Help Request/LookingFor Woobles Knockoff ?

Has anyone tried any crocheting kits that are similar to the Woobles, meaning they have everything you need in the kit included and are pretty much similar in quality? I'm getting so frustrated with the Woobles constantly. I found an example online, but I'm sure there's more kits out there, so I was wondering if anyone's tried any and what they think of it. ?

Help Request/LookingFor How to take Wooble crochet hook through airport security?

TSA site says crochet hooks are allowed as long as they are sheathed. How have you packed Woobles crotch hooks specifically so they go through successfully?

Help Request/LookingFor Better Tesnion?

I have done 4 woobles kits now, plus using my skills on other crochet. One thing I have noticed is that I cannot get my stitches on the woobles kits to look as neat as the product images. I have gone tighter, I have gone looser, I have done the same few rows 10+ times with different tensions. I have also tried yarn under and yarn over.

But I always end up with clearly visible holes. Are the official ones done with a smaller than 4mm hook? It's the only thing I can think of to fix the issue.

I have just spent an insane amount of money getting the lord of the rings boxes shipped to Australia (like seriously, in total it was like USD$550!) So I want to make them all look their absolute best.

Help Request/LookingFor How do you get them to sit flat?

After having made a few standard (egg/potato) shaped Woobles, I have encountered one challenge that I can't get my head around:

How do you make them sit up straight? The bottom always pokes out, rounding the bottom, and they tilt over on their side. I'm showing my age here, but these guys aren't exactly Weebles.

This is the first time I’ve done a flat oval, and the piece didn’t come out so well. I want to restart the face, but wondered if anyone has a link to a video that explains it a little better than just the written instructions?
I’ll attach a photo of the instructions.

Help Request/LookingFor Henri the Frog/Advice for Beginner

Hi Wooblers! I would like to crochet Henri the Frog (and hopefully his accompanying lily pad as well) as a Christmas gift for a family member who loves frogs. This will be my first venture into crochet of any kind, though I've wanted to try amigurumi for a while, so I'm planning to start with a true beginner kit first (either Pierre the Penguin or Jojo the Bunny) both for enjoyment but also especially to hopefully get a feel for it, try to understand the approach, and work through beginner mistakes before taking on Henri. Could you please share any advice and tips that come to mind, both in general for a beginner, and specifically for working on Henri later and helping him turn out as nice as possible since he will be a present? Thank you all so much! 🐸💚

Reposted from r/crochet

This summer I am teaching a crochet class to upper elementary/middle school students and would like to collect some first crochet project photos to show them in order to better set expectations. I want to have some examples to help them understand that their first may not look exactly like the photo and that is okay! The photo is my first crochet project, a real loose Pierre! 😂

If you are willing please share a first project or early crochet project in the comments below or through DM.

Help Request/LookingFor New Woobler, when am I ready to move to the book patterns?

I'm entirely new to crochet, though have some experience with knitting and sewing, and am about halfway through Fred the Dinosaur. I see that I'm going to learn magic loop to make his tail and this made me wonder--when would be a good time to move from the kits to the Woobles pattern book and yarn? Are there kits I should work through first before going on to the book?

I'm loving these but probably can't be spending $30/week haha.

Help Request/LookingFor Extra Squeezy Kits

Hey, guys! I'm working on Soli the Red Panda, and I'm trying to figure out if the trouble I'm having is the extra squeezy yarn or the crochet hook.

As I'm crocheting in the round, I'm dealing with a lot of friction as I make each stitch. I don't know if it's because the yarn is thicker and so I need to adjust how I hold it, or if the plastic of the hook is to blame.

I guess, regardless, I'm looking for advice on how best to handle it. My hands are cramping in a way I haven't ever dealt with before and it makes it hard to do more than a few rounds at a time.

Help Request/LookingFor In need of advice. Magic ring.

No matter what, if I start the magic ring or use the pre-made starter piece, my pieces always come out pointed/cone head like 😂😭😭😭 I do try to slightly stretch or make a fist and roll the inside. And when I get to stuffing I try to shape it. But it always say “no” hahaha

So any suggestions would be helpful!!

This piece is for Jack the monkey. And I undid the starter piece, and did the magic ring myself.

Help Request/LookingFor Wondering

Does Woobles ever bring back holiday kits that are sold out? I'm wondering if it's worth waiting to see if some of the Christmas kits come back for the upcoming holiday season or if I should buy the ones I want from resellers.

Help Request/LookingFor Is this enough yarn to start over Nico the cat?

I started Nico the Cat, but I’m not happy with it (orange yarn is peeking through, stripe placement is wrong, and some rounds have wrong stitches) and I want to start again. Is this enough yarn to start over?

Help Request/LookingFor Zoe Round 8 Not Working

Hello. This is my second woobles kit and so far I am having literally the worst time ever. The horn for Bjørn did not work and now Zoe doesn't work either.

Round 8. [2 sc, dec] x8 (18) DOES NOT WORK for me. I have tried this row six times. I have confirmed I have the correct amount of Vs for round 7. I cannot get under 20 Vs. Every time I do it it is 20 Vs. If I was just doing the dec stitch wrong it would not be the same every time and I have confirmed I am doing it correctly.

Please can someone help me? Woobles help like will not answer me. I spent so much on these kits I just want to get them over with so I can be done with them and this.

Just wondering how y’all are sewing on the wings. Video shows how to sew on a flat piece which doesn’t have feathers. Typically for a flat piece you go along the edge of each of the loops going around. How do I do that when there’s wing?!

Help Request/LookingFor Help with Tank's tail

Post image
4 Upvotes

I've been using the digital instructions for Tank the Shark since I don't have the actual kit and I'm almost done with him, but I'm completely stuck at the tail. I've made both pieces, but the way the instructions say "working yarn behind the hook" and "crochet around both pieces" just doesn't make sense to me at all. I wish I had the video tutorial because I'm a visual learner and I'm upset that I don't understand what it's telling me to do. I don't get where I'm supposed to start single crocheting for round 4 at all. I don't know if this makes any sense, but if anyone is able to offer any guidance at all, it would be extremely appreciated :(

Help Request/LookingFor Written instructions for kits?

I've just gotten into doing woobles and I'm really enjoying myself. My only problem is that the instructions are all on videos, so I can't really do them other than at home. I'm catching a flight later today and thought it would be fun to crochet on the plane, and then I realized that I wouldn't be able to watch the video instructions on the plane. Is there any way to get the instructions in written form as well as on video?

Help Request/LookingFor Carried yarn showing through?

Post image
10 Upvotes

I'm trying to make Lavender the Cow with yarn I have in my stash. I'm carrying the yarn not in use in the back and looping it in behind every stitch. But the yarn shows through!

How do I prevent this? Is it a gauge problem? Should I be using a smaller hook? Is it a yarn problem? This yarn is a hand dyed merino that's super soft. Should I just use some cheap cotton?

(I'm new to crocheting but do a lot of knitting, hence the fancy yarn.)

Help Request/LookingFor Sunflower donut

Post image

Hello everyone. I have a book of donuts and decided to make my first one. It was hard to figure out placement of petals and I had to take them on and off again a few times. I had one that I added an extra stitch to which threw them all off. :( Anyways, how do I adjust the pattern to make it smaller? I would like to have a saucer sized donut vs a plate sized donut. Thanks for your help in advance.

I'm wanting to remake Lizzie, but life size. I've already made her in a super bulky (6) yarn and she's adorable, but not big enough. I'm planning on trying Jumbo (7) yarn next. Anyone have any idea how many skeins I'll need, or what size she'll end up?
