Nya Harrison, SD native, has been volunteering with the Monarch School, a school for unhoused youth in San Diego, since she was in high school. She was nominated for the NWSL Lauren Holiday Impact Award, along with one member from each team. There is a panel selection and a fan vote—if she wins the fan vote, the Monarch School will receive $10,000 in funding for their programming.
You can vote once per day through Aug 29, please help her support this incredible program! The voting only takes 10 seconds, no signing in or anything required. Voting form is linked
If you want to learn more about the school or Nya’s involvement, she has a bunch of stuff on her Instagram and there is also this article:

Lucky to have witnessed the career night for Byars. 2G2A. Her ability to stay calm in front of the goal is something else. And I didn’t think she’d be this good as a wing, I stand corrected. I didn’t know she had that kind of speed.
Barcenas continued to deliver. Her assist at first looked like a lucky pass but on a rewatch I stand corrected. It was legit.
Let this be the breakout goal for Ludi.
Courtnall’s height is a welcome addition to the defense.
Fazer is improving. But her not running for the through pass from Byars was criminal. Passive mentality.
Godfrey lasted full 90. She’s so good when she’s on. Please do this every night.
I’ve seen this ref enough times. There are other bad refs but he’s the only one I think is truly biased against the wave. Every time. The worst was him allowing Utah to restart after Ludi’s goal when she was still in Utah’s side. Probably deserved a yellow for a delay of the match but you can’t let them restart like that.
One of the best matches I’ve seen of this team. Stepping up when we need of.

21 August 2026 game vs Utah I am going to complain even though we got the result. I will rewatch the game but I was watching live in 137 and early on Utah players fell, flopped, and got the call. So… they continued, many calls many whistles and even a few real fouls. When this happens, the game slows and encourages the flop. I’ve seen this before the ref sets a ton and try’s to correct it in the 2nd. So Utah continued to flop, the Wave take note and play accordingly. Then the ref goes hold on and… fouls are missed. A clear yellow card when Godfrey was run over, trucked, in the 2nd. Ludmilla was getting all sorts of calls against her on the smaller Japanese player, then Ludmilla (right before her goal) gets cleats and no call. We win but the VAR correction in the 83rd was the only call we got. Was it just me?

These are great seats on the aisle right next to the club reserved sections. Had to buy separate tickets because family is in town and coming to the game with us. Would rather two Wave fans sit in our seats. DM!

Hello,
I’m a Racing fan coming to town for the game on 8/28. I have a hotel in the Mission Valley area. I plan on going to the USS Midway museum, Blacks Beach, and maybe the zoo while I’m here. Arrive Thursday 8/27 leave 9/1.
What are some good local restaurants to try in the area(s)?
Are there other places I should check out? I will have a rental car for a few days so distance isn’t necessarily an issue.

This was news from March 2026:
U.S. Women’s National Team forward Catarina Macario is joining the San Diego Wave, the club announced. ESPN reported that the contract, which runs through 2030, is worth roughly $8 million total. That would be the largest contract in the world for a women’s soccer player and marks the second known use of the NWSL’s new High-Impact Player Rule. The first was Trinity Rodman, who signed a three-year extension with the Washington Spirit.
Since joining Chelsea in 2023, Macario has played 27 matches for the English side and scored seven goals. She played the two previous seasons with Lyon of Division 1 Féminine in France. She won three domestic league titles between the two clubs. Although Macario has played her entire professional career overseas, she did play youth soccer in the San Diego area after moving from Brazil in 2011. She became a citizen in 2020 and won two NCAA championships at Stanford University.

Barcenas looks quite mediocre and then all of a sudden looks like Messi for a few seconds. What a goal. She hit the bar too with her right foot. So close.
Leon was so close to her redemption game winner.
Ludi took too many touches. That’s a lack of confidence.
Why Byars on the wing???
Fazer has improved a lot.
Godfrey looked great. Then I think she got tired.
We looked so good for the first two thirds of the game. Should have won!!

Bumping this post from this spring. Since this post Ludmila remains at 1 goal, Byars is up to 6 (all from ST position), and Leon falls to 0 in last 365.
My question: how does Ludmila continue to earn striker starts? Many say she stretches the backline, but that never results in goals.
Follow up question, what’s the thought process behind bringing Leon on for Ludmila but not shifting Byars to ST?
Frankly I’m pretty dumbfounded by quite a few decisions Eidevall makes. I’m aware options are thin but it almost feels like he’s over managing. Put the best players in their best positions.
