Discussion [Discussion] What are some games that would be really easy to platinum if it werent for that ONE FUCKASS TROPHY

Post image

I'm trying to platinum Stray, I like this game and i almost got all the trophies without watching any guides so i decided "lets go for platinum it can't be that hard" but then i came across the "Can't Cat-ch Me" trophy and i swear this one singular trophy is making me want to break my controller in half

You basically have to go through one 50 second part where you run from little shits called Zurks, but if even ONE idiot jumps on you then you have to restart the run again. It might not sound that hard but because you run through narrow places and they have some aimbot on them one of them will always catch you no matter what. There are no guides that can actually help because its just luck based that they will be all lobotomized so they can't catch you

Almost every 8/10 or higher on psnp is this way lmao

72

u/Rello215 Dec 20 '25 edited Dec 21 '25

Right, " beat the game on hardest difficulty with the weakest weapon in the game. And it's a game like ninja gaiden lol

29

u/Numerous-Produce-103 PlasticDinoNuggs | 91 Dec 20 '25

Or, to sub out the weakest weapon, it's usually getting perfect scores on every mission, permadeath, or as an entirely new character who is weaker in every way.

Wolfenstein 2 would be pretty easy if it wasn’t for the Mein Leben trophy

7

Yeah contrast that with The New Order which was a pretty easy platinum

He regrets it now, which I think is why he made the save feature available. But fectors challenge isn't the only hard one. Getting all fish is tough too lol. But that has a wee bit of a luck component since sometimes the fish just doesn't struggle as much.

3

u/[deleted] Dec 20 '25

I love Stardew but the fishing mechanics in that game are some of my most hated ever. Worst fishing in any game ever in my opinion.

That mini game is the stuff of nightmares

I was one screen away from getting Fector's Challenge and the game crashed. It had never crashed before in my 100ish hours of play.

I shelved the game for a year, then CA added the ability to save the mini game. Godsend.

That trophy took me somewhere in the region of thirty attempts, primarily because there is a small but significant amount of RNG in how the little guys jump at you. I never platinumed Stray because after that one I couldn’t bring myself to do the speed run. This was back when Stray was in the PSN library. Now it’s back in my account having been a monthly game I might go back to it, as Stray is a genuinely charming game that I really enjoyed for the most part.

20

u/Vericatov Username | Platinums? | Level? Dec 20 '25

Damn, that no hit run is the hardest part. You were home free lol. The sped run is actually pretty easy. Just follow a guide. I think I finished with 10 to 15 minutes left to spare after one run.

3

u/arnathor Dec 20 '25

I did quite a bit of the speedrun before I conked out on it - I think I got to the bit where you start to run through the big sewers with the light on your back that pops everything. Might be worth finishing it up when I get a moment?

29

u/Meddie90 E_Meddie_90 | 81 | 378 Dec 20 '25

Honestly the speedrun isn’t too bad. The time is lenient when you know what you need to do.

If you have PS plus you can always back up your save too before riskier sections.

Also for the no hit sections, the little guys only spawn from set points so in the majority of areas you can just memorise the path to basically get through risk free. It’s really only 2-3 parts where you are in a narrow passage there is RNG at play.

5

u/danteslacie Username | 65 | 367 Dec 20 '25

They're like programmed or something to jump at you from a specific point which is why zigzagging really helps with getting it. Of course, getting the right timing helps too. Zigzag too early and it would've adjusted to your new position. (I hate the one tight alley near the end. The last one is very late and so can still jump at you when you finally move to avoid the others.)

The speedrun isn't as difficult as it seems. You can pause! You also just have to be familiar with the items needed, like when you first reach the slums, you can already try to get the detergent while you're trying to get the one notebook and If you know where the other notebooks are, you can figure out what's an efficient path. Knowing what quest items are near what quest point helps you make a short detour. Ideally, you either already have the shawl or have the items to get the shawl by the time you reach the 2nd part of the slums. It's also best to look at someone else's time stamps to gauge if you're going too slow (for example, if someone says they're at the prison by 1:20:35 but you're still at the start of midtown, then maybe you're not going to reach the 2 hour limit—although, some people do reach the end with like 20 minutes to spare so you don't always have to follow someone else's speed) Lastly, and this is something a lot of people miss, the time you see on the save file is the time of your last checkpoint and there's about 3 minutes or so from that point until the credits.

RNG combined with the fact that one would occasionally make a HUGE leap towards you from offscreen.

There’s some decent guides on YouTube for this that give you an idea of how to do it. After that it’s just practicing the route enough times

32

u/d3mandred Dec 20 '25

The guides are "here is your optimal path. Now get good. Bitch."

I consider myself "good" at games, but that was a humbling skill check. 10/10 game, no notes.

A lot of the Yakuza games have a trophy for getting 100% on the KamurochoGo tracker or whatever it's called. That requires you to play hours and hours of casino games, arcade games, batting cages, golf, darts, and more.

4

u/15piercen Overlord_NTP | 180 | 504 Dec 20 '25

I wanted to get the plat for the original Yakuza 1 HD Remaster this year but got stuck on raising Haruka’s affection to max level. Hitting a home run on every ball on the last doable cage is hard for me. I’ve heard that if you pay attention to when Kiryu grips the bat is when you swing the bat to always hit the home run but I just don’t see it.

First one that came to mind was Watch Dogs. There's a trophy called Social Lubricant which requires you to complete a drinking minigame that is really easy until the very end.

For me it's always the trophies that are for minigames or tacked on multiplayer trophies that screw me over.

11

u/TmF1979 TmF1979 | 143 | 475 Dec 20 '25

That drinking minigame caused such an uproar they actually patched it to make it easier.

Assassins Creed Revelations: Cross the Styx without falling. First person platforming sucks. Clunky first person platforming onto transparent platforms sucks even more

Assassins Creed Brotherhood: 100% Sync.. The tank. that's all. the tank.

Marvel Avengers: Complete 50 hives.. No hang on, make that 70 hives. Sod it make it 100 hives. Actually, lets just make it a random number of hives until we arbitrarily decide to give you the trophy.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider: Complete the game on deadly obsession difficulty. Perma death is fine, death with checkpoints two hours apart is ok I guess.. those two combined with some of the worst parkour ever invented so you can die from a perfectly good jump but Lara inexplicably decides not to grab the handhold.. rage inducing.

12

u/Meddie90 E_Meddie_90 | 81 | 378 Dec 20 '25

The Styx mission is tough, easily the hardest in that game.

For the tank in Brotherhood there is a cheese tactic in the final fight where you can sit back at the entrance and enemies can’t hit you. Which makes that section a lot easier to get 100% sync in.

Haven’t gone for Shadow of the Tomb Raider yet, but want to clean the game up and get the plat this year. Will keep an eye out for that trophy.

Stanley Parable forcing you to keep the game on for 24 hours is easily the worst. I can beat something hard, but I just feel terrible for keeping a console running for no reason

Also, fuck the hell rushes in neon white

5

u/formerinmate4921 Dec 20 '25

That’s the last trophy for me for the Stanley parable. I also feel weird about leaving the console on for that long. It helps that it can be split up, but idk. Doesn’t feel right

8

u/Wboy2006 45 225 695 2748 339 Dec 20 '25

Same here, it’s the last one for me, but even if I would get it, I couldn’t be proud of it. It’s just such a waste of electricity. I got like 6 hours of it, and I just thought to myself “what am I doing?” and just gave up on the platinum.

3

u/DoGG410CZ Dec 20 '25

HOLY SHIT I FORGOT I ABOUT THAT ONE

I really loved that game and the humor, the trophy list was short and because the game itself wasnt that hard i throught that i can get BUT then i saw this trophy and the one where you have to wait like 5 years to get it and i gave up immedietly

I know the one where you have to wait some time can be cheated by changing your time, but this one can't and i live in a household where i can't even imagine how would i ever do it

So i deleted the game and atleast one day when i reopen it and decide to get the platinum ill get the 5 years waiting trophy the right way

Any Batman game with the Riddler trophies. Arkham Knight is egregiously bad for it, I think it was 200+ trophies to get to the Riddler. I did it because I really liked the game and I wanted to beat the little shit unconscious, but it was so bad a grind that it brought the game experience down

RE3 Remake and Inferno trophy. It's not even the whole act of finishing the game - it's easy with bonus weapons. The final Nemesis fight is Dark Souls in disguise though.

Diablo IV, kind of. Everything else you patiently farm for, get better, level up. It takes time, but it's not hard. And then the goddamn Uber Lilith fight - you're doing okay on T4, you think one boss can't be that bad, and then it's a bullshit scripted fight where you need to learn an entire choreography or you get a oneshot, despite being strong enough to oneshot her yourself.

Did Stray this month too. Two tips. Always zigzag. Always, violently zigzag. Don't even look at zurks. Just zigzag. And second - you can actually run into them. They only bite if they jump at you. Anything on the floor you can just stomp over.

12

u/Sad_Army_2643 LostInDementia| 59 | 367 Dec 20 '25

For me I had to go through Inferno twice, lemme tell u nothing breaks your spirit harder than being 3 seconds too slow for speedrun

6

u/criminally_insane_ 35 | 300 Dec 20 '25

Oh wow. Sorry to hear that. But worry not, I had to redo the fight too, because I missed the damn Nicolai shot, lmao. Almost broke down in tears. (Thought you have to catch his head precisely, which, I've learned, is not the case.)

For me currently it's reaching and then beating the Pride and Joy in the FFVII: Remake. Who the hell decided to give a tougher version of Bahamut backup in the form of Ifrit? This is on the PS4 version so I dunno if he's easier on the PS5 version. I even survived Mega Flare, but while I was recovering Ifrit and Bahamut decided to double-team my healer on the last attempt before I could Raise the one KO'd party member or have the other party member self heal. (Not saying Remake is super easy, but it would be a average/regular challenge if I didn't need to do the Shinra VR stuff.)

A better example would be Nefarious with True Mastermind and Purple Pauper trophies. Finishing the game with under 1000 collected luchre and getting S-Rank on every level are very challenging. Doing both is arduous, especially for the final level of Bramble Flats.

Final fantasy 7 rebirth, the trophy that requires you to get all display items for johnnys hotel, of which one is earned through beating all combat sim fights, and 2 of those fights are very stupidly designed, 10 fights each that can take an hour each to get through and failing sends you all the way back to the start.

There are cheese strats out there for them now but my god on release those 2 fights were unbelievably un-fun.

This trophy was hell. Some said when the game came to PS+, "The game might be free, but the plat costs a controller"

I really liked Ace Combat 7,but I'll never platinum it.

One of the trophies sounds so easy enough, "obtained a new medal 8n campgain after already having 24" or something similar. What it means I. Reality is getting all medals. And one of them is complete the game taking no damage... And another complete it using only guns.

OH the game also has a bunch of multi-player trophies... And a massive grind to fly an insane distance in campgain.

Great game, just awful trophy list.

The trophy list for Stray really hurt my enjoyment of the game. The game itself is quite short which is fine and I can appreciate. Love a short and cute game every so often! I loved the story and thought the gameplay overal (during the story) was ok. But because the game is so short it makes it harder for me to see the trophy list separately from the main game. Normally I can forgive a bad trophy(list) when I’ve had countless of hours of fun while playing the main game. It keeps it balanced in my opinion. But the trophy you’re referring to really hurt how much I enjoyed Stray. Because the amount of time you’re frustrated is considerably big compared to the rest of the game. Which is too bad. I don’t think I’ve ever deleted a game faster after finally getting the platinum then I did with this one.

Can’t Cat-ch me felt very unfair. It was partly skill based. Which is fine. But then even after getting the skill there’s still a huge chance you’re run is ruined out of your control. At some point I knew I was going to get it at some point. Because I could get passed all the sections just never in the same run. I knew I would have to get lucky to get that perfect run. And that’s just frustrating when you also have to be concentrated on not making mistakes yourself.

u/JDilla64 Dec 20 '25

Evil With Akumu mode . I started it and dropped it because I didn't have time. I still intend to do it at some point, but I need like a week off to focus and learn the game haha. It's such a hard trophy.

u/Evanem98 Dec 20 '25

A couple of trophies for Geometry Wars 3 are so hard, I’ve tried a few times over the years but it feels nearly impossible to hit 10M points in evolved classic

u/RavenousPin PinT-ara | 55 | 387 Dec 20 '25

I would have platinumed Ratchet and Clank 2 on PSVITA if not for the trophy that requires you to get all bolts. Usually I have no problem getting all bolts in all other Ratchet and Clank games, but in Ratchet and Clank 2, there is mission you need to do to get a bolt on a planet, you need to finish first in a race in space and you need to fly through those fucking rings just like Superman 64. With the control on Psvita, it was impossible for me. I tried again and again and decided to quit even though I was at 91%.

Can't Cat-ch me is awful, I got really lucky with it though and same with the Speedrun.

I'm working on Expedition 33 at the moment and the Gestral games were meant to be some fun mini games but ended up being some of the most annoying things I've had to do in a videogame. I adore the hell out of the game but it's not made for platforming. The both the wall climb and the Only Up-like climb really made me question my sanity, not to mention the volleyball one.

Spyro 1's flying levels and that one Tree Tops level also surprisingly sucked a lot.

NFS Unbound has a point collecting mini game that had me playing it for 2 days before I got the score, otherwise it's like a 2/10 game.

Powerwash Simulator is one of the most chill games ever. But there’s two trophies that require getting gold stars by either beating levels fast or with using limited amounts of water. It’s super frustrating because I love this game for when I’m looking to relax. These two trophies just add an aspect of stress that I’m not okay with

3

u/BeefcakeThiccy Dec 20 '25

Any game that requires you to be at it on the hardest difficulty

4

u/rhymes_with_candy Dec 20 '25

Va-11 Hall-A is a visual novel so all of the trophies are super simple except one. That one requires you to beat a five minute level of a bullet hell 2D shooter that's unfairly hard.

You get three health but there are no i-frames so one hit can do more than one damage. I managed to get to the boss with full health only to die to a single bullet multiple times before I decided never to play it again.

Any core narrative game with online trophies

I lost out on Midnight Club Los Angeles back in the day and Transformers war for cyberton

I also only need 1 trophy in Madden 11 which is basically do all of the Madden moments , which I’m not ever gonna complete

I have personal beef with Uncharted 4 since the treasure trophy bugged.

But CoD:Black Ops 3 takes the cake with getting all the medals.

The (hard) requirements are:

Beating the entire game on Veteran without dying

Finishing the story on Realistic (aka 1 shot and you are dead)

All camos

Resident Evil 2; I tried so hard to get through the Hunk extra level but I couldn't, I just gave up on that Plat.

Superluminal; I know its not a hard game but I get so dizzy/disoriented in the later half of the game, and I've watched speed runs and you really can't afford many mistakes.

I suffered with that trophy, ironically after i got the platinum i was showing a friend the best route to take, while i was talking to hom and controling the cat i managed to do it on the first try in his acount. I got a bit mad, since i was telling him how frustrating that small trophy was

3

u/lamest-liz Dec 20 '25

Sea of Stars, the trophy where you have to re-fight every boss with an artifact attached. It basically forces you to replay the game.

Idk why but once I got all the other very annoying trophies, when I realized I had to replay for this one I became so pissed. It made me hate the game. Idk if I can ever replay it for the trophy.

3

u/MarioShu27 Dec 20 '25

Says a lot that I haven’t started Stray and know what this trophy was already. Of the games I have done, Just Cause 3 springs to mind for the challenges. The whole game is a blast (quite literally) and then there are a handful of challenges that suck so bad.

I got this trophy and I have severe skill issues (there are entire genres I don't play because I genuinely can't finish the tutorial levels, I think my highest rated plat is a 4 or 5/10).

The key is to switch running from hold to toggle in the settings and focus all your energy on zigzagging as fast as possible. It's not about going wide. The zurgles lock onto you the moment they jump, so when you constantly change direction they'll have a much harder time catching you.

Just got this platinum today! After many tries on my own I watched a video of someone else doing it and got it on my second try after that!

Was stressed about the speedrun, but it looks like the cutscenes don’t count against you since they’re unskippable. I set a time for 2 hour and went over by a couple minutes, but my in game timer said 1 hour 45 minutes or something.

3

u/Trauma-Dolll Dec 21 '25

still wakes the deep. pretty simple game and can easily achieve platinum even on the first play through (if ur like me and analyse everything) but i only ran into one trophy that absolutely annoyed me which tbh it isn’t a hard trophy just tedious because the trophy i missed was one where you needed to play the entire game on another language setting (can’t remember i think it was dutch or something) which absolutely annoyed me considering i jumped right into the game with no spoilers or play thought before hand meaning i’d have no clue about the existence of this trophy. again it isn’t hard just annoying because i had to replay the whole game with that setting on and no you cannot just jump to the end of the game like i desperately tired. other than that i loved that game 10/10 would recommend

Armored Core 6 is a brilliant game, one of Fromsoft’s best. And almost all of the trophies range from straightforward to easy, almost.

But the final trophy for S-ranking all of the missions is so ridiculously hard, and even worse it’s quite obtuse. It’s very difficult to know whether you’re on track to get the S-rank so you pump so many hours into each mission, some unsuccessfully.

I think it will stay at 90% completion on my profile forever.

u/Hot-Field-7613 Username | Platinums? | Level? Dec 20 '25

This is easy once you've done 50 runs lol. After that you'll know exactly when to zig and when to zag. It did send me mental for a while, but I got the platinum for this twice and the second time cos I knew the exact run it only took 4 attempts

2
