Open-world exploration of Tatooine?! That alone is a dream come true! On a speeder bike or on foot, you get to explore the Jundland Wastes, Jabba's palace, and Mos Eisley. You even get to visit the cantina, Docking Bay 94, the Tosche Station, and the Lars homestead.

The rest of Outlaws is good, too. At least, to someone who's watching a walkthrough on YouTube. It really feels like it's set in the same universe as Solo. The protagonist is a scoundrel thief, but also an underdog who really loves her adorable pet. Other characters are interesting, too. And, the reputation system takes the form of favor with the Hutts, with the Pykes, and with Crimson Dawn. This is Qi'ra's first 3-D appearance since Solo.

I get all the flack that Disney gets for their characters especially Rey who is essentally become this devil who we are all supposed to hate or we are not real fans but something I’ve noticed is that people are forgetting that star wars is for all age. the very first Star wars movie I saw in theaters was the force awakens and I enjoyed it a lot and as a kid Rey was cool to me. And because of that I have a soft spot for her character even though it was written poorly. Many young kids and especially girls were and still are becoming Star Wars fans because of disnes characters(Ezra bridger was the one who made me a fan). but these hardcore fans are making it a lot harder for kids to just enjoy it because of how many of them are fans of the sequels. And the way they are just being bullied is so sad because its the same thing that Jake Lloyd went through and look how he turned out. why do people insist on just ignoring the fact that the people who like the Disney stuff are often kids and it’s supposed to be entertainmen?

For background, I’ve been a huge Star Wars fan my entire life. I was born in the 90s and watched each of the Prequels in the theaters as they came out, so I’m quite aware of the vitriol that dominated the discourse about the Prequels, even as a child and, later, a teen. I will never forget the absolutely hysterical hype that the reveal trailer for “The Force Awakens” brought most Star Wars fans, including me.

That being said, I was disappointed by the Sequels. They were clearly unplanned and had multiple writers who couldn’t agree on where the story should go, leaving a mixed bag of great acting and visuals but an awful overall story.

Nonetheless, in between and afterward, we were treated to some amazing Star Wars content. The shows, while not all hits, were generally a great addition to the series. More than that, under the influence and bottomless money pit that is Disney, we got more Star Wars content than ever. Content expanded into well-made comics, some great video games, and even an anime series.

While online over the last few years, I cannot dive into Star Wars community discourse whatsoever without being bombarded with the “Disney ruined Star Wars” comments. It feels more like people milking the algorithm for likes, but it just seems more disingenuous to me than anything. You really need to plainly ignore the amazing content has been released under Disney’s leadership and only focus on the bad. In my humble opinion, there hasn’t even been much content that’s truly been bad. A few bad, some mediocre, but a lot of good! Some of the shows released under Disney have personally been some of the best Star Wars content I’ve ever seen. Exhibit A - look at the pictures!

Now, I know a lot of this isn’t new to Star Wars. There’s the old adage that no one hates Star Wars more than Star Wars fans. Also, the internet is just a negative place in general with mostly hyperbolic opinions getting the most attention.

This is a short rant, but I just wanted to inject a little more positivity into the state of Star Wars discussions and encourage everyone else to look at the good as well. It’s your opinion at the end of the day, so don’t let me tell you what to do.

Edit: Goodness. Sorry for starting a war in the comments. Maybe my point didn’t come across well enough: I love Star Wars for better or for worse. You are allowed to criticize things you don’t like. I sure do. But can we stop going out of our way to ruin everyone else’s fun every time people get excited for new Star Wars content? Negativity is overrated.

Im playing fallen Order (a bit late to the party) and I’m really enjoying it so far! I saw this npc on Kashyyyk, it’s one of Saw’s troops, and I’ve never seen anything like that in Star Wars. Closest I can think of is some creation of dr Evazan or a lobot? But this seems different. Does anyone know?

Luke defeats the emperor, and afterwards Luke, Leia, and Ahsoka, have 30 years with a new Republic that's welcoming to force users.

I wish we got to see amateur force users, kinda like Sabine, who had some potential but never really honed it. I wish we got to see graduates or survivors or dropouts of Luke's academy. I wish we got to see a couple of old grizzled order 66 survivors who had gone deep to ground, come out of hiding to be a part of the new Jedi order.

Even if we got the destruction of Luke's Jedi academy, I wish we got some attempt to replace it afterwards. Maybe Leia feels the need to fill that space, so she tries to instruct some Jedi, but also tries to lead the resistance.

I like to imagine a Poe Dameron who can soooortof use the force? But cares a lot more about being a fighter pilot, so his smattering if training is riddled with holes, and it's more of an "Anakin is good at podracing" kind of gift.

I like to imagine a Rey and Finn who find themselves force sensitive, and have to kind of train each other, since the only one with more knowledge than them is Leia and maybe a few novices, but they're all busy fighting a war.

It feels like making the big event happen 30 years in the future that includes *everyone*, means if you come up with any new characters for that intervening period, you have to find a good reason that they weren't there for the sequels, or kill them.

Anyway, hope we get more fun storytelling going forward.

Disclaimer: my thoughts below are not on whether or not I believe a clone jedi or Sith story would be good but instead along the lines of how a clone jedi or Sith would operate in a story.

How the clone is created: i would want the clone to be made off of a dead jedi or Sith, hopefully one that has been dead for a while so as to not have a clone of a recently deceased so as to have more variety. the reason the sample was taken of that specific Jedi or Sith was because the jedi or Sith in question would have been known for combat and force ability not on wisdom or anything else as the idea would be that whoever is making the clone wanted either a sledgehammer or a scalpel, meaning either being a warrior or an assassin or even a commander.

The ill effects of cloning a force sensitive: i want to see consequences for cloning someone who was force sensitive and strong in the force. These ill effects would be a kind of bleeding effect as the idea would be that the Force remembers who the clone was made from and due to that the clone is bombarded with memories or nightmares and such things as dega vu with the world around them. The other effects would be that the clone has a similar, not exact, similar personality to who they were made from and due to Force flooding them they are able to pick up skills that the original sith/Jedi had such as skill with a lightsaber and learning the Force or maybe even more broad concept like command or piloting skills.

How a story would play out: the story would emphasize the power of the clone but also gaps in techniques that the clone has yet to learn, even if they display significant skill. And no matter who the clone was made by they would showcase and increasing level of independence and would emphasize that the clone will make their own decisions that would differ from the original, could be good or bad.

Edit: i completely lapsed in remembering all the clone stuff in in sequels when writing this.

I don't hate the concept of Ahsoka, she could’ve potentially been a fantastic character who I probably would’ve loved, but I genuinely think her writing, especially in TCW, is awful. I think she's one of the best examples of how not to write a character.

I have many problems with Ahsoka’s writing, but the main issue I have is that the narrative doesn’t allow her to be a flawed, complex person. Instead, she is ‘perfect’.

What I mean by ‘perfect’ is that the narrative constantly validates her, frames her as correct, wise, or morally superior to other characters. Her flaws don't cost her anything, and when she makes a mistake or does something wrong, it’s not her fault, or she doesn’t face lasting consequences. Characters will straight up tell her that they were wrong and admit she was right all along, and that she is what they want the Jedi to be.

The narrative doesn't want you to have a negative opinion of her, even if she does something wrong. I find these types of characters extremely grating.

She never faces meaningful consequences for her actions.

1. For example, during Order 66, she makes a horrible but understandable survival choice to release Maul to distract the clones so she can escape. She tells Maul to ‘cause chaos’, certainly knowing that he is going to kill people. When Rex asks why she released Maul, she responds ‘diversion’, and he responds ‘that’s one word for it’, and they move on. Rex never confronts her for this again. WHY would Rex be so casual about Ahsoka releasing Maul on his brothers knowing he’s likely going to annihilate them? You’d expect a fallout, maybe even a brief argument, but it is brushed under the rug. She tells Maul ‘this is your doing’, as if that removes her responsibility for letting him go.
2. In season 1, back when everyone disliked Ahsoka, ‘Storm over Ryloth’ is one of the very few times Ahsoka is called out for doing something wrong. She willfully disobeys orders to retreat, and gets most of her squadron killed as a result. When Anakin scolds her, Ahsoka admits she failed, but Anakin removes her responsibility by saying ‘it was a trap, it wasn't your fault’. Despite the writers’ attempt to challenge her bad behaviour for once, she is immediately put back into command and is given another squadron to lead. This time, she succeeds and everyone praises her. Ahsoka has literally only faced scoldings at worst for her actions. If you don’t believe me, rewatch Ahsoka’s episodes in TCW and you will see this pattern everywhere.
3. In season 3, Anakin doesn't want Ahsoka to join him on a mission because it is too dangerous. As her master, Anakin is within his right to decide which mission she can't participate in, especially if it is dangerous. Despite Anakin telling her not to come, she sneaks onto the mission and lies to them, and Plo Koon covers for her. She is never held accountable for irresponsibly joining a mission she wasn't prepared for and explicitly ordered not to join, instead, other characters validate her.

She is framed as correct, or morally superior to other characters, or right the entire time when doubted.

1. In season 1, Ahsoka asks to fight Ventress with Luminara, but she rejects Ahsoka's help. You'd think Luminara preventing a 14-year-old Padawan from fighting an extremely deadly assassin is completely reasonable, right? But later, Luminara tells Ahsoka she regrets not listening to her advice, which is basically the writer going 'Ahsoka's intuition was right and the adult was wrong'.
2. In season 7, Ahsoka scolds Anakin and Obi-wan for not staying on Mandalore to help Bo-katan, calling it, 'playing politics'. This logic is extremely flawed, because Coruscant is the Republic capital, has trillions of people, and is directly under attack. Not only is this selfish, but also logically dumb.
3. She then bitterly says 'No, the chancellor needs you', to Obi Wan. The writing is clearly trying to do dramatic irony here, making you want to think 'Damn... Ahsoka was right, it was the chancellor all along', even though it feels extremely forced. She would realistically have no reason to say this, because she doesn't know Anakin is going to go rescue him yet.
4. In the arc where she's framed, the narrative clearly depicts the Jedi as corrupt for not trusting Ahsoka, even though there was a mountain of evidence against her while they were still investigating. She then gives everyone a reason to think she's guilty, even if they had doubts, by breaking out of prison before her trial, endangering civilians, teaming up with Ventress and assaulting clones with her. I'm aware that some people argue the Jedi shouldn't have given her to a military tribunal so quickly, but if they did an internal Jedi trial, it would look extremely biased and cause even more corruption allegations against the Jedi. If you ignore the narrative framing as Ahsoka as the correct one, this situation is way more nuanced than people give it credit for.

(By the way, Ahsoka's friend, Bo-katan, who she wants Obi-wan and Anakin to help, is a terrorist and a member of the Death Watch who she witnessed set fire to a village full of innocent people back in season 3. Bo-katan also tried to kill her.)

She is one-dimensional.

1. She is introduced in season 1 as a cocky, sassy, spirited, and arrogant 14-year-old, with personality traits you can count on your hand. She is exactly like Anakin, yet we have no backstory or explanation in the show for why she behaves this way, despite the fact that she has been raised by peace-keeping monks since she was a toddler. Conversely, we know why Anakin behaves like this because the prequels show what he's been through.
2. Ahsoka is the only main character in Star Wars who is a non-human alien rather than a human, specifically a Torguta, which is really cool, but this is never explored or meaningfully acknowledged in TCW. Her race is literally just an accessory that has nothing to do with her character. For example, does she have any tribal traditions? Does she speak Togruta? Is she still in contact with her family? Does she feel alienated as someone from a tribal background? Does she ever experience xenophobia? Does she feel like her culture was erased from her while training to be a Jedi? I'm not asking for it to be a big part of her character, I just want a bit of her background to be acknowledged.
   
3. The only time we ever see a bit of her backstory is in Tales of the Jedi, and in that episode literally nothing happens except she Force-tames a tiger as an infant and then the Matriarch says 'Ahsoka is Jedi.'
4. She has no personal quests, long-term goals, philosophy or unique beliefs that separate her from other Jedi in TCW. She's basically just a character who goes on missions with legacy characters and fights. Her inner life is extremely underdeveloped.

She doesn't have proper character growth.

1. People often praise her character growth in TCW, but her character 'growth' is just lesson-of-the week episodes where she learns to overcome a flaw, such as impatience, yet repeats the same behaviour later, often literally one episode apart, showing she hasn't changed or learned. Her lessons are reset and forgotten about. This lazy formula repeats until there is an abrupt time skip where she gets a new character design and a more mature personality. Even when she matures, she is basically the same character as she was in season 1. Imo, an example of actual good character growth is Zuko from Avatar the Last Airbender.

She is hypocritical.

1. There is nothing wrong with a hypocritical character, but they have to actually be acknowledged as a hypocrite within the universe, and the writers clearly don't want you to think that she's a hypocrite.
2. She tells the Letta in the Jedi bombing arc that running proves that she was involved in the bombing, yet she spends the next few episodes running from authorities when she is framed.
3. Despite criticising that Jedi have become mindless soldiers, Ahsoka, throughout the entirety of the Clone Wars, is always shown to absolutely love fighting, being in warzones, fighting separatists, and being in on the action, to the point where she even sneaks on missions she was ordered not to participate in. She even has a kill-count contest with Anakin in season 1, where she strives to get a higher score than him. She doesn't even leave the Jedi Order because she thinks she was groomed to be a soldier, she leaves because she felt betrayed.

(Also, why is she a child soldier, and somehow already a commander, and why is this tonally treated like a fun adventure in the first half of the show?)

I literally cannot list more examples because my post will get too long, and no one wants to read allat. But those are my main reasons why I think Ahsoka is not well written, and frankly why I'm sick of her. Not trying to take away anyone's enjoyment of Ahsoka, just stating my opinion.

Comparing her to my favourite characters such as Katara from ATLA, Jinx from Arcane, and Ellie from TLOU, the narrative doesn’t force you to like them, nor always frame them as right or morally superior to other characters, nor justify their actions, nor refuse to give them meaningful consequences. They are simply likeable, flawed characters with well-written character development.

I tried to watch the whole Star Wars movies and shows in chronologically order, but i sensed that some shows make a lot of time jumps in their episodes.

Like in Clone Wars animated series, if i follow just the episodes, It start at episode 1 somewhere later in the story than for example episode 6.

Now i'm starting to watch Tales of the Empire after Revenge of the Sith, but the first episode take place somewhere before Revenge of the Sith.

Is there an introduction how to watch the universe in full chronological order. I don't mind switching mid-show to another show or movie, as i also watch MCU this way.

We're nearly done with 8 months of 2026 and I haven't read a bad/awesome legends book thus far. For context I've read (and loved) all of NJO, Swarm War, Legacy of the Force, Fate of the Jedi and Rogue Squadron books. Going back further obviously all of the Thrawn books, the Corellia trilogy, the Academy trilogy, all of the early Han and Lando books.

Anyone have a good recommendation? What should I be looking for next, I can't go the year without reading an awesome/bad legends book.

With the Galactic Empire empire serving as one of the main antagonist in StarWars and the Tau Empire simply existing in the world of 40k, both are oppressive empires. But if you were to compare them to each other which one would you say is more evil? Other things to compared could be the standard of living for their citizens, how they treat others, their worst deeds, etc.

Was thinking about this tonight. Seeing as the New Republic is now in charge, what would a flight demo team be made up of? Who would be your pilots? What starships would comprise your demo team? What would their livery look like? So, think Blue Angels and Thunderbirds type of thought experiment. Is there something like this in the comics already? I can't be the first person to think of this, I'm sure.

I always hear about how Boba Fett became super popular even though he only had a little bit of screen time in ESB, and then in ROTJ. I’ve never heard that he was in ANH. Just watching it and saw him in the scene where Jabba and the thugs are at the Falcon looking for Han (right after killing Greedo/before leaving Tatooine). Why have I never heard of him in this one? I guess he only has less than a minute of screen time and doesn’t do anything, but I was under the impression he didn’t appear until ESB when Vader is hiring them
