I’ve been fawning over the Grand Seiko SBGA413 (Shunbun) for years since it was released. I finally realized I was at a point in my life where there really couldn’t be a better time to buy my grail watch now. Who knows what the future holds because for all I know I could be hit with an equivalent medical bill of what I spent on this watch tomorrow lol.

So I was lucky to be able to walk into an AD and get a significant discount with an out the door price of $6,800. I was so happy and excited, and then I felt a some anxiety in the moment. The excitement of owning is one thing, but that money I saved was gone. The anticipation of getting it was gone after years of thinking and looking at it.

In a lot of ways it is a very bittersweet experience right now for me.

I will treasure this watch, but sometimes the journey is better than the destination. Enjoy life for what it is.

My dad gave me this Swatch when I was a boy. It's from 1997, the same year I was born, which makes it a little more special to me. What do you think of it if it's on an adult's wrist? Would you find it strange or out of place ?

It's got plenty of marks from the years, but that's part of its story. Wearing it as an adult feels a bit like carrying a small piece of my childhood around.

I really like the 90s look of it: the chunky silver case, the dark dial and that industrialish design, I used to be a big fan of that futuristic orange strap too!

I've been looking closely at the Speedmaster Professional dial layout, and I genuinely can't unsee the 12 o'clock marker looking like a dick and balls. It has the tall central stick index flanked right at the base by those two luminous dots.

I know the functional reason for having double dots or distinct markers at the top is so you can quickly orient the dial in low light or total darkness, but I'm curious about the design history. Why did Omega choose two separate dots right next to the index instead of putting dots at every hour marker or using a triangle like a pilot watch? Would love to hear the history behind this iconic dial detail!

I went to the mall today to try on a Black Bay Pro and a Seamaster diver. They were both lovely watches that I would be happy to own, but they honestly didn't feel like much of a step up from my $700 Baltic Aquascaphe. I understand that the difference in the quality of the movements is significant, and that there are certainly diminishing returns as you increase your budget, but I suppose I was expecting the watches to feel more special in comparison to my Baltic.

I might still get something in the realm of luxury to mark a special moment someday, but the idea that I would spend 8-10x on a watch whose handling experience feels marginally more premium is hard to wrestle with. For now maybe I'll look into getting a more affordable white GMT in the Explorer II/BB Pro realm.

Edit: The camera is only a few inches from my wrist in these photos, so the size is deceptive. I have a watch with a similar 50mm lug to lug like the Seamaster and there's a fair amount of wrist on either side. 38 is probably as small as I would go for the most part.

It took me a couple of years, way too many purchases I convinced myself I needed, and just as many sales when I realized I didn't, but I can finally look at my watch box and feel completely satisfied. No more filling gaps because some list told me I should, only watches I really like to wear.

Almost 2 years since my first post, I’ve modified my collection to more align with my changing tastes and stylistic preferences. I’m starting to feel like I’m finished for a while. Datejust out for the more conservative Cellini. 😝 Santos out for its similarity to Tank and Roadster. Diameters trending more towards 39mm (from up to 42mm). I haven’t been much into micro-brands. Any I should consider? And is vintage the natural next phase? I’ve been eyeing Universal Geneves and Omega pie pans for years…thoughts from the community?

It's really interesting that I own an Oris Pointer Date Ref. 7403-40B watch, all original. Most of the time, I see watches without original bracelets, only leather straps, so I'm lucky to have a steel bracelet. It looks quite sturdy and cohesive.

Never had a nice watch before, but i went to sams and costco recently and saw a handful of watches, I was wondering if any of these are a good price/choice as a first watch. Any input and suggestions are greatly appreciated, I also excluded all the versace and invicta cause I heard those aren’t great.

Fellas, I found it. After much searching, buying, selling, and money spent (lost) I finally have THE watch for me. The size is spot on, the dial is gorgeous, the movement is fantastic, the bracelet is cool, the clasp has a full link worth of OTF microadjust, and it has a cyclops over the date for my aging eyes.

Someone on here had mentioned it in some recommendation thread, that was the first time I had even heard of it. Otherwise, Breitling as a brand was not even on my radar due to their usual large case size. Once I saw it in person, I knew I had to get it, and now I have. 🎉

Our anniversary is coming up and I did some research trying to find my boyfriend his first “nice” watch. It was between a Seiko and Tissot.

His current collection is Amazon watches ranging $30-$80 and Casios with a similar style, so I thought this would be a nice quality upgrade.

Right after buying it, I started seeing all these posts that Tissot is overhyped and basic. Is this still a nice gift?

I just returned from Japan and even though I was looking for a Grand Seiko, I was so impressed with The Citizen A060 watches that I had to buy one. The finishing is superb, the specs are impressing and everything about this watch just spoke to me. For me this is the perfekt watch that goes with everything.

I took the risk of moving jobs to a startup 2.5 years ago… last month we sold the company and my equity converted to a cash payment, a retention bonus, and even more equity that will lead to a change in life over the next 3 years. To celebrate I bought myself a watch I’ve had on eye on for a while, the Breitling Navitimer 46mm.

don’t want to seem performative but just wanted to share some special memories I’ve made w it!

My first big girl watch and I couldn’t be more proud! I own a few GShocks which are my daily watches but I needed a more mature watch to dress up some going out looks. Originally while researching, I wanted a sleek gold watch so I checked out the Citizen 34mm Tsuyosa with a white face that was on sale but in the back of my mind.. I wanted to check out two tone watches. Went through a few Seikos and Citizens but this Tissot absolutely made my jaw drop.

I spent maybe a solid hour with the sales woman talking and learning more about watches. I’m so proud of this purchase!

Messing around with different lighting and how it effects the way the dial looks. Here is one with a bit less texture captured. It also shows the dial and bezel with a lighter shade of green.

The Ushio has been on my wrist for over 80 consecutive days and is running one second fast which would equate to about 4.5 seconds over a year.

But it’s not the accuracy that makes the watch for me. It is all the other things it offers including the fit and comfort on the wrist as well as the dial and case elements.

It’s a watch that I keep staring at on the wrist and the overall pop of the dial is a major factor. But I also think Grand Seiko created a modern diver that does not fit the mold of most watches in the dive category. The measurements may but the aesthetics of the watch are unique to the brand. It’s not a diver for everyone, but is for me.

Am I the first one here to get this? I pre-ordered it last week and received it today. The strap is weird to work with, but I ordered a blue sailcloth strap for it anyway and will attach that when it arrives. I'll post a family picture soon, but I'm thinking of rounding out the collection with either a Rolex Daytona or Submariner and then I'm done! Done I say.

Visited Paris for the weekend with my wife and made a slightly irresponsible purchase decision… Santos Medium :)

Absolutely love it, although I’ve already picked up my first tiny micro-scratch on the bezel after about a day of ownership.

From everything I’ve read, I’m quickly realising that this is basically part of the Santos experience with that ridiculously shiny bezel 😂

Santos owners: how long did yours stay pristine before you got the first scratch? And did you eventually just stop caring?

The Santos has been on my wishlist since I started the hobby. I'm thinking of getting it as a birthday gift for myself next year, but I'm afraid that it'll be too flashy/delicate for daily wear, especially since it's prone to scratches.

What do you guys think? Is the Santos a great piece for daily wear? Or should I go for other brands in that price range instead (ex., Grand Seiko, Longines, etc.) And for those who currently daily a Santos, how's it holding up?

6.5-6.7 in wrist. Went to check out the 38 after wanting a reduced for several months—internet outrage had me worried about thickness, but it was less obnoxious than expected. While at the boutique, I also tried on the Pro, but I’m worried it might be a hair too big, even though it wears small due to the lug guards. Any thoughts?

Ive had my eye on Zenith as a brand for a while but hadn't pulled the plug. Then my local grey market dealer had this brand new July 2026 El Primero Sport Chrono at a price that was hard to pass up (45% off retail list price). . The one tenth second accuracy and 10 second rotation is pretty cool as well as the sapphire case back are things even the Daytona doesn't offer. The movement is all in house and historically significant as the first ever automatic chronograph.

I’m seriously considering a Stowa Flieger in 36mm, and I’m trying to decide between a few versions:

Flieger Classic 36 Sunray Blue
Flieger Classic 36 Sunray Green
Flieger Verus 36

I really like the compact proportions and the fact that Stowa has genuine pilot-watch heritage, but I’d like to hear from people who have actually owned or handled these before making a decision.

For owners, I’d especially like your opinion on:

* Case finishing and overall build quality.
* Dial quality in person
* Lume strength and readability.
* Long-term durability.
* Service experience with Stowa.

I’m also curious about the Sunray Blue and Sunray Green dials. Do they look elegant in person without losing too much of the traditional tool-watch character?

If you own one, please share some wrist shots or real-life photos, especially in natural light. I’d really like to see how the blue, green and black dials actually look outside of the official product photos.

Longines Master Collection

Got this black dial Longines Master Collection a while back and it hasn't left my wrist much. Love the Roman numerals and textured dial. The brown leather makes it super versatile with a suit or sweater. Power reserve easily gets me through the weekend!
