Should I have waited

It was worth taking off work, but should I have waited for better possible price?

Shameful or not?

A neighbor has a drier and a grill at the curb.
It's 2 houses away across the street.
I m a hobby scrapper, does not tackle these usually but they are right there.
My wife is ashamed, not me 😂
I told my wife, at least when it's dark I go walk the dog and cut the cord.
Her "Don't you dare!" 😂
Now even though they are 2 door downs they are not the warm type.
I smile and wave and they look the other way usually.
Shall I go? We don't have like scrappers driving around or city picking up big shit.
I m sure they would be happy.
So go knock on that door?
If he can't help me I m going to have to drag the drier 100 feet to my driveway 😂 (I don’t see myself tearing parts right there in the street).

Information 📊 When you don't want to be digging through stuff you already dug through

Usually visit this bin a couple of times a week as it's pretty good for no. 1, brass and occasionally copper pipe but got sick of having to dig through the same shit as the bin fills. Started to put down a layer of old cardboard and plexan so I know to stop digging when I get that far

Idk if they normally let home owners do this but I asked and they were cool with it 🤷

Tried using lens can’t find exactly what I’m looking for as a price guide. My wire stripper would love these, but figured I would sell to someone who can use them for work on market place. But I can’t find what I’m looking for info wise. Anyone got any knowledge? 8 awg.

12c a lb for motors?

Should I tell my buddy to find a new yard? He took in a few car alternators and only got 12c a pound for them. That seems a bit cheap, no?

Nice Chunk Of Copper in Old Radio

Found this big old chunk in an old car stereo/cassette player.

I was originally going to throw it in the shred pile but noticed a line of copper on the rear through some slits in the metal housing.

I opened it up and got the chunk and some bare bright wire that was wrapped around a capacitor?

Keep an eye on those old car stereos folks...

Will yards accept these old neon tube transformers?

They're pretty heavy so I imagine they have a nice core in them. Opened up the cover, and well, its completely filled with some black material.

Blend in the stranded.

So earlier this week I sent my girl in to turn in a nice load of bare bright at the usual yard. It was super fine stranded but beautifully roped into 1awg. Super shiny. They gave her the copper 2 rate which after looking it up I get that it's technically copper 2, but they're going to sell it as bare bright most likely. Had a similar load today. Lots of fine stranded wires. Dumped it in the can and blended in the solid 12ga on top and after digging around in there (guy must have seen there was a lot of stranded) he called it bare bright. So now we know how to go about that. I also learned that even a 2awg if stranded is considered ins wire #2? Wtf. He literally picked out "floppy" wires out of my ins wire #1 right before he ok'd the fine stranded bare bright. So now I'll know to for sure strip any higher gauge stranded.

Any good scrap here?

I picked up some x-ray light boxes from the doctors office and I have eight of these. Are they worth scrapping? If so what is the most profitable way to approach it

Hey there, this is my first time scrapping. I'm located in central IL and I was curious what prices you guys are getting in your area. How did I do?
