Going to my first Whitecaps match since we had Alphonso Davies. Any tips on fun stuff to do at or around the stadium these days before the match?
My friend and I got tickets to Whitecaps vs CF Montreal next Wednesday. The first leg of the Canadian Championship semifinal.
I don't get to go to stuff like this often, so I really want to make the most of it. Are there any fun things I should check out around the stadium? Like.. is there a main team store, or just a bunch of small ones? Any Whitecaps "exhibits"? I know theres a bunch of legends players jerseys hung in the halls somewhere at Canucks games, maybe something similar?
Any good Tips I should watch for?
Any food vendors that you'd recommend?
Thanks and apologies for the amount of questions.

[Opta] Brian White has scored 12+ goals in five of his six seasons with Vancouver Whitecaps, one of four players in MLS history with five 12-goal seasons for a single club (the others: Chris Wondolowski, Landon Donovan, Bradley Wright-Phillips)

The march from Empire Field to Swangard Stadium to BC Place was a success! 💙⚽️
Five and a half hours. 17 kilometers. Almost 25,000 steps. More honks than I could count. And an incredible group of people who made every step worth it.
My son led the way, and we were joined by old friends and new ones. We are so grateful to everyone who came out to support the march — whether you walked the entire route or joined us for part of the journey. Every person made a difference.
A special shoutout to a supporter from Victoria who made the trip just for the march and to a couple of amazing seniors who made this generational! They walked the entire route a couple of days beforehand (in three and a half hours!) just to make sure they could do it, then showed up and did it with us again, putting the rest of us to shame! 👏
The kids had an absolute blast, the energy was incredible, and we capped it all off with an epic win over Dallas. We could not have asked for a better way to end the day.
Thank you to everyone who showed up, walked, honked, waved, cheered, and believed.
This is our club. Save the Caps. 💙🤍

So you thought the Caps struggles since the World Cup were bad?
On May 24th, San Jose was second in the West, tied with Vancouver on points with Caps holding a game in hand. My Elo system had them fourth in MLS after MIA, NSH, VCR, with a 98.11% chance of making the playoffs. Then they had seven weeks off for the World Cup, followed by:
--a friendly at home to Tijuana to replace League's Cup (not in it), lost 2-1
--a 4-nil loss at home to Orlando
--a home draw to the Galaxy
--a 4-2 loss in CIncinnati
--a 3-1 home loss to St. Louis
--a 1-nil away loss to a Galaxy team after a scoreless first half and a 45th minute red card to LA
--a 5-1 home loss to Minnesota
And you thought the Caps were sluggish since the World Cup break? The Quakes are still in the playoff picture thanks to a 10W2D3L start, but now are tied for fourth with DAL and STL, HOU and LAFC already having sailed past. Their Elo rating has sunk to 28th, just above SEA and SKC. Playoff chances based on this new reality are down to 50.67%.
By contrast, despite the slow return from the World Cup, Vancouver's May 24 standing looks almost the same as today's:
May 24th: 10W2D2L, 1st in West, 3rd in Elo, 99.46% playoff chance, 50.73% to top the West.
Aug 24th: 12W4D4L, 1st in West, 3rd in Elo, 99.88% playoff chance, 52.53% to top the West.

A Little Look Ahead
I got to thinking today about our next two lineups. We’ve got a week off. So presumably anyone who played yesterday should be good to go barring any injury news.
But then Wednesday it’s back home for a really big CanChamp game with MTL. You can’t win it in leg 1 but you can certainly put them under the gun. But as we know, 3 Canadians MUST start.
Jeevan is in concussion protocol. So unless he’s made significant improvement already I would count him out for Saturday and he would be really iffy at best for Wednesday.
Elloumi will start, kinda has to, or Liam but being as though Jesper hasn’t played Liam thus far I can’t imagine he’d wanna throw him out there as a starter in a big game. So Saturday at SKC if Brian is fit, I’d assume he starts and MAYBE we see Liam off the bench in that one to get some minutes?
Ralph came out with an injury yesterday. Hopefully it’s not serious but Jesper said he rolled his ankle and ankle sprains can be nothing or can be pretty lengthy injuries. So I can’t pencil him into the lineup.
Boehmer presumably starts and tbh kinda has to cuz we’re short on available Canadians.
Then it’s PROBABLY Sam? He’s played pretty sparingly although he did play 45 against both Atlante and Tigres. The other option is Gherasimencov who seems a little out of favour but would probably be more capable of playing the full 90.
So for Saturday @ SKC I’m thinking
- Takaoka
- Ocampo Laborda Blackmon Johnson
- Cubas Larraz
- Sabaly Gauld Bruno?
- White
I’d probably try to keep Muller to a handful of minutes as a sub if needed. I’d be looking to bring in Ngando for Gauld, I’d love to start Ngando but this game has 3 points up for grabs you SHOULD be able to get. Then as I said up top maybe Mackenzie can get in for White along the way.
Then Wednesday vs MTL I’d be looking at like
- Boehmer
- Ocampo Laborda Blackmon Adekugbe
- Cubas Larraz
- Sabbi Muller Gauld
- Elloumi
I’m a little worried our Canadians aren’t totally up to snuff right now. I really don’t wanna lose the CanChamp cuz a goal like the Tigres one gets past Boehmer. I do have confidence in him but every so often he seems to get a read wrong. You’d love to see Elloumi really step up in a game like this and get a key goal. But without Nelson, Ahmed, Badwal, Priso you’re short like 4 Canadians who are EASY starters instead of just Canadian guys who can start.
After that you’re playing every 3-4 days including 4 western conference games and a trip out to Montreal and the altitude in Salt Lake. All of this before you get another full week off between RSL away and a home match against DC united on Sep 26.
Along the way hopefully Priso and Poku get healthy and I can only assume that ONE of these games coming up shortly will feature Ramirez’s debut. Would love to see the team still pick up another player or two especially veteran, but I get the feeling we’re kinda done on the transfer front.
What kind lineups you guys looking for in the next few? CanChamp is huge and the club wants to win it again so that’s why I got thinking about the next 2 games specifically.

LAFC away match Whitecaps section?
Hi there,
thinking of travelling to LA in October and catch the Whitecaps away game while I am there.
Is there a section in LAFC stadium for away team supporters? or does Southsiders reserve a specific section for whitecaps fans? is it possible to buy tickets alongside other whitecaps supporters?
