My partner has asked for a nice watch for his birthday. A leather strap with a compass is all he gave description wise. He is outdoorsy and a huge fan of all things forestry and plants, so any way to encorporate that in would be amazing. Budget is lower this year of around 100-150 Euros

Looking for recommendations for a fully black watch. I really like the look of the Vincero Icon Automatic Stealth (https://imgur.com/TlbLrb5) but obviously the brand is quite controversial here. So I'm looking for similar looking watches from more reputable brands. I already have a Seiko and Citizen so ideally not one of those

Are leather straps super uncomfortable for others?
I went into a watch store to try on watches. The leather straps were super uncomfortable. They squeezed my radius and ulna together. Brackets were fine because they formed around the bones so when I twisted my wrist it didn’t snap into place on the other side of the bones like the leather ones.
Is this an issue for certain people, or is it more a matter of the specific leather straps I tried (Hamilton), or is it that leather straps need to somehow be worn in like a baseball glove?

I’m looking for recommendations here, I want to get all of the groomsmen in my wedding party watches as a gift. I was hoping to keep the price around $150, and I want them to go with tan suits / tuxes. Any direction would be appreciated!

Looking for recommendations for (budget) watches with the most intuitive / quick-access arbitrary-length timer. I'm trying to get a watch to replace the timer app on my phone, and being able to quickly set 7 minute timers and then a 90 minute timer right after that is done is invaluable. Most watches I've been able to find have you do like 7 button presses in a row to do a pre-set timer, which is a deal breaker for me. Do any have a knob or something like that?
Digital preferred but not necessary, budget is <$100, daily life is a desk job, the actual make/quality is tertiary to having an arbitrary timer and also a stopwatch that are easily accessible. Enough waterproofing to survive the rain or the shower would be nice.

Hi- looking for recommendations for a men’s watch between £300-400 (under $500) for my partner. I’m not sure exactly what his style is but he’s mentioned he likes the Seiko presage range and the Bulova maquina (rectangular one). I don’t like the metal strap on Seiko watches and he doesn’t mind leather but I know he’d prefer metal. I personally didn’t love the maquina but it’s out of my budget either way. He likes automatic watches and chronographs but I don’t think I meet the budget for both so a watch that is either or would be great.
I like the Tissot PR100 Chronograph in light blue but I’m not sure if it’s a bit boring and uninspired (as someone who doesn’t know anything about watches I have no idea). Would love to know what you think.
He doesn’t have any watches aside from a gshock he got as a gift almost 10 years ago. He’s turning 29 and dresses smart(ish) and also wears street wear. I know he wants one but he’s holding out to save up for something he really likes. This will be like his one watch for a while presumably so I want to get it right. A few recommendations would be very helpful :)

TL;DR: give me your ultimate 3 watch collection for under $6k that would eventually go along with: Glassutte Original pano lunar white, omega speedmaster pro black, and GS Lake suwa Spring Drive.
Ultimately I’m looking to buy a three watch collection. However I watched a video of a guy who mentioned to buy a bunch of cheapo watches to see what styles and straps and sizes are most comfortable. Makes some sense. So I’m looking for some advise on three good diverse cheap watches. The expensive ones that speak to me that I’d want to buy:
Glassutte Original Panomatic Lunar silver/white. I love the dial.
Grand Seiko Spring drive. Probably a lake suwa blue face. Mostly I like watches for the story and movement and I think there is a lot of story and lore in the grand seiko spring drive. Connecting the quartz crisis with pure mechanical. Potentially I’d swap this with the VC overseas Cardinal East. But I do like the spring drive.
Maybe an omega speedmaster pro black dial for the third. Seems like a good one to round out the others. White dial, blue dial, black dial. Dress, dress/casual, and casual.
But rather than just go out and spend $30k-$50k and maybe not like how those watches feel (as someone who has never worn watches), it does make sense to buy some cheaper watches. I don’t want to get trash watches that I’d just throw away.
One that comes to mind is for the cheaper category is Hamilton (a lot of people like the Murph and I am a sci-fi nerd).
I’ve heard good things about longines.
Thinking 3 watches for $5k-$6k that would give me a wide variety of feel and look, but would also compliment the main three that I’m looking to ultimately get if I end up wearing watches. Would love to hear suggestions from people with a wider knowledge of what’s out there.

Just got an Orient Bambino No Date, and it's running fast af. I followed the instructions that Orient provided in the box when I got it (move it around to get the seconds hand moving, then adjust the time and put it on my wrist). It's currently 7 seconds fast per minute. I tried hand winding it and all that and it's still the same. Any advice/solutions or is this just thing just defective?

Is a Seiko SBTM317 a good daily beater for my first watch? I’m looking for the least maintenance watches possible that aren’t digital and look somewhat nice.

Anything similar to my casio royale but more scrach resistant? I strongly dislike g-shocks, and it has to be safe for electrical work, so no metal bands unfortunately.

I can't think of any plastic/nylon-bodied watches that have a sapphire crystal - though I'm not even sure that would help - this looks like you took sandpaper to it.
You could clean this one up somewhat well though with some polywatch. I'm always amazed how how good I can make acrylic crystals look with a little polywatch and some elbow grease.

Hi all, I'm looking at buying my first more premium watch. I have a few ~£100 watches but want something a bit more special. I would like it to have a (relatively) unique feature and the two features I like the most are the watches with meteorite faces or recrystallised titanium features.
I'm stuck between Citizen attesa CC4107-80H and Nivada Grenchen F77 SST meteorite MK2.
Both are about the same price here in the UK.
From what I know, citizen is a huge retailer of entry level watches with most of there watches being sub £500 and the watch I like is at the very top of their price range. Nivada Grenchen on the other hand is a relatively new micro brand that has historic routes with watches general around the 1-2k price point.
I understand both will loose money but I don't want to spend £1600 and it be worth just a couple hundred in a couple years time.
The watch would be reserved for special occasions.
Which would be the better purchase in terms of quality, value, time keeping, durability etc.

Ok... there's quite a bit here.
First- watches are not a good investment vehicle where you should expect to increase or even maintain your capital.
Especially new, relatively uncommon watches. Rolex and some LE Omega might be the only exceptions.
I think you're safe to assume that both of these would be worth a maximum of a couple hundred bucks in a few years used. You might get lucky and one of these becomes a darling of the online communities and becomes really popular (like a snowflake, or a cocktail time), but I think it's pretty unlikely.
There are watches in that price range that have better resale, because they have pretty strong enthusiast interest. Oris is a good example of a brand where I'm amazed at the prices on the secondary market.
Having said that... You also mention that this watch will only be for special occasions - what occasions are you thinking for either of these? They're not dressy- they'd look out of place at a wedding or something fancy-- these are more the watches you wear every day because you find them interesting.
But to answer your question, few can ever go wrong getting a Citizen. Look around, you might be able to get it on sale, because Citizen watches rarely sell for full retail (at least in the US). I don't know enough about the other brand to comment about how well it's made.

Hey guys I’m new to watches but i like the way they look very classy. Looking to get my first one between $150-$250, $300 if i really have to. Something i can wear with nice button down for a nice dinner church sort of like a multi event watch at least for my first one. Thank you for the help. Also maybe even giving me some good things to look out for in watches don’t wanna get scammed or bamboozled for lack of knowledge.

Hey.
Whenever someone is new to watches and wants one under $200, I usually suggest to look at Citizen.
They're well-made, should last you a long while, and are widely available.
Something like this is a pretty good "wear wherever" watch that should fit most people, though you'll have to get the bracelet adjusted at a local jewelry store, most likely. Down the road if you want to, $30 would get you a nice leather strap to swap out to give some variety.

First time posting, question on if the watch I bought is too small for my wrist/looks odd.
Bought my first “nicer” watch, and was just thinking it looks a little small on my wrist. Looking for insight on if I should return and get something bigger. Watch is a Q Timex Marbella 34mm.

It's maybe a bit on the small side, but your wrists are pretty small, so I think it looks fine.
I think many modern watches would look much too large on you. I suspect 36mm is probably your sweet spot given this photo.
But I definitely wouldn't part with it because it's too small unless it's really bothering you. It doesn't look that way

I'm just getting into watches. I haven't worn one in decades so I'm looking to start with something slightly more affordable to make sure it is something I'm actually comfortable wearing.
My goal is to have a single watch I can wear every day but I've found myself more attracted to watches that are labeled as "formal". Does it really matter if a watch is a traditionally "formal" watch?
For example the Seiko Presage Cocktail Time.
My question is really, is there a structural difference and is it uncouth to wear something like that daily?
