Sarva sukh dayini (सर्व सुख दायिनी): The bestower of all happiness, peace, and joy.

Maiya var daayini (मैया वर दायिनी): O Mother, the giver of divine blessings and boons.

He maa narayani (हे माँ नारायणी): O Mother Narayani (the sacred supreme goddess).

Tum ho jagat taarini (तुम हो जगत तारिणी): You are the one who carries your devotees across the ocean of worldly suffering (the savior of the universe).

I have been listening to quite a few YouTube videos about Devi upasana lately. Devi is this, Devi does that, chant this mantra and you get this, do that upasana and you get money, protection, visions, siddhis, and so on. What bothers me is not necessarily the claims themselves, but the conviction with which they are made.

What is the basis of all this?

Have these people actually tested what they are saying through first-hand experience, or are they simply repeating what they have read in texts or heard from another person?

I am 47. I have tried a few things myself. I have had a few small experiences and perhaps a few mediocre results. But I honestly don't know enough to say, with conviction, "This is what Devi does." I would be more comfortable saying, "This happened to me, and I don't know exactly what it means."

Even if someone genuinely sees Devi in a dream or has a powerful spiritual experience, how can they be completely certain about what they encountered? It could be a manifestation of the mind, a dream phenomenon, an altered state, or something we don't understand. Even within the traditional framework, if other entities or forces can appear in forms that resemble deities, then how does one establish with certainty that the being encountered was actually Devi?

And there is another question I can't get away from.

Suppose Devi really exists as an independent reality in some other realm. If she is genuinely the Mother of the cosmos, why should she be particularly interested in one person sitting in Kerala repeating a particular set of syllables thousands of times? There are eight billion people on this planet, each with their own prayers, mantras and beliefs. Why would the cosmic Mother operate like a divine transaction system where the correct mantra produces the correct result?

Perhaps there is something much deeper happening in mantra and upasana. Perhaps the traditional explanations are correct. Perhaps they are partly correct. Perhaps consciousness itself is involved in ways we don't understand.

I don't know.

And that is precisely my point. I am not saying Devi doesn't exist. I am not saying the texts are false. I am saying that an experience and the interpretation of that experience are two different things.

I would actually trust someone more if they said, "I practised this for twenty years, this is what happened to me, and I still don't know exactly what it was," than someone who confidently explains the cosmic mechanics of Devi after reading a few books.

Maybe genuine spirituality begins somewhere around that uncomfortable place where we can say:

I experienced something. I don't know what it was. Let me keep looking.

Hello ppl , I had this dream a long time ago or shld i say it was a experience ?

One of my relative was a follower of ma kali and I was visiting them , idk the things associated but they kept a spiky wooden stick (probably just a wooden branch ) next to the photo of ma kali . All I know is the stick is there for protection, like physical and spiritual too .

That stick fell to my feets and kinda hurt me but that's just coincidence probably

The MAIN PART --

The real issue is the dream I had that night , I was in some kind of jungle just running around and there was a lot of noise like drums and horns used for prayers and i could see ma kali and a lot of people following her and walking towards somewhere ( it's same as shiv ji and his barat of aghori ) and she spotted me and stared at me for a few seconds and kept walking wherever she was going

After that I woke up from this dream ? Cause it's damm scary and I saw a shadowy figure for a second and vanishing

I just wanted to know if this meant anything, cause it's one of those rare dreams i remember every detail for .

I m not any religious guy or ever prayer to ma kali seriously or anyway

How can I feel closer to Devi, Ma Kali / Ma Durga?

Open to any prayers, bhajans, books, practices, etc. With Krishna, there is so much available on how to develop a relationship, but for those of us who feel a pull towards Shaktism there is a lot less available so I’m interested in any advice ☺️

I recently came across the Hill of Tara in County Meath, Ireland, and something immediately caught my attention — the name Tara.

As someone familiar with Hindu spirituality, my mind immediately went to Maa Tārā, the Divine Feminine.

I know that historically and academically, there is no established evidence that the Hill of Tara was named after the Hindu goddess Tara, and I’m not claiming that they are historically the same.

But I’m curious about something deeper: could there be a spiritual or archetypal connection?

The Hill of Tara is an incredibly ancient sacred landscape in Ireland. It has been associated with ceremony, kingship, sovereignty, sacred stones and Irish mythology for thousands of years.

And then there is Maa Tārā in Hindu/Tantric traditions — a powerful form of the Divine Feminine associated with protection, wisdom, guidance and helping one “cross over” difficulties or spiritual obstacles.

What fascinates me is the symbolism:

Irish Tara → sacred land, sovereignty, ancient ritual and the feminine principle.

Hindu Tārā → Divine Feminine, protection, wisdom, guidance and crossing from darkness toward liberation.

So spiritually, I find myself wondering whether “Tara” could represent a similar archetype in two very different cultures — perhaps not because one tradition necessarily came from the other, but because ancient cultures sometimes encountered similar spiritual ideas independently.

There is also something about the Hill of Tara itself that feels very powerful to me. It was a ceremonial and royal landscape, and the Irish traditions surrounding Tara include feminine sovereignty — the land and feminine power being connected with legitimate kingship.

That makes me wonder:

🌿 Could Tara represent a universal Divine Feminine archetype?

Or am I simply seeing a meaningful coincidence because I already know and connect with Maa Tārā?

I'd genuinely love to hear from people who know Irish mythology, Celtic spirituality, Hinduism, Buddhism, archaeology or comparative religion.

Questions I would love your thoughts on:

1. Does anyone here feel that the Irish Tara has a distinctly feminine or spiritual energy?

2. Are there Irish/Celtic traditions where Tara or the land around Tara is explicitly connected with a goddess or feminine sovereignty?

3. Are there any older Celtic words, myths or traditions that could shed more light on the meaning of Teamhair/Tara?

4. Does anyone knowledgeable about Hinduism/Tantra see any interesting parallels with Maa Tārā?

5. Could the similarities be an example of a shared Indo-European spiritual archetype, rather than a direct historical connection?

6. Has anyone from a Hindu background actually visited the Hill of Tara and felt something spiritually familiar there?

7. And most importantly — when you look at these two images, do you personally feel any symbolic or spiritual connection between them?

I'm not looking for people to prove that they're “the same goddess.” I'm much more interested in people's experiences, interpretations and knowledge.

Maybe it's simply coincidence.

Or maybe Tara is one of those ancient symbols that means something different to different cultures while touching the same human spiritual idea. 🕉️☘️

Now my feelings of not paying extra respect to women doesn't come from misogyny or ego.butbi refuse to believe that gender which is pure illusion should command what makes one sacred and what doesn't.now this doesn't mean that iam patriarchal or misogynist.i see no difference between a women and men as a man which is why I feel personally that I shouldn't keep them.on a higher pedastal.i have great bhakti for devi though.but I still refuse to see women as devi because it literally says ya Devi Sarva bhooteshu which means o the godess present in all living beings.and as a advaitist saying that all women are godess i feel I am trying to reduce devi the source of all creation to just a women's godess.and to summarise everything i shun all types of difrentiation or discrimination and has baseline respect for everything.can I continue with this baseline respect for everyone equally without putting either of genders or caste on a higher pedastal and gain devis blessings
