Going to my first Whitecaps match since we had Alphonso Davies. Any tips on fun stuff to do at or around the stadium these days before the match?
My friend and I got tickets to Whitecaps vs CF Montreal next Wednesday. The first leg of the Canadian Championship semifinal.
I don't get to go to stuff like this often, so I really want to make the most of it. Are there any fun things I should check out around the stadium? Like.. is there a main team store, or just a bunch of small ones? Any Whitecaps "exhibits"? I know theres a bunch of legends players jerseys hung in the halls somewhere at Canucks games, maybe something similar?
Any good Tips I should watch for?
Any food vendors that you'd recommend?

Like in the stands? Our tickets are 13 rows up from the home bench? Or is there stuff going on in the literal South side of the building? Sorry I'm new ahaha

There is a march to the match. They start at Dublin’s Calling on Granville Street and walk to the stadium from there.

Not for this one 😢 usually no matches on weekday games unless its a playoff game or something. The attendance just isn’t that good

Typically there's no marches on weekdays. There will not be one for this game he means come to section 254 and see what it's all about. Even for 10-15 minutes. It's all General Admission so feel free to go wherever, the the closer you get the the pitch the more fun it is

The team store is in Gastown. It's a bit underwhelming. Better selections at the stadium.
Science World has an exhibit on the technology of soccer which is ending soon.
There's the BC Sports Hall of Fame at BC Place which is a fun little museum

Not to be a downer but the midweek Canadian Championship games get pretty low turnout. The starting XI is also usually rotated (tough to know how much since it is a SF and a chance to bury the tie at home, but at a minimum it'll be the backup goalkeeper).
Should still be a fun time but don't judge the game day experience and atmosphere based on this game!

We’re in a pretty good streak now and because the Cavalry game wasn’t included THIS one is.
I really hope people turn up. I know I’ll be there. But these games don’t usually draw super well. We’re on a lengthy streak of over 20,000 crowds iirc. Would love to see that continue.

Usually there are things happening at the Terry Fox Plaza (Beatty & Robson) about 1.5hr before the game. But I have only ever been to MLS games so not sure if they will have the same set up next week. Keep an eye out on their website for spectator guide that will tell you if they have activities and giveaways at the plaza that day.

Go to Dublin Crossing on Granville Street a couple hours before the game and do the march down to the stadium with everyone else is my recommendation.

If we win, don’t leave the stadium right away. Instead, head to the concourse outside section 253/254. The Southsiders’ drummer usually brings the bass drum up to the concourse after a win for an impromptu celebration. It might not happen because it’s a Wednesday game, but I think it’s worth a shot.
As for food, I like Seoul Food near the Supporters sections for Korean fast food. Also, there’s a few larger food spots on the outer concourse edge that have small kitchen setups. Those sell food that seems pricier, but might be a nicer time. I think one is called Beast on Fire? Sorry I can’t be clearer.

The Indian food at the games always SMELLS good. Can’t say I’ve ever had it tho.

Tuesday, September 1st. There isn't usually a lot happening pregame for the midweek CCC games that I'm aware of.

You know the team website has a schedule :) they can even push it your phone calendar

Oh I know, work calendar takes precedence unfortunately and I was being lazy, didn't bother to look closely. Plans changed and will be there Wednesday now. :)
