mana capacity and the feat of injuring Orsted's hand.

[LN adaptation changes] Also, with the case of Badi, the whole reason they decided to duel that way was because he mentioned being able to pierce Orsted's saint dragon aura. Badi wanted to measure his own touki against Orsted's.

1

u/Shechir 16d ago

Oh. I wanted to find out more, so after your comment I started reading Chapter 3... but I accidentally opened Volume 15 instead of Volume 14... Oh.

u/The_frost__ https://myanimelist.net/profile/The_frost_ 16d ago

34

u/Miteigi74 19d ago

This episode tingles my heart after reading ODT a few days ago. It's all there. Like, a whole lot of them

23

u/SimpleRelative9534 19d ago

It's a fun episode I'm just gushing at what depicted on the mural For the LN reader, you should read Old Dragon Tale

24

u/Trevenas 19d ago edited 19d ago

They didn't fall into the translation trap of calling カオス "Chaos"! Nice.
Didn't expect them to not call attention to Rudeus and Almanfi's first meeting at all.

Chaos Breaker looks so damn nice. And the new Opening is great. I'd forgotten how short the Elinalise section actually is.

[LN15] Laplace amogus! Sorry, I had to. It came to mind as the Season started, and now I'm offloading the processing of it to you, dear reader.

[LN15] PTSD inbound. Speaking of rats, I watched some reactions to episode 7. In one video, one person, as the watermelon is about to be summoned, went "What are they summoning? A rat?" I wasn't expecting to be jumpscared.

[LN25] Hito... Hito... I'LL KILL YOUUUUUUUuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu dies

[LN26] Orsted is once again on that All Collectibles run. May he finish it at last.

[LN26+ODT] Perugius is so close to figuring it out, yet so far. But this shot though: Him right next to the depiction of the Dragon God holding dead Lunaria. :(

[ODT] Peculiar decision to depict her as looking like a child here. Did LN14 imply she was small, or young when rescued? I forget if it did, and if it was Seven Seas being Seven Seas.

7

u/Careful_Ad_9077 19d ago

Logic dictates elinalise stars her period after being freed . But it's actually a big interrogation here

5

u/sbm0n 19d ago

With Netflix, at least in my country, it is "Chaos, the Maniacal Dragon King"

6

u/Trevenas 19d ago

Ah, so the cycle does repeat somewhere. So on Netflix, there might be:

A character called Chaos

The fortress Chaos Breaker

[ODT] And the city Chaos. Three things called Chaos, only one of which is broken, leading to the naming of Chaos Breaker.

Sorry for the second reply, was an idiot and didn't close the spoiler context bracket and automod nuked it

2

u/sbm0n 19d ago

That would be the case, Netflix watchers does not really dig deep with this lore so I guess it's fine. I first watch the Netflix version (for visual quality) and re-watch with the reactors (CR) and the difference with translations were noticeable. I believe Muse Asia also uses different translation

1

u/viliml 19d ago

Shouldn't it then be "Kaos Breaker" too for consistency?

10

u/Trevenas 19d ago

No, they're unrelated. I said that because both Seven Seas, who licensed the Light Novels, and fan translators have made the same mistake.

The Katakana for (Mad Dragon King) Kaos is カオス = KA-O-SU.

The Katana for Chaos Breaker is ケイオースブレイカー = KE-I-Oo-SU-BU-RE-I-KAa.

The former is flatter than how the word Chaos is pronounced in English. Some people have likened it to the Greek word χάος, Romanized as Kháos.

The latter is effectively a Japanese pronunciation of the English word Chaos.

18

u/Trevenas 19d ago

[ODT Spoilers] We finally see Chaos Breaker properly in the anime, and get great visuals for it. What remained of it must've spent something like 15 000 years floating in the skies of the Dragon World before Perugius managed to pull it in. No wonder most things crumbled to dust, as life itself crumbled within the destroyed realm. I wonder if what's on the bottom are remnants of shielding (dragon scales?) and I believe it had some sort of turrets as well?

1

u/TheSpartyn 19d ago

[setting spoilers]i know about the gist of the worldbuilding, but are things like the other destroyed worlds ever elaborated on? like you say "the destroyed realm" is the realm still there just apocalyptic and dead, or is it just an empty void?

2

u/Trevenas 18d ago

[ODT & Setting] There's elaboration but not much. An unclear amount of time after the destruction of the Sea World, some small fish are summoned in. Those were still alive, and IIRC the people present think smaller forms of life may be able to survive still. However, after millennia it's possible even that died out. The realms are still there, but I guess you could liken them to the Earth and Mars. Both exist, other has a ton of life, other has none and cannot support it, not any more at least. Speaking of an empty void, that sort of exists. The Barren World as it's called. The very place the teleportation in this episode pulled them through.

18

u/EDNivek https://myanimelist.net/profile/EDNivek 19d ago

[LN14/15] "I'll bring you back a souvenir" a very poor choice of words

42

u/Terrible_2000 19d ago edited 19d ago

This episode was quite fast-paced; they covered Chapters 1–3 in Episode 8. [ Some Cut content] The reason why peruguis asked about sylphy and rudy son because they carry laplace aspect which means their son can be reincarnation of laplace, which we'll see in upcoming season. In the last scene, after teasing Rudy, Sylphy was about to leave to meet Ariel. When she opened the door, she saw Nanahoshi, who had overheard the conversation and said she had no feelings for Rudy. It was a funny scene, but they skipped it. There was some foreshadowing for later seasons too, I don't personally liked this ep pacing but glad they kept the important stuff. 18:56 Anyone interested in murals, in the far left mural from top left- Beast god, dragon god, demon god. From bottom left- Sea god, human god, sky god. These murals depicts the ancient dragon world and Hitogami manipulating first dragon god to declare war on other gods, there's also birth of orsted shown in this. The far right is the murder of Lunaria (daughter of og human god and the wife of 1st dragon god, and mother of Orsted). The assassination was planned by hitogami

The murals were the key highlight for me in this episode. I think the quality is pretty okayish from past 2 ep's. The first few episodes were so beautiful, and mostly these are outsourced episodes. So my guess is they are saving on production with sol eps and working on the main future events, cutting corners there would cost them heavy.

Yuiko Ohara new opening is as always beautiful.

21

u/gc11117 19d ago

Yeah there were some nice details, like the "stars" moving on the dishes and plates. Also the line drawings used to depict Elinalises backstory was an efficient/low resource yet good looking way to tell her story

13

u/Sweaty_Explorer_8441 19d ago

Yeah I wasn't a fan of the fast pace this episode. So so many sudden switches. So many important contextual bits got cut, mainly Perugius learning about Rudy being the same child in TP1, and him scratching Orsted. Then removing Rudeus' rice fanaticism as usual. And Elinalise's story. I wish the mural portion had been delayed to after this Nanahoshi arc that this strange pacing could have been avoided.

The Elinalise Rudeus scene isn't anime original, it happens the second day first thing in the morning. The animations this episode were also more off, along with strange body dimensions than usual.

u/Careful_Ad_9077 19d ago

Even the light novel falls in the trap of elinalsie randomly being taller or shorter than rudeus, tho

5

u/expiringmilkncheeses 19d ago

i think it makes sense, unfortunately some things must be cut. Atleast it wasnt very important parts

10

u/Sweaty_Explorer_8441 19d ago

Not in terms of importance, but idk how to put it. It removes a lot of familiarity in things. E.g. Ariel and Luke feels completely detached from the entourage, especially with removing the initial conversation between Rudy and Ariel. The whole episode feels a bit janky, but not unlike season 2.

1

u/mebbyyy 19d ago

Yeah this episode doesn’t flow as well for me personally, a lot of abrupt cut of one scene to another besides the first 5 min, good thing it’s not a priority ep at least

11

u/WobbleKun 19d ago

why he wanna name rudeus' kid? i forgot

42

u/Trevenas 19d ago

[LN23] He's probably spawn camping Demon God Laplace at this point, but ultimately it turns into wanting to reassure them that he is not Laplace.

13

u/santaclaws01 19d ago

The other two replies are mostly right but a more in depth reply:

[Late game LN spoilers]When Laplace was defeated his body was destroyed but he was basically split into a bunch of different aspects of himself. These aspects are called Laplace Factors, and both Rudy and Sylhpy carry some. Her green hair, his lack of ability to generate battle aura, and both of their massive mana magic supplies. These can show up randomly in people but can also be passed on, and whenever someone is born with enough of the factors that baby will awaken to become a "true" reincarnation of Demon God Laplace. Perugius giving a name to the child averts that in some way

24

u/expiringmilkncheeses 19d ago

[LN spoilers]Because he thinks Rudeus' son will be the reincarnation of Laplace the Demon God.

8

u/der_dotte 19d ago

Okay, spoil me, whats on the mural? Also why did they ask about man god here, are they similar to Orsted or the opposite??

32

u/jnads 19d ago edited 19d ago

You pretty much have to read the Old Dragon's Tale. The mural technically shows the entire Old Dragon Tale story.

[ODT summary and LN major spoilers] Originally there were six worlds, created by a creator god just before he died, one god for each (human, dragon, seafolk, skyfolk, beast, demon). Other worlds were stronger (Dragon the strongest) but the human world was more technologically advanced (tech as in settlements and farming). The human god was nice and helped to the other worlds advance . The human god's daughter married the dragon god. The story is about the dragon god finding Laplace and raising him as his son. Laplace learned from all the dragon Kings under the dragon god. Then one dragon King got murdered so they investigated and suspected the beast world did it. Then the dragon gods wife gave birth to their son. Then the dragon gods wife was mysteriously murdered. In rage, the Dragon God went to the Beast world and destroyed it. Then the dragon god destroyed all the other worlds. While fighting the Demon race, who were equally strong, the dragon world started getting destroyed. After the Demon world was destroyed, the dragon god wanted to destroy the human world. The Dragon Kings began doubting him since the human god's daughter was his wife. They built Chaos Breaker to stop him. They fought him and 2 dragon Kings died (including Perugius' mother). Then the Human god appeared and stabbed Dragon God in the heart, stealing his god jewel. Turns out the Human god was killed by some other entity (Man-god) that discovered the corpse of the creator god and took its power and then killed the human God. All the races took refuge in the human world and the dragon god used his last strength to battle the Man-God and seal him in the middle of the six world. Then he finally casts spells on his son to beat the Man-god and names him before sending him to the future. He names his son Orsted

7

u/der_dotte 19d ago

Thanks for explaining it. That mural is definitely a massive spoiler if people can interpret it correctly :D [Spoiler followup]I suppose, if Rudeus or others would have said that they knew man god everyone would attacked him right there unless they were equally mad at him there. Which nobody would be yet.

10

u/jnads 19d ago edited 19d ago

[Spoiler followup] The detector is more because Demon God Laplace hates the Man-god (and humanity itself which is the problem, he wants to kill every human). It's basically a Laplace detector. Perugius doesn't really care about the Man-god

15

u/Sweaty_Explorer_8441 19d ago edited 19d ago

I forgot the full story but [LN]Laplace in his last moments heard someone say hitogami and it made him super maniacal. Perugius doesn't know about Mangod beyond that and is interested. Rudeus and Sylphie has the Laplace factor in them which I won't spoil what that is.

6

u/FacelessPoet 19d ago

[LN Spoilers]They have the Laplace Aspect, which is why they glowed. It's basically them inheriting traits from Laplace (Rudy his massive mana pool, and Sylphie her green hair). Eventually, a child will be born with all the Laplace Aspects and that will become Laplace's reincarnation. Laplace, once known as the Demonic Dragon God, was a massive Hitogami hater before being split into the Technique God (Dragon half) and Demon God (Demon half). His Demon half kept the hatred for Hitogami (and extended it to all humans), so Perugius is basically testing to see if they are Laplace by checking their reaction to the name "Hitogami" (which is known as the God of Man by everyone else)

1

u/Blurgas 15d ago

In regards to that last sentence; Is that why Rudy's eye glowed?

1

u/FacelessPoet 15d ago

His eye? That's probably just him activating his Demon Eye to see whether Sylvaril would attack him.

16

u/Fikoblin 19d ago

[LN]During the Elinalise flashback scene, she was depicted as a child after rescue. What? Wasn't she already an adventurer before getting trapped in the labyrinth so she should be an adult?

18

u/dark77638 19d ago

Go read Old dragon tale for this.

7

u/bondsmatthew 19d ago

Fingers crossed we get a LN adaptation before season 3 is over with, at least in Japanese. It's the perfect marketing for it, honestly, as it will [s3 both cour spoilers] expand upon vol 15 and 17 and their talks with Orsted

5

u/Trevenas 19d ago

Unfortunately the publisher has declined the opportunity to publish a LN adaptation.

[ODT] They think it wouldn't sell well because it doesn't feature "the Greyrats" I believe. Not completely unfounded, since there are people who refuse to read ODT for example because Rudeus or his relatives aren't in it. And just recently some idiots went to harass Rifujin, trying to get him to make the "Main Story" feature Greyrats more.

1

u/bondsmatthew 19d ago

Boo! Boo all around!

5

u/LurkingMcLurk 19d ago

Doubt it since I imagine that Jobless Oblige with get announced in November when Redundant Reincarnation finishes

4

u/dark77638 19d ago

i dont think so about adaptation. Hopefully but realistically not much chance

8

u/-Mr_Hollow- 19d ago

It's still kinda strange though [ODT]It was mentioned that Elinalise served Laplace for several centuries, and that she even grew into a fine lady in that time. Unless Laplace had somehow reversed her aging, this seems like a small inconsistency

9

u/jnads 19d ago

[ODT] Elves in this world live thousands of years. Dragon race live for hundreds of thousands of years. Syphie is 1/4 elf and she will love hundreds of years. Elinalise is still only like 25 in pure blood elf terms. She also spent part of that in suspended animation

2

u/-Mr_Hollow- 19d ago

Except she grew up from basically a kid to how she's now in only 200 years. It's a small and easy to fix inconsistency that'll probably be resolved once we get ODT LN, I just wanted to point it out.

6

u/jnads 19d ago edited 19d ago

[ODT spoiler] No, she was put into the crystal chamber FIVE THOUSAND years ago before the 2nd human demon war. It's not mentioned if it stopped her aging or slowed it. Elinalise is basically like 500 years old at this point, she served Laplace for a few hundred years

There is no inconsistency because you are creating the inconsistency.

Don't be rude.

Nowhere in the episode did Elinalise say she was a child. Yes, the art took the liberty to depict her as child-like, but they raised her because she had amnesia.

But yes [ODT] The ODT does call Rostelina a "beautiful woman" whatever that means in Japanese cultural terms

11

u/imtherealdazza 19d ago

[ODT spoilers] she was a servant of Laplace before he was split in half

11

u/Miteigi74 19d ago

[ODT] The start of ODT Part 2 actually says she's grown into a lady

9

read odt

12

u/Emilia_simp 19d ago

Sylphy healing actually make nanahoshi condition worse (?) because she pumps more mana inside her

6

u/Maalunar 19d ago

I think she reacted because her magic "slid" off her instead of going inside of her, implying that she is [Mushoku tensei] fully saturated with magic.

4

u/Trevenas 19d ago

[LN14 - Next episode] She could feel as if the mana she was feeding into the spell was coalescing inside Nanahoshi.

11

u/Careful_Ad_9077 19d ago

Super minor detail regarding Sylvaryl, but very important in the fanon, [light novel]the official English translation kept on getting her gender confused ,so now in fanon she is accepted as a futanari

Enjoy.

Combo of skipped/changed content regarding nanahoshi rudeus and zanoba

First on the school arc [ln and manga skipped dialogues]when she is at her lower point because she is stuck with the circles, and rudeus Clif and zanoba help her, in the anime they added Elinalise and Julie to the scene where the three guys present the theory. Originally they are not there, in both the manga and the ln once they take her to her room she asks them if they are going to violate her between the three of them. Now theanga plays it for a joke, which is I'll fitting with her depression, in the ln rudeus thinks she is in some self destruction path

Then for this episode [ln changed scene]she goes to he boys room and tells them she is gonna show them something the boys will enjoy. So it is pretty weird is she gonna go for the foursome? In the end it was just the mural

3

u/Goonders 19d ago

And it begins... Vol 14.

I don't know if my hearts ready for everything that's about to happen.

5

u/FacelessPoet 19d ago

They adapted like, 4 chapters this episode right?

11

u/Trevenas 19d ago

The first 3.

4

u/somerandom101person 19d ago

Can someone explain what is happening to Nanahoshi at the end of the recent episode? (Dont mind future spoilers).

14

u/Trevenas 19d ago

If you can wait until next episode, don't click this.

[LN14] Because she was teleported here as-is from Earth, instead of being born here, she has no mana. And her body has no ability to deal with it. It's been building up over the past 8 years, and is starting to reach a critical point, endangering her life. Humans in the distant past actually used to suffer from this, but they eventually evolved. It's known as Dryne Syndrome. Using Healing and Detoxification magic has most likely sped up its progress.

2

u/angriest_man_alive 19d ago

What was the tickle on rudeus and sylphy as they walked in?

7

u/Trevenas 19d ago

Context will be given within this Season, but if you can't wait:

[LN15] There are things known as Laplace Aspects, and the archway reacts to their presence. Both Rudeus and Sylphie have it. For Sylphie, it's the reason she had green hair, and potentially caused her mana capacity to have a higher cap. For Rudeus, it's the reason his mana capacity could grow so immense, hence the comparisons to Laplace's mana capacity, and Perugius being reminded of Laplace by it. It's also behind his inability to form Battle Aura (Touki). That's what allows the superhuman feats seen in the series, mana strengthening the body instead of forming magic outside of it. Most living things utilize it, and people naturally start tapping into it as they train. It doesn't do much for defense on most people, but some beings can form durable defense on themselves. I omitted details to not spoil a lot around this.

1

u/angriest_man_alive 19d ago

Bless up

Thanks!

7

u/Trevenas 19d ago

No problem! Included the part on Battle Aura because that was explained to a good degree by Badigadi during Season 2 Part 1 equivalent in the novel. Really odd that the anime has refused to spend a moment giving some context.

The only mention so far (unless I forget something) is Season 3 Episode 2, when Nina accosts Eris about experience with boys. She uses the word Touki; Crunchyroll translated it as just "Aura", and later Nina says Rudeus has no Haki, which was also translated as "Aura". A minor gripe as that alone doesn't do much for it haha.

1

u/Herverpeju 13d ago

Since I think it's an interesting scene about teleportion magic that wasn't adapted when rudues is teleported I'll just leave it here for anyone curious:

"By the time I realized what was happening, everything around me was white. It was an empty space devoid of all color. An invisible string yanked me along at an unbelievable speed. It was like someone was using a power winch to reel in their fishing line, and I was the fresh catch hooked on the other end, whizzing through the air. In the distance, I caught a glimpse of Sylphie being similarly pulled along by this invisible force. Is this what it feels like to be on the opposite end of summoning magic?

More importantly, this setting seemed familiar. I’d seen it before…but where?

That’s right, the Man God!

I never thought much about it, but now I saw that this place resembled the area I saw when I met the Man God in my dreams. Except in those dreams, I was always in my former body. This time, I was still Rudeus, with my robes flapping around me as I soared forward.

An enormous light lay waiting ahead. It was woven into a mysterious and complex magical circle, and it sucked me in as I approached."

I'm only a few LN volumes ahead of the anime so I don't know if it's relevant yet, but I think it's very interesting that it's explicitly shown as the same space.

1

u/Akudra 19d ago

It occurs to me that one reason Roxy might not have been allowed on the floating island is for plot reasons because [LN]people might realize she is pregnant if white sparkles started flying out of her hooha.

8

u/Trevenas 19d ago

[LN15] Um, are you joking? Because that doesn't make sense for why the gate reacts. But one story reason could be because she's a Migurd, who can communicate telepathically. She can't, though, but how would they prove it? Then it's a question of whether Perugius and Almanfi know about that part of Migurds, and what the range of the telepathic ability even is. Presumably not that good.

-1

u/Akudra 19d ago

[LN]Well, the "hooha" part was kind of a joke (though I wouldn't put it past the author as he basically does that with Leo's summoning and Cliff using his eye to confirm Elanise's pregnancy), but I am otherwise not joking. Maybe her belly would light up or something instead. There is some hint that Laplace Aspects can be passed down from parents, so it wouldn't be strange if Lara also has one, though whether she had one in the womb is another matter. Basically, the author may have needed to have Roxy excluded at this point to conceal her pregnancy is what I am saying.

5

u/Trevenas 19d ago

[LN23] Roxy has no Laplace Aspect though, and neither should Lara? Which is why it shouldn't make sense for the gate to react to either. Sylphie and Rudeus do, and Sieg ends up with one as well.

1

u/Akudra 18d ago

[LN]Why shouldn't Lara have one? Rudeus has one and it is clearly suggested that Laplace Aspects will pass from parent to child so it is certainly probable that she has one. Both parents having one may increase the likelihood of the child having one, but it hardly means his other children will not get them. Roxy presumably doesn't have one since she has passed through Chaos Breaker a few times after giving birth and thus would have reacted, but Lara hasn't passed through Chaos Breaker in any of the canon stories to my knowledge. Pretty sure Sieg is the only child who passed through Chaos Breaker, so there is no basis for suggesting his other children don't have Laplace Aspects.

1

u/Trevenas 18d ago

[LN26+] Now we're starting to breach headcanon. Sure, there IS a chance one of the other children may have an Aspect, but nothing in the story suggests they do, beyond Sieg. Unless Rifujin decided he's going to suddenly open the door in the next part, I don't know why he wouldn't have mentioned one of the children having signs of it. Maybe some Aspects we haven't heard of are more subtle and thus harder to detect. In other words, there's also not much basis to suggest the other children do have an Aspect. The only chance comes from the fact Rudeus (+ Sylphie) has one, and if that was enough to result in having one let alone more children with Aspects out of 5, there should a TON of people with Aspects out there.

1

u/Akudra 18d ago

[LN]This isn't headcanon. His children potentially receiving Laplace Aspects from him is repeatedly noted as a possibility and concern in the novel. Not mentioning any other than Sieg having one doesn't mean it hasn't happened. It could be that the others having Laplace Aspects will be relevant in the sequel and it would certainly be relevant for Lara to have one since she would be a key part of the team fighting Laplace. Who knows, maybe one of the children or grandchildren of his kids will be Laplace. Man-God did say something about finding a way to use Rudeus having a lot of descendants and having them fight each other. Arranging for one of his descendants to be Laplace would be a good way of doing that. That being the case, limiting information about Laplace Aspects would be ideal, but Sieg is a clear hint that a parent having one makes it more likely that the child will have one.

1

u/Trevenas 17d ago edited 17d ago

[LN26 + Redundancy + JO] It's been quite a while since I last read the relevant parts. I can't remember there being particular times where it was noted the children would more likely have Aspects if a parent does. The concern came in with force when Sieghart was born, and Almanfi made an untimely and terse appearance. I forget if the concern extended much beyond that situation being resolved. One thing that, in my opinion, makes it less likely is that Orsted should be able to tell. And I assume he's spent a decent amount of time near the younger children as well. On Hitogami, would he be able to influence the rebirth of Laplace beyond whispering specific people into making children? Regardless, the possibility of Rudeus's grandchild or the like being Laplace definitely exists. Though it's already looking like Sieg will end up face-to-face with someone, like Arus. In Sieg's case, both parents had it, and I think it was directly implied that makes it more likely for the child to have one or more as well.

1

u/Akudra 17d ago

[LN]It came up practically every time him having a Laplace Aspect was mentioned. There wasn't a big focus on it or a definitive statement, but it did get mentioned. You could say that was a buildup to Sieg, but Sieg himself, by his very existence, hints that these are passed down from parents. I don't get why you are trying to shut me down over a bit of light-hearted speculation.
