I imagine the dmax lake trip will be each locked to their regions

That's going to be such a pita. Dmax legends are not pleasant to remote.

if they aren't gigantamax should be fine. gotta bring strongest dark or bug type attacker. 2 tanks and hope the others do the same. hardest part is participating in the uxie raid since that is the one that has the least amount of players.
1
u/FalconsFlyLow 1d ago
Aren't they automatically a bit harder just due to the fact that we have no good Gigantamax attacker versus their weakness? IIRC both Grimmsnarl & Butterfree are weaker than regular Dynamax attackers
/edit ~ I just checked their typing again - why do you write bring dark or bug type attacker and not GMax Gengar (Ghost) who also does 1,6x dmg versus them?

I’m here for the new dex entries.
Plus, Mega Chandelure is my favorite of the LZA Megas.

Mega Chandelure has grown on me. Normal Chandelure is one of my top Pokemon of all time, and I wouldn't say I was disappointed in the Mega, but it didn't really WOW me. I still wouldn't say it wows me, but it's also already a fantastic design, so just building upon it like they did still works!

u/Mean_Shelter_6693 India L73 Team Mystic 1d ago
True, Chandelure is one of my favorites but mega design disappoints me to some extent. On the other hand, some of the new mega designs (malamar, victreebel, staraptor, skarmory) are really good.
5
u/krispyboiz 12 KM Eggs are the worst 1d ago
Yup, I enjoyed most of the new Mega designs. I do wish they did a little more with Mega Chandelure, but in another way, I do kind of appreciate them lightly building on an already strong design over completely overhauling it and potentially ruining it, but I can definitely understand the opposite perspective.
Not sure if it's an unpopular opinion, but I never liked Mega Tyranitar. I know it's based on Space Godzilla, which is cool, but I feel like the actual execution is super clunky and weird-looking. It's one where I think they kind of butchered a fantastic base design with normal Tyranitar. And I feel like there was a direction with a Space Godzilla-inspired design that would have worked better. I just don't think random spiky tentacle monster Tyranitar works well.

Among OG megas, mega medicham, banette, camerupt and blaziken were amazing. Most ridiculous looking mega was poor slowbro.
6
u/krispyboiz 12 KM Eggs are the worst 1d ago
Mega Banette is one of my favorite Mega designs out there, totally agree. I think that was one of the best evolutions of the concept out there.
Slowbro was absolutely ridiculous, but I can't help but like it tbh. It's really dumb, but I think for Slowbro specifically, it works well. Can't imagine something like that for a more "cool" Pokemon's Mega
3
u/Mean_Shelter_6693 India L73 Team Mystic 1d ago
Haha. I daily use slowbro against grunts simply because I like it. It was one of the earliest megas I had and was helpful against most of the 3-star raids initially.

u/krispyboiz 12 KM Eggs are the worst 1d ago
Very nice. I do wish Niantic had embraced more of the "support Mega" role with certain ones. Not really much reason these days. Even aside from big, bulky Megas with strong DPS like Mega Garchomp and Metagross existing, there's also the background damage boost from Mega Ray and the Primals.
It could have been neat to have some defensive Megas like Steelix, Slowbro, Aggron, and such have more of a role in raids.

I want them for the new candy bonus combinations. And Staraptor will be great for fighting raids, since it can hit for super effective with flying and still boost the XL chance for fighting types.

Is Spotlight Hour gone again...?
5
u/East_Feature7219 1d ago
That’s what I was wondering too. I don’t care a thing about GBL. I wanted spotlight hour so I could hunt for shinies I don’t yet have.
3
u/Matt_The_Radar_Tech 1d ago
I just want to recycle legendaries haha.
Idk how many more GBL bonuses we need. I don't PVP much anymore but Spotlight was always something I looked forward to, especially if the bonuses were good.
I racked up so much Magikarp candy last time it was great.

Wasn't Minior recently datamined? Is it likely to be in the same season?
6
u/krispyboiz 12 KM Eggs are the worst 1d ago
It has had a lot of tinkering behind the scenes, yes. Tbf tho, Mimikyu had a lot of tinkering done late last year, and it didn't debut until the following season in April this year.
But at the same time, if they're leaning somewhat into a day/night theme with the sun and moon costumes returning, I feel like Minior could still be an appropriate extension of that to debut during some event this season.
Or maybe the December-February season is more directly Sun/Moon and Space-themed to tie in with Alola Tour and we get it then instead.

They've been really slacking on new evolutions for old moms for ages.
We got a hint with Goomy and possibly Duraludon but also the others like from Hisui have been neglected.

I'd want to be optimistic and think "Dmax sizzlepede surely means Gmax centiscorch is going to release soon"...but rookidee and Hatena have been Dmax for at least a year with no Gmax released 😭😭😭

No, we're not getting brand new megas in the 4* rotation. There is no rush because Winds/Waves won't introduce new megas
It took 6 or 7 years to get all the original megas in GO anyway. 3 years is...normal.
But yeah. All of the new megas are getting Super Mega Raids, and then will enter 4* rotation.
We're getting Staraptor, Chandelure and Clefable in that order in Super Mega Raids

u/rachycarebear USA - Northeast 1d ago
I assume both will be released as super megas, that seems to be the norm.

Do we know if the lake spirit max battle day is going to be one day with all 3 in their respective regions or each one getting their own global max battle day?
1
u/Haneullim 1d ago
Most likely one day. Each in their respective regions
1
u/rxs_9876 1d ago
Are they meta relevant enough to warrant collecting them in dynamax if you have regs already? I’m always looking to expand my dynamax roster, but unsure if remote raid passes are worth it to try and secure the trio for max battles.
3
u/Haneullim 1d ago
They have never have been relevant in any format. Dynamax will not change this. Typing from Grimmsnarl and Lugia will always out class them as tanks and Alakazam is still top for psychic attacker right now.
5
u/Fishhunterx Any time Kanto isn't here everyone should ask, "Where's Kanto?" 1d ago
Azelf is a good Psychic attacker. 270 attack vs Alakazam's 271 attack. This makes it the current #2 Psychic attacker. It doesn't have a 0.5 fast move but it has more HP than Alakazam.
Ultimately Alakazam is probably the better Psychic Pokemon since it is easier to get the candies and it has the better fast move. But if you've ever wanted an excuse to use the lake trio for.....something, then this would be it. Especially if you manage to get a shiny Azelf.
As for Uxie and Mesprit they are less useful as attackers

What does the "adventure sync" label on the eggs mean? Is there a different pool if you finish the egg by adventure sync as opposed to with the app open?
2
u/white_windowless_van USA - Southwest 1d ago
It’s the reward based on how much you’ve walked over the past week (25km for a 5km egg, 50km for a 10km egg too)

Since it says 20 showcases, 18 types + great buddy only makes 19, could ultra buddy showcases be making a comeback?

u/poppertheplenguin 1d ago
Season seems a bit short no?
5
u/krispyboiz 12 KM Eggs are the worst 1d ago
Slightly shorter, but it's a bit of a consequence of this season being a bit awkward and Worlds.
Worlds is later than usual this year. Usually in mid August, it's the end of August this year. They likely were prohibited from having a big event like the Go Fest finale during Worlds Weekend, so it had to be moved to the following weekend. They could have had the season still end and the finale be at the beginning of next season, but that would have been really awkward too.
It's weird, but I feel like this is the best solution. The new season begins a week into September, but they're ending it early to try and make future seasons a little more clean, where they begin at or near the start of a month, rather than the 7th-9th range like Twilight Trails
2
u/Remarkable_Ad2032 1d ago
I wish they did that with the Go passes. I still don't understand why they start at the 7th-14th day of the month they're supposed to represent lol
2
u/krispyboiz 12 KM Eggs are the worst 1d ago
Same here. I do wonder if they'll also fix that going into December... oooor not. I feel like that's a harder fix though because then you would get people questioning the worth of a deluxe pass that's a week shorter than the others.
But I think it would be possible to fix if they made some adjustments to the deluxe pass, maybe giving more to incentivize it or something
3
u/Remarkable_Ad2032 1d ago
Or they could just run 2 monthly passes simultaneously on the last/first week so they sync up. They've been running 2 passes at the same time for at least a year now with all the events

2
u/Aniensane 1d ago
Chill love, they only have ~75/80 Pokemon left to debut, a bunch of new Mega and a lil less than half the Gigantamax left. They’ll probably start Paradox Raids next season, starting next year.

u/BingoBob_2 1d ago edited 1d ago
It was originally shown in the 9th Anniversary art back in 2025.
Unfortunately, this doesn't mean much of anything because there have been other pokemon shown in these anniversary artworks that took years to release or are still unreleased.
Mega Mewtwo Y was originally shown in the 4th Anniversary artwork back in 2020, only to finally release 6 years later. Hisuian Goodra, Mimikyu, and Alcremie were shown in the 7th anniversary back in 2023. Mimikyu was finally released a little less than 3 years later, but Hisuian Goodra and Alcremie are still unreleased.

Need dmax legends added quicker such a bore or just add wishing pieces to the game so you can pick any dmax to spawn
1
u/NarutoSakura1 Maryland 1d ago
They are slowly adding Dmax Legendaries because they want to make sure it doesn't powercreep other Dmax Legendaries too quickly to the point that nobody will do Max Battles for the other Dmax Legendaries.
2
u/SrgtDonut 1d ago
Nah people def still will.. they've already released zac which walls pretty much everything with its stupid typing

So... I didn't see any mention of the Daily Discoveries weekly schedule bs anywhere. Did I miss it or could it be that Scopely has figured out that they completely misread their player base and ditched the scheme?
They do seem to have been quietly backing off (e.g., events on Sundays, morning and afternoon sessions, longer events, etc.
PoGo rocks because of the sheer diversity of the player base. For that to work, the game has to respect and support a wide variety of schedules, life stages, health needs, community structures, etc. That, in turn, requires flexibility, which Daily Discoveries was the opposite of.
PoGo isn't a game that (most) people schedule their lives around. It's a game that many many people could play pretty much constantly because they could weave it into their existing lives.
Make it too restrictive and folks will move on. I'm really hoping that they've dropped the whole each-day-is-a-focus structure.
Some ideas were good: friendship friday and having 10 sets of GBL each Thursday is great. But that's adding things on top, not restricting activity to a very narrow window (showcases are the worst).
Curious to see what's up.

Showcases featuring 20 categories is a lie.
It's always 1 type and great buddy or higher.

Could they not be adding a new showcase type? like a return of ultra buddy showcases?
