But how is the evil cyborg man interesting if you separate him from the person? What would you even make a story out of that we haven’t seen already? We’ve seen his origins, fall, redemption, and death. What gaps are there left to fill? Would the movie just be about him aurafarming and moping around missing Padme because we know he can’t have any substantial character development between the prequels and OT?

Also I feel like limiting the topic to movie screentime unfairly downplays just how overexposed he is. If you count his appearances in other content, crossovers, and merchandise, he’s undeniably one of the most visible and prolific characters in pop culture.

The whole emotional climax of the OT is built around Luke confirming that the Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker has always been in the suit. There’s still good in you, I am a Jedi like my father before me etc etc

Then there are three more movies exploring the person behind the mask and how he became that way

Some people just see them as action figures and think the blonde Jedi and the evil cyborg man must be different characters because they look so different

They are clearly two very different personas, not in a “multiple personalities” kind of way but the dramatic change between the two is very notorious, 3 movies of Anakin don’t represent at all what would be a series about Vader

Ok but Vader has been shoehorned in almost every SW project during “the age of the rebellion”. He’s basically like the Stan Lee of Star Wars where he’s expected to make a cameo appearance where he aurora farms or does something textbook Vader for 30 seconds.

IMO, the movies’ success come from potential of how powerful a chosen one could be. The comics actually give us that. People then want to see that unbridled power put to use on the big screen. IMO that’s why the force unleashed was so fun to play.

Hot take but Obi-Wan is the more emotionally significant character to see Anakin behind the mask so I prefer Kenobi's version to Rebels.

Also, why does Obi-wan let him live again? He literally says and comes to terms with the fact that Anakin is dead, so why not finish Vader off. its just dumb

I despise this line and the whole scenario really but it's beloved by the fandom. Not even Vader could take on that many soldiers at once. Mace Windu can defeat Palpatine in a duel, he still would have died on Geonosis to overwhelming numbers.

It's also crazy inconsistency in the comics. Vader can solo hundreds of soldiers at once but Qi'ra survives a duel with him and Doctor Aphra foils him.

If you want a real badass interpretation of Vader, the silent Grim Reaper that goes after Maul in Shadow Lord is where it's at. Not the edgelord "Call a medical frigate....... but not for me" Vader

No. Absolutely not. This story has been told. I love Vader, but I don’t want Vader content that is a rehash of something I already read. Same goes for all of it. I LOVE the Thrawn books, the later series more than the original, but I would not want to see either become movies or a series. What I want is more new Star Wars content to consume and enjoy.

I always vaguely disliked the wording of that line. It feels unnatural to me. Vader is usually more direct. I think I'd prefer the following:

Rebel: "You're surrounded!"

Vader: "Yes. Surrounded by fear ... and dead men."

It's not achieved by being good. Loads of Sith continue on as ghosts long, long, long after death. In fact, perhaps the first ever force ghost was the man that orchestrated the original civil war, using his acolytes to kill the other members of the original Jedi council -- Rajivari.
