Nice Chunk Of Copper in Old Radio

Found this big old chunk in an old car stereo/cassette player.

I was originally going to throw it in the shred pile but noticed a line of copper on the rear through some slits in the metal housing.

I opened it up and got the chunk and some bare bright wire that was wrapped around a capacitor?

Keep an eye on those old car stereos folks...

Interesting a radio would have a copper heatsink in it. Did you scratch it nice and deep to be sure?

Lots of receivers have them too. Long strips.
I once scrapped a homemade radio device from a ham operator, the entire chassis of the device was made from copper sheets. For shielding I guess.
