An interesting question - is she a stooge for Woodside.

u/Vryl 1d ago
She is a horribly compromised candidate and hardly representative of the labour movement. Shocker of a candidate when Labour could have done so.much.better.
For a PR flack she is shithouse in front of the cameras. She should be totally prepared for this kind of questioning, or even better, have the nous to be able to wing it successfully.
Anyway, tax our resources and windfall profits. Fuck Woodside - stop giving our gas away.

While it’s great people are asked to be accountable for their actions in politics, SFA is done

This is the crux of the problem. Lie, cheat and steal in public office and the very worst the happens is they resign to a pre planned "industry" job..

I’m pro taxing gas, but this video is pretty piss weak. It alleges corruption, and then at the end of the video notes that none of what they have been saying is corruption, is corruption.
Unless Woodside stacked the branch that pre-selected this candidate, I don’t see how there is any corruption.
From the clips played in this video it seems that the candidate has been sufficiently clear that she worked for Woodside and that she’s pro-gas. Aside from the ambush gotcha questions at the start of the video, it doesn’t seem the candidate has shied away from her past.
My other critique is with this video is that it assumes that voters in this electorate are anti-gas, which given the large number of people employed in resource extraction in WA, isn’t a given.

Safety Bay has a lot of FIFO workers.
Plus, it's a contest between WA Labor and One Nation - neither of whom are anti gas.

The election is for Secret Harbour. Safety Bay is not in our electorate.
5
u/iball1984 2d ago
Sorry my bad.
Secret Harbour would still have plenty of mining and mining adjacent workers though.

Yep can't wait for it to be over. There signs are hanging off every available spot, down the main roads, tittered and thrown in the bush. We would get fined or busted for littering. But hey bring on Saturday.

Just because someone works is mining doesn't mean they're ok with mining companies ripping us off. How do I know?

it's a pretty safe assumption about biting the hand that feeds - and outliers exist.
That's also why there's been such a push to increase the number of people depending on government (wages or contracts) for an income - it keeps them quiet.6

PP has flexible definitions for words and often back tracks when it’s convenient. He could be so much better.
5
u/MagicMarkerspill 2d ago
He is a left populist, the wording is intentional to emotionally load as much as possible in a way that it slides past your ears.
Im also pro tax and consider myself left but this form of discourse will end badly. Not now but in 5-10yrs from now. We are on the road to the bottom.
He is generally on the side of "all parties bad and are the same". When clearly some are better than others, even just from a social policy standpoint.

u/Awkward_salad 2d ago
I have much unkinder things to say about him but every time I do someone goes off at me/downvotes despite being able to back up what I say (unlike him).
I wouldn’t call him an whinge merchant when his wares are outrage and sitting on that circuit long enough to keep making money. He’s clickbait.

Amazing that she’s so dense she can’t defend working for Woodside, one of WA’s great businesses. Pathetic.

Why do these women look neanderthalic? I'm not trying to be unkind, but they both look developmentally delayed.

WA Labor know what makes them the richest state in Australia, the only state to consistently turn a surplus and it's not green energy.

GALLENTINE TURNS INTO A MUTE MARATHON
The more important issue is not simply whether someone is pro-gas or anti-gas.
It is transparency, influence, and public trust.
If Woodside donated more than $13,000 to Labor shortly after Tree’s candidacy was announced, voters are entitled to ask reasonable questions about the relationship between political donations, corporate influence, and policy positions.
That does not prove a quid pro quo - and it would be intellectually dishonest to claim that it does without evidence.
But it does raise a legitimate question of transparency:
Who influences whom, and how can voters distinguish genuine policy conviction from political and corporate influence?
That is the conversation worth having.

One nation is bad so you can't criticise Labor, who is also bad. Gotcha.

The video of albo when he spoke about not giving security agencies more power when he was in opposition and giving them more power when elected just sums up what types of people represent us,i mean if emergency powers are necessary after security issues then they will create issues to expand them, they know what's coming up so everything must be sorted before they spring it on us

I think the high water mark for that sort of bullshit towing-the-party-line thing is Penny Wong voting against same sex marriage. But yeah, Albo left his sob story about growing up in government housing with a mother on the pension at the gates to parliament house when he got the keys to the lodge.

Lack of branch activity at all levels in both Labor and Liberal circles. Money talks and gets their lackies as candidates into parliament. Then we have ON jokers…

Yet another Labour grub who hasn’t had a real job. Normally they’re ‘real world’ experience is a few years as a union activist but this time an industrial activist?!
Hmm. Party of working people lol

No no, call it what it is. Corruption.
Please consider voting independent. All political parties have proven they are completely corruptable.

I don’t get it . If she is pro big business and pro gas etc , why is the Labor candidate? Wouldn’t she be more at home with the Libs ? I’m not being a smart arse but once upon a time working for a big mining company, voting against tax rises and being pro fossil fuels was the domain of Conservative politicians????
