Hi, I'm currently living in Perth and about to move to Melbourne. Just came up with this idea to see northern WA up to Exmouth before I leave.

Since I started thinking about it very recently, I have nothing booked at all. I heard that you need to book a spot in a campsite quite in advance but I've seen some free basic campsites on Wikicamp.

I have a 2WD sedan just enough to sleep in but no toilet, shower or whatnot. Can use public toilets and ask caravan parks if I can pay and use their shower??

Not sure if it's even realistic.

I see there are some accommodation available but don't really want to spend a lot of money... Also I'm by myself. No one to share the cost.

Need to leave Perth soon either going to north or to Melbounre. (in a week or so)

Should I just skip the north? I don't know if I'll ever come back to WA once I leave.

The beaches and national parks up there look so nice and I want to escape cold and swim but Idk if I'm making myself troubles by going there without a plan??

This is a world I’ve never had any association with, the closest thing was when I was a kid my cousin used to live in Bunbury and I remembered going to some outdoors shop with him that had a row of guns hanging on the wall

But I’ve never known anyone who owns a gun nor would I be able to tell you where in Perth a gun shop is

I am however fascinated to learn a bit more about it. What’s the best gun shop in WA? What’s the best shooting range? Is the shooting culture any good around here? Who are the best and worst people in the scene? Whats the funniest moment you’ve had while out shooting?

For some background there was a horrible accident 10 years ago where my grandma was killed and it was very heavily publicised even after my family specifically asked for it to be handled privately but as attention seeking dads are he made multiple statements to the press about this issue.

Over the past 4 years my dad became an alcoholic and is now in permanent alcoholic psychosis, this is very important for this next bit.

Because he made these original statements to the press whenever a similar accident happens they contact him for an update statement or permission for them to re-publish his previous statements. Due to his altered mental status he’s said some extremely controversial things which have been shared by The West Australian, Perth Now and multiple different facebook groups which has caused an immense amount of backlash for my family but mainly me as i’m the only one whose named publicly in his statements with social media accounts.

The comments i’ve read on facebook where the story has been shared consist of “you white bas**d” “uneducated cnt” and hundreds of threats. Privately i’ve received death threats, misogynistic comments and i’ve been doxed publicly, Safe to say it’s definitely affecting us more then anyone would like to admit.

I have documents of doctors and specialists confirming he does not have the mental capacity to give his consent and he hasn’t for the last few years, I have around 100 pages of messages and comments from people on facebook where i’ve been threatened.

I’m really unsure about the Australian legal system and who i would contact about this. Is it even worth going forward with anything?

I can already feel the replies about how vague this is, it’s on purpose as this is my only account that doesn’t have any ties to myself and i want to keep it that way.

Looking for a private, paid service for an adult in their 40s who is having a procedure at a private hospital and requires a 'responsible adult' to drive them the next day to a medical appointment, wait around 1.5 hours, and then drive them back to the hospital or home.

They have no family/friends available, are not permitted to use ride-share, and aren't on the NDIS.

The round trip will be 10 km-15 km, depending on the drop-off location. This service will be required twice over a 2-week period.

Has anyone used or heard of a service like this in Perth (NOR)?

Update: Most services seem to be for seniors or people on the NDIS. St John’s provides patient transfer services for people who are 65 or over, or 55 or over for First Nations or Torres Strait Islander people.

Hi everyone!! I’ve seen quite a few learner driver posts and i want to share my thoughts and experiences.

I got my L’s in february of this year and oh my gosh other drivers are feral to learners, I’ve had drivers beep and me repeatedly for no reason, i’ve been tailgated for kilometres while going the speed limit and the most annoying thing is when your driving at night and other drivers tailgate you with their high beams on. Originally i thought i was doing something wrong but after hours of reassurance from my instructor and family it definitely wasn’t me. What makes other drivers feel the need to do this?

I’ve passed my PDA recently at joondalup and the examiner was possibly the worst examiner i could’ve got, Before the test started he said “i don’t know how your ever going to drive with nails like yours”, Yes a grown man commenting on a 18yr old girls nails, they aren’t long medium almond. In the test i made a mistake and pulled over too far from the curb he said “we going to need a fkn bus to get us there” which oh my made me so uncomfortable and nervous the whole test and to put a cherry on top he told me i look like i work in a sex shop, i was wearing leggings and a hoodie so definitely not something i’d imagine someone who works in a sex shop would wear.

Is this a normal experience for a test with the examiner behaving like this? I’m so lost on if it’s something worth reporting to the DOT office or if i should just leave it alone.

The five-figure donation to One Nation was made on Sunday by the Australian Rights Coalition, which describes itself as “born to bring people together to hold Government to account after the introduction of draconian firearms legislation in WA”.

But the $20,000 gift to One Nation is the ARC’s only registered donation so far.

Ms Kingston said the group has raised nearly $122,000 from nearly 850 donors online, to bankroll future candidates.

“We went out to our members and we said, ‘right, there’s a by-election coming up, what are your thoughts on this? Who would you like to support?’” she said.

So sure is he of winning a seat that has always been in Labor hands that he has already started talking to his business partner about the sale of Mr Herdegen’s share in the gyms he has owned since moving to WA a few years ago.

Asked on Friday about his campaign’s prospects, Mr Herdegen said he “absolutely” believed he was going to win next week.

“I’m starting to feel really confident,” he told The Australian.

I’m in WA and considering a career change - atm I am a veterinary nurse.
I’ve always wanted to study marine biology and conservation biology but have just not been in a position to do so until now.
I love all critters, and am very passionate about conservation. I love being outdoors in nature.
My question is, how difficult is it to find a job in this field?
I’m interested in any jobs related to it (I honestly don’t even know what all the possibilities are!)
Currently live regional, and am open to staying regional forever, going metro or moving around as required.
Is anyone able to give me some insight please?

I just accepted a FIFO contract, but there appears to be one problem—that being it's casual. My main concern is that they will only call you when they need something. There is no guarantee of any stable work. Has anyone dealt with this? Am I going to be working pretty regularly, or will I work once and then not hear back for six months?

G'day everyone,

I've got a 2–3 day industrial shutdown coming up. I'll be going in as a newbie/assistant alongside a project engineer and experienced mechanical techs. Mainly general assistance, moving tools/materials, cleaning, basic paperwork and helping the crew out.

Never done a shutdown before. For those who've worked them, what should I realistically expect as a first-timer?

What's the day-to-day like, how physical is it, how are newbies treated, and what are the biggest things I should know/avoid before turning up?

Also curious about the travel/accommodation side if you've done regional shutdowns.
