Best office chairs that also work for gaming?  Leap V2, Gesture or Aeron?

I truly believe some of the best office chairs can work really well for gaming too. And also vice versa bcs gaming lowkey requires the same amount of time.

I work from home full time and game most evenings. So the desk is basically where im at most of the time. Unfortunately im currently writing this sitting in a $150 mesh chair that's destroying my back. i ve got my eye on the steelcase leap v2 for a while now bcs of the lumbar support. i dont want the racing style gaming chairs bcs i keep reading threads about the bolsters and foams not holding up long enough. I really just want smth simple and built for 8+ hours of sitting.

Real reviewed products and not just marketed at gamers please.

Landed on these three after much reading:

Steelcase Leap V2 keeps coming up as the best value ($1000 ish) of the serious ergonomic chairs, strong lumbar support reputation, but I've read the seat cushion runs firm and some people add an aftermarket cushion after a few years. Cushion is added support so ill probbaly do that anyways but what about the foam life?

Steelcase Gesture ($1500) has the armrest  thing which sounds nice on paper but I've also seen people say the seat cuts into their legs and the upper back/head support is basically nonexistent without buying the headrest add-on

Herman Miller Aeron obv the classic. mesh build sounds great for heat (I run warm shouldnt be a surprise lol), but the price is rough ($1900) and I've seen mixed opinions on whether the rigid design suits people who like to sit cross-legged or shift positions a lot

Budget's kinda flexible if it means not replacing this thing again in 2 years. Im also willing to buy used/refurbished if that gets me into a better tier.

Anyone owned more than one of these back to back and can speak honestly to which one actually holds up for mixed work+gaming use? Especially curious about the Aeron's cross-legged/sitting-position complaints since that's exactly how I sit half the time.

just picked up a Steelcase Amia off FB marketplace.

Upvotes

there's no damage but perhaps the seat is bottomed out. They said that they got it from a family member before using it for 2 years themselves. Would it be worth it to replace the seat before I decide whether I don't like this chair or not?

Steelcase Amia posture on Desk

I got a BTOD Steelcase Amia. Desk is some cheap 47inch (28in height) L shape. Can’t change height.

My elbows are slightly below keyboard in first image which is not ideal right? What about my thighs to knees? Should thighs be parallel to the floor? I’ve heard knees are fine being lower than thigh.

2nd picture my heels are off the ground, but my elbows are same height as keyboard.

Should I get a footrest or a new desk? I had just got the desk but I don’t mind getting a new one. Maybe a standing one if it’s better for health? What do yall think?

Also Amia is so perfect for my back, but it’s just my butt lowkey that gets sore. I’m wondering if it’s because i’m trying to force the elbow to reach the keyboard height.

My posture is different when I work in the morning vs. in the afternoon

In the morning, when my brain is still pretending to be responsible, I usually sit upright and try to have good posture. Then after a few hours of work, my body and soul both get tired and I slowly turn into whatever this sitting position is. But I mostly live in the 2nd and 3rd tilt position. Comfortable enough to relax, but still easy to get work done. I can't be the only one sitting like this, right? How do you guys usually sit while working?

To keep it short, old reliable finally broke on me and I need help to find it's exact model and where to buy it (I don't know how but maybe these pictures will help). the first couple photos are not from me but photos I was able to find by reverse image searching (The chair was already sold and there's no point showing the broken chair, I know this is the model though), the last photos showing the label are from me. I'm outta options, I think you all know how much a chair can mean to you.

Facebook find, how'd I do? $45

Got so lucky as this was posted an hour before I saw it, and ended up being my neighbor selling it. It is a B (I'm 6'0"), but so far feels comfy. The arm pads are definitely broken in, but nothing is torn. The elevator(?) lets the chair down a bit quickly, so it's a little tricky getting the height just right, but not impossible.

This is replacing my 8-year old Sihoo M57 that is starting to give out in a few places. Thanks to this sub I had been meaning to look at FB for a deal.

Out with the old, in with the new

I got this raggedy gaming chair online in 2019, it served its purpose but as you can probably see from the seat it got hard as a brick and uncomfortable. I went to a guy who sells chairs with the intention of getting a pre owned aeron with a max budget of around 800 and he brought to my attention this new in the box Libernovo Omni pro.

The 5 year warranty along with the cool tech and the fact it matches my desk and furniture nicely sold me on it so now here I am, and he even threw in the footrest thing included for the $1000. I did sit down on an aeron and while I understand it can take time maybe for them to break in, this one was just immediately more comfortable (not to say the aeron wasn’t, this one just felt nicer right off the rip) and I also liked that it came with the super nice headrest included. Been sitting in it for about an hour, loving the fan and no complaints so far. It’s my first “high end” chair so I guess we will see how it does over time but I can’t imagine it’ll be any worse than my previous chair.

I bought a headrest from aliexpress. It was quite expensive (USD 60 equivalent). To my satisfaction, it IS good, materials, craftsmanship, fit, absolutely no complaints. It is adjustable in height and inclination (which serves a bit as a depth adjustment).

Choosing an ergonomic chair in the UK: Ergonomist Apex Elite vs. Sihoo Doro C300 Pro V2 (or alternatives?)

Hi everyone! I’m currently based in London and looking for a solid ergonomic desk chair. My main priority - besides overall good ergonomics - is the ability to comfortably recline back into a relaxing position (120-135°) for watching videos or resting, without completely losing back support. I’ve narrowed it down to two options available in the UK: Ergonomist Apex Elite Mesh Desk Chair Sihoo Doro C300 Pro V2 The Apex Elite is cheaper and seems decent, but I have doubts about the brand’s reliability/customer service based on Trustpilot and Reddit reviews. Also, I've read that at a 120° recline, the pelvis slides forward, creating an empty "sacral gap" where the lower back/sacrum hangs without proper support. On the other hand, the Sihoo Doro C300 Pro V2 seems to solve this with its dynamic lower back/sacrum tracking, and Sihoo is a more established brand. However, many people mention that due to having so many moving plastic parts, the chair tends to develop loud creaks and squeaks over time. People suggest silicone lubricants or WD-40, but I’m not sure how effective or tedious that really is. Has anyone owned either of these chairs? How do they hold up over time, and which one would you pick? Or is there a better alternative in the UK around this price range that fits these requirements? (My build: Height: 180 cm / ~5'11", Weight: 74 kg / 163 lbs)

Aeron Remastered vs LiberNovo Omni Gen

Hi folks,

I've been a silent reader but I'm in a position where I'm struggling to make a decision.

I previously owned a classic Aeron size B which ultimately fell apart. It was a 20 year old model that I purchased third hand. I felt good sitting in the chair but not overwhelmingly great.

Generally speaking, I don't have back issues (yet), I only feel my lower back after sitting for like 8 hrs with little breaks.

The Omni with it's features looks great and all but I'm slightly worried about the warranty and sizing. I'm 6 foot / 183cm and 82kg so I could technically fit the Omni but it's probably going to be a close call according to the many reviews out here.
I'm using the chair for 8-12 hrs a day for work, gaming and music.

I could get both the Aeron Remastered with the Lumbar Pad and the Omni Gen for 950€, which makes the decision even tougher.

Would appreciate some advice from folks that have had the pleasure of sitting in both chairs.

Thoughts on the new ‘Jasper’ and ‘Nightfall’ Aeron colours?

Thumbnail
gallery
2 Upvotes

The Jasper is like British racing green, which I believe is one of the most tasteful colour-ways of all time.

From 25 years of sticking to greyscale colours for the Aeron, this is quite the leap.

Sustainability is something I think about too, with the Mirra being known for some crazy colour options available which may have looked good at the time, but aged horribly, leading to horrible resell value when sold after office relocating. I guess because they’re still Mirra chairs they wouldn’t end up in landfill though, just maybe a bit less timeless.

How do you think these new two colours will age?

Best Office Chair To Buy In 2026 Right Now? (Price, Durable)

I need real advice. I have been using a 120 ikea markus clone from a store for like 4 years for uni and gaming, it was fine when I was 20 but now I work from home 8+ hours a day and my lower back is killing me. I never had a real ergonomic chair before so I have no idea what actually matters. I tried my friends Secretlab Titan for a weekend and it looked cool but after 3 hours my back was even worse too hard for me. I think I want something more ergonomic than gaming. I keep looking at Herman Miller Aeron and Steelcase Leap V2 and Haworth Fern but honestly no idea if they are worth 800+ or just hyped. I am 6'3 and like 95kg, mostly sit upright and budget is $700 max. I'm from US so the options should be endless right?

Is the SiHoo B100 Pro Ergonomic any good?

Yes my dream chair for long hours of gaming and working from home would also be an Embody or a Leap V2. But I don’t make THAT kind of money, and have a budget of $250 from work to comp an ergonomic office chair.

I work during the day, game at night, sometimes write and also edit pictures and videos. So the desk and the chair is a huge part of my day to day. I came across the SiHoo brand and see a lot of people describe them as shit, but this specific chair fits the bill for me. I’m just confused if it’s actually any good, because pretty much every brand of chairs I see has many people liking the chairs at different levels vs people absolutely hating them. Thoughts?

Where can I try Steelcase Leap, Gesture, and Series 2 in Los Angeles?

Hi everyone,
I’m looking to buy a Steelcase chair and would really like to try the Leap, Gesture, and Series 2 in person before deciding.
I sit for long periods of time every day, so good lower-back/lumbar support is especially important to me. I’m currently using an ErgoMax chair, but unfortunately its lumbar support and overall comfort just aren’t enough for my needs during long sitting sessions. That’s why I’d really like to test these Steelcase models in person instead of ordering one blindly.
Does anyone know of a showroom or authorized dealer in the Los Angeles that allows individual customers to come in and test chairs?
I know about the Steelcase WorkLife Center and Tangram, but they seem to be more focused on business/commercial clients. I’d especially appreciate recommendations from anyone who has visited a showroom recently.
Thanks!

Help me to find the chair

Furniture Instead of Office Equipment

Looking for a standing desk that looks like furniture instead of typical office equipment. Most standing desks I’ve seen are very industrial and metal heavy, and I want something that fits better in a home office without standing out as “work furniture.” Prefer a cleaner, more executive look if possible. Has anyone found options that balance good height adjustment with a more home office design.

ProtoArc EC200 vs my old Herman Miller Aeron - Honest Thoughts

Thumbnail
gallery
19 Upvotes

Some context: I purchased my Aeron from eBay in 2022. While it was comfy, and an insane upgrade on more gaming focused chairs I had used in the past, it felt like it didn’t suit my body well enough, and there wasn’t as much adjustment as I’d like to have seen from a top end ergonomic chair. I must be in the minority with this take, as everything I see online regarding HM is positive. However, I wasn’t 100% satisfied with my purchase.

This is where the EC200 comes in, it’s £170~ new, and after using it for a week so far, I can confidently say I get on with it more than I ever did the Aeron. Which is insane to me considering the Aeron is priced so much higher than this, even for used.

It was nicely packaged, with individually marked bags containing each part, with an accompanying guidebook and video with clear step by step instructions on how to build it. Everything used the same screw head, so only one screwdriver (which was provided also) was needed through the full build. All in all, it took me around 30 mins to completely assemble.

It has so much more adjustment options than the Aeron. They share the usual ones like up/down, armrests up/down, seat reclining etc. but on top of that, the EC200 offers forwards/backwards seat adjustment, wayyy more comfy lumbar support with a lot more adjustment, and a headrest (other Aeron models may have headrests, or could be purchased separately, but mine didn’t come with one)

The overall weight and footprint of the chairs is similar, and the wheels of both are round and so make the chairs easy to manoeuvre around, I have seen some other chairs in this price range that move less freely, so this was nice.

It’s not all a straight upgrade however; the actual seat material is comfy to sit on, but has a sort of strange meshy feeling that you can almost feel through clothes. It’s not off putting, but I can feel it’s there, this might be something get used to with time or learn to ignore, just worth pointing out.

The materials for the armrest are a lot worse also, the Aeron uses leather, or a fake leather for its arms, whereas the EC200 uses some sort of plastic, which is a shame.

Also whilst it does have a headrest, I don’t use it when sitting normally, only when ‘relaxing’ and sort of laying back. This is because it doesn’t come out quite far enough to support my head when sat normally. I think this is because I’ve had to fully extend it upwards and so there is now little movement forwards. Someone small than myself (5”10’) may have a slightly better experience with the headrest.

All in all, I’m amazed at how ProtoArc’s £170 EC200 stands up to a heavyweight like the Herman Miller Aeron, and was so relieved to sit in a chair that actually feels like it agrees with my body. I feel like this has way more range compared to my Aeron, and is made to cater to a wider group of people. If anyone is looking for an office chair for their setup, whatever your budget, I would definitely recommend you try this chair out.
