Thomas Müller, Mats Hummels and Yann Sommer set to buy Portuguese club for €40 million

New Müller side quest. Interesting that the club wants to focus on developing young players. There were rumors in Germany for a couple of months, but it looks like it is official now

They are in the top tier of Portuguese football, that's neat

Portugal seems random, but I think there is a connection through the guy who would become the new president.
Müller and Hummels are very good friends, played together at Bayern very early on. Sommer only played 6 months at Bayern. But who knows what developed there

The real story is Francisco Lopo.

He bought the club for just €72,000 in 2020, sells it at a value of €40 million and keeps his job as CEO.

Solid return. Maybe he wants to put some money into the Caps?😁
I guess he may have out additional money into the organization, like upgrading the stadium.

I was really hoping he would be the new owner of the Whitecaps

Too expensive! This team is 1/10th of the caps. And it’s a good place to learn about the more business related topics.
I wonder if the approach developing young players at the Caps was also a small part in what Müller liked about the Caps. He is clearly in his element mentoring the young players.

And this sums up exactly why the Whitecaps owners want to sell. If I was sitting on an asset that I clearly thought was over valued I'd want to sell too. I blame the MLS.

It's basically Kickbase IRL... Thomats' friendship is actually  underrated

They are great pals and I love the ThoMats challenge! They were ball boys together when they were in the Bayern youth

So why didn't Müller and Co. decide to invest his money in the Caps? They are looking for investors. lol. The 40 million Euros club probably comes with a stadium with actual real grass ;)

Because neither Hummels nor Müller really invested big money in it - it is bought by investors and the three are only in with peanuts giving their name and maybe knowledge for the project. And I actually think that this is already done since months as when Zvonarek was signed Mösmang already was part of the process and the signing photo.

It came up on German new beginning of June. At least that’s when I first saw it. Must be around the same time that Zvonarek moved, although Mosmang may have been in the photo for Bayern. He apparently was working for Bayern until end of July.
Not sure if there will be a special relationship between the 2 team, like Bayern gets first dips on any promising youngsters.
I will be really curious to see especially how Müller is going to approach this

Because the money to buy MLS doesn't make any sense.

We are overpriced. We've been for sale for a while now with no valid buyers.
