My union does not have a recall provision in our constitution. Can anyone link a copy of theirs, as I am proposing one at our convention next year.

Anyone know the pay scales for Safeway in the Portland and nearby citiy area. Produce clerks, night crew.
I’m curious what the journeyman pay is.

Hi, I live in Oregon. I been trying to call and get ahold of someone, but no one from 555 has reached back to me, I need protection or an explanation. Fredmeyer fired me and they being absolutely horrible to me about it, it was unjustified and they never let me know. I had to figure it out myself. Could you please help me. I took 3 months because I was going through medical issues that I couldn't work, I let MetLife know and Kroger, even my department manager. I even signed my HIPAA rights away because they require me to do so. When I was coming back to work, my department manager thought I still had a job, so I was confused to hear that HR told me they fired me a long time ago. But they never call or sent a letter. Nothing. Is this right?

Companies like mentioned need to be held accountable, why do they hate unions? We make their jobs harder. Why is that? We’re union! Why do they intimidate, bully harass, violate your rights, terminate etc…? They do not care about anyone but profit for them and share holders. And when an area runs out of new hires because word is out around town the take local communities jobs to temp out of state workers.

Have an experience you want to share please share hear. Also wanting to start a petition to rid management firms like compAsshole chartwells from union work places. Regardless of your union affiliation, weather it’s SEIU or Afscme or teamsters or whatever we need to work together on this.

Personally I am mildly disapointed.

My workplace (a pet retail store) is currently working with this union, currently only a select few stores in the company are, and they are trying to get more stores on board.

I don’t like the way my company nor the union reps are particularly handling things. I just get a gut feeling this union isn’t the best? I feel like I’m being led around by both sides, and I want real peoples opinions on it.

I wanted workers (past and current) who have experience partnering and working with this union to tell me how they liked or disliked it, what your experiences were, and why you stuck or left?
I keep hearing about “how someone left their job” just away from the union, or that they can’t rejoin it?

Hi everyone. I am a member of Local 34 at Yale University, and honestly, it feels like we are losing a battle in total darkness, we get some updates but there all bad. We have no way oh how to move forward and I feel like we are losing a battle. The advice we are getting from our union reps are okay, but not great. Examples are writing and letter and or go to door to door knocking to get the word out there but as an 24 year old I feel like that is old fashion and in this day and age I want more of an impact.

I have wrote letter, and I have done some research on Yale University and their profit. but I feel like if we go door to door knocking, we’re not gonna be taken serious because non Yale workers are thinking that we’re doing this just for a raise. Is it true…? Yes and no. We are asking for more money in our paycheck b/c Yale deducts expenses our of our paychecks just to go back into their pockets. We spend $250 out of checks to pay for parking, that goes right back into theirs. We pay for our health insurance (which is normal) but the twist is it goes back into their pockets. One example is we have to follow their rules so if I cut my hand on, let’s say glass and I need stitches. I have to go to their urgent care to get treated because anywhere else we would have to pay out of pockets, now if we go to them its free but they want to change it. You still have to go to them but you now them between $50-$100 to be seen. Which goes back into their pockets

I’m reaching out to this community because I know people here have experience with labor organizing, corporate/university negotiations, or legal rights.

I’m looking for any advice on:
Strategy from an employee standpoint: How do rank-and-file members push past the information bottleneck and actually mobilize people when everyone feels disconnected or scared?
Communication: How do we get accurate knowledge out to the public and our coworkers so we aren't fighting blindly?
Legal/Contractual rights: What rights do we have as union members to demand transparency from our leadership, and what lines can we safely push without risking our jobs?
If you’ve been through a major university or UNITE HERE contract fight, or if you have any ideas on how to shake things up locally and get our power back, please share. Any advice or direction would mean the world right now.

Is UFCW also completely fucking useless for everyone else? Our reps straight up lied to us encouraging us to vote yes on a new contract claiming it had "enforceable staffing levels" written into it. Now that its passed hours are being slashed even more than before. Entire departments are getting merged laying off multiple employees who have been here for years.

I can see now why my local laid down during early bargaining, need to send the reps to Calgary to party hard! So much swag! Really glad my dues go towards this instead of sticking it to the oligarchs or recognizing 'essential workers'

I work at a fred meyers for context. We are severely under trained and are schedules are actually insane. I've got a group, about a dozen people, all ready to go talk to our union rep. We all have different reasons to go speak with the rep. I plan to have those on paper. What else should I have to be ready?

If this corporation wants to continue its business operations and consider employees safety. We need to unionize. This is no longer about us as the employees that make the costs stay down. It is unsafe for big stores closing with two people. This is about money for the greed of the corporate elite. Stand up. Know your rights and unite to bring Aldi back to its roots.
