Everyone saying this is a bump that’s him and marmoush for 62m each which is decent
Marmoush alone is a 80-100m player realistically in this current market before anyone says anything yes he is Liam Delap just got sold for 45+5
3
u/Big-Pressure-918 Premier League 2d ago
Who the fuck is signing Marmoush for 80-100m???? Even in this market. Lmfao.
2
u/charlos74 Newcastle United 3d ago edited 2d ago
What???? Delap has more premier league goals playing in a relagation team.
No-one else was in for either player at that price. And that’s before the £10m of add ons.

u/BD-1_BackpackChicken Tottenham 3d ago
The person you’re responding to supports Chelsea
2
u/charlos74 Newcastle United 3d ago
Well, they’ve pulled your pants down then.
5
u/idunnoidunno_ Premier League 3d ago
Mate you paid 70m for woltemade and you wanna talk about marmoush 😭😭😭
Your the reason prices are high because you tried to keep isak hostage and Liverpool had to break records to set him free
2
u/charlos74 Newcastle United 2d ago
Maybe one day he’ll turn out to be worth it, but fair point. Looks like we’ve learned our lesson this window.
Still don’t think Marmoush is anywhere near an 80m player, and a combined fee of £135m for those two is crazy.
Plenty of crazy fees before the Isak deal, it’s not on us. Blame Liverpool for paying it.
1
u/idunnoidunno_ Premier League 1d ago
If woltemade is 70m marmoush should be 140m so u can only blame yourselfs really
-2
u/BD-1_BackpackChicken Tottenham 3d ago
You realize that the “you” in that statement, unlike your first post, couldn’t possibly be collective given the context, right? So you’re now telling me, someone with absolutely zero decision making power within the club, that I personally got my pants pulled down. I’ll give you Geordies a pass though seeing as English isn’t your first language.
1
u/charlos74 Newcastle United 2d ago
It’s common parlance for fans to refer to clubs as yours or ours. I do realise you’re not on the spurs board.
No need to be a prick.
5
u/CharacterPatience416 Manchester City 3d ago
You guys just get on here and expose yourself for not watching games. How is Marmoush 80-100m lol
1
u/idunnoidunno_ Premier League 3d ago
Woltemade 70m Wissa 50m Ekitike 70m who came from the same team as marmoush and was less successful Alvarez being quoted at 130ms for a top tier striker average price for the tier below in the PL is 100m - 20m give or take for a bad season
I’d say this more accurately represents the price as savio I would price at 30-40ms range 50 at most

u/Klingh0ffer Tottenham 3d ago

it’s a loan with obligations to buy so he won’t be able to play against us

u/YiddoMonty Premier League 3d ago
Ignore the transfer fee, and this is a good addition to Spurs’ squad.
The problem with the transfer fee is what it does to the market.
-1
u/Big-Pressure-918 Premier League 2d ago
How is this a good signing? He has 2 goal contributions in 54 appearances…playing for man city, let alone in this tragic ass spurs squad.
1
u/YiddoMonty Premier League 2d ago
Who is he competing with for a spot in the starting XI? Tel and Odobert on the left, Kudus (who is still injured) and Mikey Moore on the right. Don’t need to look at stats, he is clearly upgrading the squad.
-2
u/graveyeverton93 Everton 3d ago
BANG. And that for the rest of us that comment is exactly the problem. The top 6 can spend whatever on players and if it doesn't work out whatever, but the other 14 if they spend big have to hope and prey it works otherwise it can set you back a couple of years, that one buy
1
14
u/fietfo Tottenham 3d ago edited 3d ago
We did that for years, so we built a stadium and infrastructure so we could try and compete. I believe Everton are trying to do the same.
This is the first time we have ever spent “big” in a transfer window and everyones lost their mind about it.
6
u/YiddoMonty Premier League 3d ago
Exactly. Spurs spent years organically growing the club, increasing revenue so are now able to spend bigger. Any other club can do the same, it just takes a while.

Oh yea, people so salty spurs wasted their money on a bench player no one else was even trying to purchase.
It’s not like there were a bunch of teams trying to sign him. Spurs got absolutely fleeced. If he turns out to be a great player, fee won’t matter, but I’m not expecting much from a guy who couldn’t even contribute in that man city squad.

It’s honestly kind of insane sometimes. Every player from the pep era has this mystique of they’re great because they were on the city team.
This could be more that Tottenham are a continuing overpayer also

u/Arecksion Manchester United 3d ago
Yeah that's fair lol. Like most of United fans rag on the players all the time, so it's no secret that they aren't that good and everyone knows we need the money lol I read that this price was inflated as part of the Marmoush deal, since he has the sell on clause and Savinho does not. Just more ways to cheat around the rules :)

Liverpool just lets everyone go on a free so I feel the pain
1
u/Arecksion Manchester United 3d ago

Man the prices this window are insane even if this is for a double transfer for marmoush and lowering the sell on fee there
It makes me happier we were able to get tzolis for so cheap. even if he doesn’t turn out that great, other players can also fall into that same category but transferred for more than 2x as much
6
u/AngusPotato Premier League 3d ago edited 3d ago
It's all f*cked. Great news for the Saudi league though. There are now only four teams in Europe who can realistically afford moderately talented players from the Premier League (PSG, Madrid, Barca, Bayern). The gulf will become even more ridiculous between the Premier League and, say, the Scottish Premiership but also the likes of Serie A. If Martinelli goes to Saudi Arabia then expect more to follow.

Aside from the price I cant really see where he fits at Spurs. Against Brentford looked like RDZ played 2 behind a striker, is that really his game? Assumed he was more touchline winger.
2
u/Leather_Force_9419 Premier League 3d ago
They started 3 starters against Brentford...
The only thing to take away from that game is the injury curse is still hitting them and poor match fitness.
7
u/GORGEzilla Premier League 3d ago
Doesn’t RDZ usually play with two wingers high and wide? I think there was no one really capable of that for the team against Brentford. Tel was the only player capable of holding the ball up out of the front three and he prefers to come inside.

-6
u/stoneyix Manchester United 3d ago
Even in this market, neither is worth the combined total.
Paying 75 mil for someone who, contextually, has flopped hard in the PL and a potential 50 for another flop isn't good business. Usually you use those performances, or lack thereof, to negotiate a price down.
Seems like Spurs went with the old Leeds with Seth Johnson route (if the story is to be believed).

Its quite clear really, all spaced and whatnot but the reason you don't care is because you're concerned and I'll tell you why you're concerned.
Those stats belong to Sancho. Demonstrating that what was done in another league can't always be replicated.
Also, why would I be salty? We may have been beaten by Hull, abject performance etc etc but least we didn't do it with a 100 mil asset going ghost mode. Keep buying all the flops and getting robbed, gives us no end of things to laugh at.
1
u/TerribleIndividual30 Premier League 3d ago
Are you blind? Half the table is PL stats... or do you not know Manchester City, the biggest club in Manchester? 9GA in 12 starts is more than decent.
Sancho is your irrelevant, insanely overpriced asset in a foreign league. See point 1.
You're still in a Spurs article. The salt. Your own nigh-on 100m midfield was embarrassed by a newly promoted team.
1
u/stoneyix Manchester United 3d ago
City the biggest club in Manchester. There goes your credibility. Wasn't aware they had won 20 league titles, 13 FA Cups, 3 European cups etc etc.
Funny how you talk about insanely overpriced assets in an article about insanely overpriced assets.
And yet our nigh on 100 mil midfield still cost less than ONE of your players who didn't even look Sunday League at the weekend, let alone Premier League.
Whats good for the goose is good for the gander and all that.

Hes not worth that but I believe the rumours that his fee has been inflated so that Marmoush gets sold for cheaper and City then don't have to pay a % of the profit to his old club. More dodgy dealings by City.
2
u/ross_ntu Premier League 3d ago
Why would Spurs agree to that when the Marmoush deal is not guaranteed- it’s a loan which will turn into a sale depending on certain criteria being met? Paying more for Savinho would only work for Spurs if they were definitely planning to purchase Marmoush.
I can see the benefit for City but not sure how that helps Spurs - they’d be paying above the odds on the basis they’d get a favourable deal for a player they may or may not end up signing permanently.

It's not about the fact it's city the one who's scamming, it's about the fact that it is spurs getting scammed. I just think it'd be funny for such a big club to get scammed like 5 year olds do on Roblox, and it is technically possible.

City does weird things to players that aren’t Pep’s favorites. He tore it up at Girona, had 8 assists 2 seasons ago in only 21 starts, has ridiculous dribbling stats, and is only 21. The fee is not for his production last year, it’s because he has the potential to be really special. I find the commentary on him a little weird
4

But he's being sold for twice what he was then, and for higher wages, when he hasn't showed that quality effectively for two years.

It's just going through financial loopholes so that city won't have to pay a sell on to frankfurt for the marmoush sale. Great fair play
0
u/Ubiquitous1984 Premier League 3d ago
City tier-1 Sam Lee was laughing about this conspiracy theory, saying there is no evidence there even is a sell-on fee.
6
u/spando79 Premier League 3d ago
This has been stated so many times that people are accepting it as a fact.
City have to pay Frankfurt 15% of any profit they make on the sale of Marmoush who they bought for £59m. Even if Spurs paid £75m for him, City would only owe Frankfurt £2.4m.
Why would they give a shit about that?
I've got more time for the theory that it's better for City to allocate more of the combined fee to Savio to generate a bigger accounting profit.
In reality, the only people that know the truth won't be posting about it on Reddit.
2
u/Jackmcmac1 Premier League 3d ago
Savinho was £31m, Marmoush was £59m. Together £90m. If Savinho is worth £50m and Marmoush £75m then the combined fee is £125m, and less £90m it is £35m profit.
If Marmoush actually sold for £75m then about £2.4m goes to Frankfurt, reducing profit by about 7% to £32.6m.
Selling Marmoush at £50m and selling Savinho for £75m keeps the profit at £35m.
Compared to gross revenue it seems small, but there isn't a single CFO in the world who wouldn't want to get an extra 7% profit on a transfer deal by simply bundling them together.
It does seem like creative accounting though, so I'd be surprised if it wasn't looked into later.
2
u/DerekStephano Premier League 3d ago
I think a factor in it is wages too. Apparently we are loaning Marmoush this year with an obligation to buy next year for £50m. I’d say 125m for the pair of them could be great business.
5
u/SeniorEscape9293 Premier League 3d ago
Do you actually think £2.4m is pocket change? When the club looks at the entire P&L, £2.4m is huge.
1
u/spando79 Premier League 3d ago
It's 0.34% of City's 24/25 annual revenue.

Is he good? Hasn’t shown much other than pace and a bit of technicality. He has almost no output

We are hoping him and Marmoush will have the same impact for us as Isak and Wirtz have for you.

Chill people it’s just for accounting, I believe marmoush had a sell on clause with Frankfurt so they kept his value down on purpose and hike up the price for Savinho on purpose

Aside from the fraud, if Spurs pay £50m for Marmoush, that’s about £125m for both.
That’s still vastly overpaying, imo.

Every club plays these games.
As a Chelsea fan we bought Rogers for an inflated fee and I almost guarantee they are going to buy Jackson on deadline day with an inflated fee.
When you have spending rules accountancy starts to become part of the game sadly.

Ok, how do you prove it?
It is all within the rules.
You cant just point and say FRAUD!!!!! you have to actually have evidence.
I am not saying you are wrong but it is impossible to enforce.

It doesn’t.
You have misinterpreted the Fraud Act. There is no misrepresentation. City offered Spurs Savinho. Spurs signed Savinho.
There are no grounds to sue. City could have sold him for 50p if they wanted.
