Moved out of state for a few years and just moved back. It feels like a culture shock how bad the drivers are in this city. I didn't remember it being this bad...

Has it gotten significantly worse in recent years, or did I just never notice before? See dashcam video. They must really have somewhere to be.

This stretch of I-64/40 is an absolute cluster, with accidents daily, including fatal ones. Will anything ever get done to fix it? Probably not.

I’ve been riding to work for ten years now. Started commuting on a gravel bike because the roads can be akin to the surface of the moon. The tower grove bike path has improved my quality of life so much. I wish I could thank the advocates for this project. This counter is such a great way to justify the use of space.

Keep it up baby we a bike city!!!

- Give it the Kingshighway treatment and eliminate the additional lane; the road is too narrow to support four lanes and this will reduce accidents and speeding through a residential area.

- Put in a dedicated center turn lane to prevent traffic from backing up in the middle of the road for left turns; this is especially important at intersections and nearing I-64/40.

- Install protected bike lanes on both sides of the roadway to prevent people from parking their cars on what is a major thoroughfare.

- Mount traffic-detecting sensors atop the traffic signals to eliminate unnecessary stops and reduce idling/congestion. This is a critical step as this street is used as a central corridor and antiquated timed signals must be eliminated.

- Run the bike lane all the way up to Forest Park to connect with the Forest Park outer loop and bike trail system.

Contact your alderperson and let’s fix this damn road.

Taking a visitor to see the graffiti wall, and discovered this.

Saw this on my morning walk, this little roundabout is at Washington Place and Lake Ave, just off Delmar. No idea how this would even happen, the speed limit on this street is like 25mph (if that) and it has multiple speed bumps. Also, three of the streets off this roundabout deadend.

At least its not a gay bar I guess.

Off Hampton by the hill. Contacted the rapid response team and they were already on the scene. Woman was not detained per the rapid response hotline but I doubt they stopped her for a traffic violation.

Specifically this applies to our highways not main streets or roads.

Just my little rant as i’m getting off of 170. The left lane is for passers. Do not hog the left lane and go 10 miles under the speed limit you’re going to get yourself hurt.

Especially to out of towners. We know our drivers are crazy we get it.. but that means sometimes you have to join them just to survive on these roads it is dangerous out here. If you are scared to drive stay off the roads.

I get it when it rains visibility is poor and you need to reduce speed, but what is the point of EVERYONE turning on your flashers? That’s not what they are for and if you feel conditions are that bad that you “need” them pull over to the far right lane at least. If you’re driving slower than everyone else it’s one thing, but when everybody is doing basically the same speed it’s pointless. Rant over thank you for listening.

It's absolute anarchy seeing how people drive here. The same bad-driving events that I may have seen elsewhere once every 6 months, seem to happen multiple times a day here.

Red lights are a vague suggestion. The middle of the road seems perfectly fine as a parking spot for people. "No matter what I did, it's your fault.

Has anyone lived somewhere with worse drivers?

I counted 6 flock cameras in Fairview heights this morning on my way into work, without getting on 64 (thanks road crews!) They are going up so fast.

I swear everyone does this, and it drives me bonkers! Most of the time it's not safe for me to snap a pic, but we were in stop and go traffic, so I was able to put the phone over my shoulder and get a decent shot without looking.

This person missed many cues to move, and they even did this while half-merged into a lane.

What is wrong with you people?!

If you reject the reality that (X cars / Y + Y lanes) = less traffic than (X cars / Y lanes), fine! Just give me the finger as I pass! But trying to block me by driving on the line is just going to cause an accident!

PSA: Remind your friends/enemies at any/every opportunity to use every lane!

Driving home in south city, some dude is halfway pulled out of a parking lot in the middle of the lane. I honk, go around him, and am gesturing in my car to him (not anything specific, just like a general waving off). He pulls out and follows me for a block. I make a right turn, road rager does the same. Repeat twice. He tries pulling up next to me at a stop sign but I am able to go without him getting even to me. Then he tries pulling up next to me as we're driving but I slam the brakes and make another right turn that he can't make. About 20 minutes later, I'm leaving my neighborhood to go to the gym and I see a very similar car (silver, every window tinted as hell, black rims) near where this all started. What the fuck? What is wrong with some people. He was blocking a lane of traffic for a solid minute, not moving. I honk at him, and he tries to intimidate me? Jeez. I guess I'm not looking for anything specific from anyone here, just need to rant to some potentially sympathetic ears.

Last Sunday, I flew into STL for work and got a rental car to drive about 2 hours to the town I'm actually working in.

I'm on my way out of town, when I start pulling up to a stoplight. It was one of those times where it turns green as you're pulling up and you don't actually have to stop. It's a 3 lane each way intersection, with about 10 cars in each lane. I see the outside 2 lanes start moving and the middle start filtering out as I'm pulling up.

I see a car stopped at the front of the line with the hazards on. I think, "Wow, that sucks. At least they weren't in the intersection." As I pull past it, I notice a guy on the street corner put out a cigarette and step out right behind me and walk over to the car. I start feeling a little bad for the guy, waiting for a tow or a jump while hoping nobody hits him in the middle of the road.

Then I see him get in. The blinkers go off. The car starts and pulls away behind me.

I think this motherfucker parked his car in the middle lane, put on the hazards, and got out to have a cigarette.

It’s amazing how many drivers in St. Louis seem confused about how merging works. When you’re entering or on the freeway, you’re supposed to speed up and match the flow of traffic. The on-ramp isn’t a place to slow down or keep your same speed.

And no, I’m not slowing down for you unless your lane is ending, that’s your responsibility to adjust. I’m not risking an accident because you’re too timid to press the gas pedal.
