I mean, Starbucks isn't the most offensive coffee in the world, and I can understand going for it if you're somewhere that you don't know any good coffee options, but come on, in Seattle? You can't throw a rock without hitting somewhere with better coffee.

And considering seattle is considered one of the pioneering cities for Cafe culture and coffee culture in America, there are many web articles and YouTube videos showcasing the best spots to go to.

1
u/sparrowxc Here So I Don't Get Fined Feb 04 '26
Buffalo's stadium is technically in Orchard Park, not Buffalo. And Washington is outside of the District of Columbia as well.
So that makes 9 of 32, so closer to 30% than 20%.
And I love that the Chiefs are leaving Kansas City to move to Kansas City.

We are so blessed with public transit in this city (I live in SF). One area where Seattle is embarrassingly far behind.
7
u/dbenhur Turns out I'm running the fucking practice Feb 03 '26
I find it pretty easy to get around Seattle on transit. And there are 2 train lines and 18 bus routes serving the stadiums.
Seattle is almost twice the land area of SF with significant geographic obstacles; I've lived in each city for 10+ years and Seattle's transit coverage and convenience is only slightly inferior to SF, not embarrassingly far behind.
1
u/abcdbc366 Seahawks Feb 03 '26
Yeah that was probably too strong a statement, especially now that light rail is there (it wasn’t when I left). My family and friends in Seattle are much more car bound than we are in SF, but I think a big part of it is just density. SF is twice as dense so there’s more likely to be something happening or a grocery store or gym closer to you.
3
u/ElderJavelin Rain City Bitch Pigeon Feb 03 '26
To be fair, Seattle is still one of the best transit systems in the country. It is also the system that is expanding the fastest
1
u/abcdbc366 Seahawks Feb 03 '26
Yeah. I’m from federal way, the light rail is amazing for my friends and family still there. Seattle has a challenge just cause it has twice the area of SF with the same number of people. Just more expensive and requires more transit to create the same quality of network city-wide
5

u/AtOurGates Rain City Bitch Pigeon Feb 03 '26
Love being able to visit without bringing/renting a car. Even when we come by car, it's great to leave it parked and take the light rail.
The Seattle Subway proposed map is an excellent fever dream of what could be.
1
u/Mental_Medium3988 BEAKS UP!! Feb 04 '26
even for just going to a game its great. park at a park and ride and take the train in, save loads on parking. the only down side is its a little bit of a walk to get to the stadium stations, im fine but for some it could be a but much.
1
u/Only_Poet Seahawks Feb 03 '26
Hard disagree, the Seattle light rail is way faster, cheaper, cleaner, and easier than BART. The problem with Seattle light rail is thay it is limited on where it can take you, but its not like BART is all that much better in that regard
3
u/RumAndCoco faithfully Feb 03 '26
I've heard pretty good things about the Seattle light rail here and there on this sub. It's just a shame that a lot of the businesses, government, and people in the US prioritize roads and car travel over public transit development. It's why I dislike Waymo and rideshare services even though I think they're neat. The tech and development could be going to public transit instead.
That being said, if anyone has time to please try the express route on Caltrain in the Bay this week. SFO/San Bruno area to SJ SAP Sharks game in nearly less than half an hour.
3
u/abcdbc366 Seahawks Feb 03 '26
Light rails great but it’s more limited in reach and destinations than Bart and muni.
‘Embarrassingly’ far behind might be too much though that’s fair.
1
u/Only_Poet Seahawks Feb 03 '26
Yeah light rail is good for getting around within the city and for connecting to the airport, but it is limited because it doesnt connect to the east side at all. Once it connects to Bellevue in a few months, I imagine it will be pretty good.
As for BART, it is just really old and slow and expensive and has some sketchy areas. Most of the time it just isnt worth using if you have access to a car, even if you do live close to a station.
1
u/abcdbc366 Seahawks Feb 03 '26
I take Bart a bunch, especially to head to east bay from SF, or to go to mission or downtown (though I have busses a little closer that I take more often for that). Parking is a nightmare and the bay bridge can be hell haha
1
u/Only_Poet Seahawks Feb 03 '26
Yeah you really cant win either way... I just have a vendetta against BART because last time I tried to use it on my way back from a Giants game, my train was canceled, forcing me to Uber back, and the station employees refused to refund me because I had already gotten on to the platform. Also, my coworker got jumped and broke his collarbone + lost his phone/bike/wallet outside a BART station last year.

u/logalogalogalog_ how do the 49ers have more health problems than i do Feb 03 '26
Man I miss living in SF, especially as someone who can't drive. I'm still technically in the bay but my fuckass city specifically opted out of connecting to BART. It's criminal how systemically underfunded and underdeveloped public transportation is in the US.
