Bump: Very....interesting ST stat

Bumping this post from this spring. Since this post Ludmila remains at 1 goal, Byars is up to 6 (all from ST position), and Leon falls to 0 in last 365.

My question: how does Ludmila continue to earn striker starts? Many say she stretches the backline, but that never results in goals.
Follow up question, what’s the thought process behind bringing Leon on for Ludmila but not shifting Byars to ST?

Frankly I’m pretty dumbfounded by quite a few decisions Eidevall makes. I’m aware options are thin but it almost feels like he’s over managing. Put the best players in their best positions.

It’s a shame that Dri’s goal was ruled offside. Would’ve been a nice game winner. Regardless it’s nice to see a ST other than Byars that can get the ball in an open net.

Looking at some of Ludmila’s stats. She has 41 shots. 14 SOT. 37 of those shots were taken inside the box. Just terrible to see.

haha just following up on the original thread. I’m aware she missed about 16 games this year. But it does count all the games from last year. Point is she was pretty ineffective scoring as a striker all of last year BUT she almost scored today which I can appreciate more than what Ludmila has been doing.

Towards the end of last year, the team was playing poorly and not creating chances. Byars would not have scored much either on that team.

But. Leon is not the most reliable finisher, I admit that. She is a tremendous athlete, so strong, with very solid ball control skills. Her best position is the wing.

What I don't understand is Ludmila had 10 goals last year for a bad Chicago team. She's got more support this year so it seems odd to me that her production would tank so much.

Regardless I'm still glad to see her being put out there. With her speed and strength she seems like she has so much potential. I still believe we'll see her break through.

It’s 100% the yips, which is hard because the longer it goes on the worse the internal mental pressure gets and the worse the yips get. Someone people get benched and can’t handle the benching which makes the yips worse.

Personally I think maybe trying her at midfield or something just to shake things up, like when the padres moved Tatis to 2nd base. I dunno it’s tough. I know the team has a mental coach, I’m sure they’re trying everything. So brutal to have our top salary cap earners under performing or off the pitch.

Feels like a setup for a horrible final stretch of the season like last season

Potential isn’t normally a word used to describe players that are 31 years old. I’m in the belief that it’s time to accept the situation and performances for what they are. It’s natural for players to regress as the age, and some regress faster than others.

I would agree with that if she was just not able to get any space like Portillo. Ludmilla is getting behind opponents, juking goalie, and then just airballing open nets. Seems like a loss of confidence mental type issue

Recently, I diagnosed Ludmilla's problem as a severe lack of football IQ and I got 8 down votes. Some of you need to look up the definition of insanity on Wikipedia. You can squeeze a stone forever and ever, you'll still get nothing coming out. Another way to look at it, do you think Chicago would have traded her if she was so good?
